HTC Incredible :: On Desk / Phone Rings For A Second Then Goes Silent
Sep 23, 2010
I got my Inc about 2 months ago and at first I thought this was just a fluke, but it's happening all the time. Basically, if my phone is sitting flat on my desk and I get a call, the phone will ring for about a second before going silent. It still vibrates and still wants me to answer the call, but the ringtones have stop.
I even experienced this today driving in to work. The phone was sitting on my leg when I got a call. Same problem. Rang for a second and then silent. If I am holding it or it's in my pocket, it seems to ring without any problems. That "silent ring on pickup" or whatever option in the settings is not selected and I don't believe I have any sort of app installed that controls the volume of the phone.

I've looked for an answer through out the forum but did not find one if I overlooked it sorry. But the problem I have is even when I set my phone to silent or vibrate it still has and audible ring. Email and other notifications are silent but the ring isnt. I use home++ and stock home and it does the same thing. I can set it to silent using the stock silent or using ringer widgets. I will try anything, Ive had way to many embarrassing moments with Chris Brown playing during quiet time.

I have a rooted Nexus 5 with KK 4.4.2 that rings even if set to vibrate. The phone vibrates once and then the rigner actually is set back to full volume. Pretty annoying during meetings.

My Incredible usually just rings once. If I pick it up, it says the person is still calling, but the phone isn't ringing. There's some setting about stop ringing when you pick it up. I do not have that set, so it should keep ringing to matter what.It is not consistent. Sometimes it just rings once.

I answer the phone and the audiobook or podcast keeps playing, so when my phone calls is over, I miss that audio. I wish it would auto pause the audiobook when the phone rings. Is there an app for that?

My Droid Incredible will only ring once sometimes. I've tried custom ringtones, default ringtones, I made sure that it is not set to "Quiet on Pickup (or whatever)". It's not like it goes to voicemail or gets cut off, when I look at the screen, the caller is still there, waiting. I answer it and everything goes fine with the phone call. The problem is my work requires me to be on call alot, and if I don't hear my phone ring that first time, I may not get another ring. It typically only occurs when it is laying on a flat surface, face down but it doesn't happen everytime it is in this position. It used to happen less than once a day, it now happens more often. Today it happened three times before lunch.Anyone know how to experience this or know how to fix it? Verizon had me do the whole *228 thing. it didn't help at all. I'm on the verge of fully resetting my phone,

Does anyone know how to get them back? I am not really sure when it happened, but my audible touch tones are set to short. I have tried each of the settings for that, and have also rebooted, just no touch tone sounds.

I've noticed that my notifications were sporadic, both from e-mail and messages. I think I even missed a call once and was surprised because I never heard it ring/vibrate. After some testing I think I've figured out that when the phone is in my pocket, and I'm sitting at my office desk, the phone is face down in that same, fairly flat level position, that turns the ringer off if you flip your phone over on a desk while in a meeting. Is there any way to turn this feature off?

Anyone having issues with their phone changing itself to Silent mode? Every morning, I switch to Vibrate before I go to work. At roughly 9:00, the phone will then change itself to Silent mode without me doing anything. The only thing I can think of is that I used to use the app "Settings Profiles" to do changes for me automatically. I wasnt crazy about it though so Ive uninstalled it. The program no longer shows up for me so I dont think thats the problem.

Does the HTC Incredible have an external silent/vibrate mode similar to the iPhone?

Two issues that are bugging me...
1) Is there a way to avoid notification sounds to take place during media playback, mainly music player, without having to change my sounds profile to silent, or vibrate?
2) All of a sudden my phone is taking a little long to load SMS conversations. Is there a way to fix that? I feel as though my Snapdragon shouldn't lag when I open a text.

So the default Sense clock widget has a mode called desk clock, and it basically switches the entire screen to a black background with a digital clock on it. It's simple, but I like the idea for when I'm sleeping or working on the computer or whatever. Thing is, the screen still times out and locks itself at the normal length of time, which makes the mode pretty useless. Does anyone know of a way around this, or is this really feature really that poorly planned?

Is there a way to load my own tones to the desk clock? I'd like to take a clip from a song using Ring Droid and make a wake up tone that is more soothing and less startling.

I miss my Blackberry choices for notification, in particular, phone only. A quick one press button for ring, vibrate, ring phone only, silent. I use profile and find it a little too in depth. I want something simple. I also think there may be a gremlin or two as I have found my settings changed without my doing anything.

Occasionally, a couple times a month, my Moto Droid will ring, the phone app pops up... but there are no sliders to answer. It rings and rings, and about the time that it's going to go to VM, the sliders will finally appear. Sometimes I miss the call, other times I can get it. More often, it will ring, and either the phone app doesn't show up at all, or it shows up but then disappears (phone goes black). I have to manually unlock the phone (I have gesture security), and then I can usually get to it. if the phone has gone black, I fumble around with hitting the power button, shaking it (I have screebl), touching the screen and finally the gesture screen comes up. Kinda feels like multitasking/processor priority issues they haven't elegantly worked out yet, but I wanted to see if this sounded familiar. Any apps that make it so that when the phone rings, processor priority is handed to the phone? I don't see the app killing other apps, just downgrading their priority to (nearly) zero until you're done with your call, or even just until you have answered your call. The flaw is just in the answering part. When a call comes in, I want my *phone* to be super responsive to that *phone* part of things, y'know?

And then it hangs up before I can answer it.What's with that? I can't see a setting to change how long the bloody thing rings for, either.I have a song from the sd card set as my ringtone, but it's about two minutes long so it can't be that.

I've had the DroidX a couple of weeks. This morning it stopped ringing on incoming phone calls. It does vibrate. Last time it rang is when I was playing with settings to have it stop ringing when I place if face down. I've undone that facedown setting. Ringer is ON. I've cycled it on/vibrate/off and back ON. Silent Mode is OFF Phone Vibrate is OFF Audible touch tones is ON and I hear tones on phone keypad Volume is Audible.I can select and listen to my ringer tune.

Has anyone been able to adjust the amount of rings on their phone? My phone rings about 6 times before it goes to voicemail but my girlfriend's phone rings only 4 times. I brought both numbers over from T-Mobile where they each rang about 4 times but now w/Verizon mine went up to 6. Tried calling tech support about it and they said there wasn't a setting for this on the phone itself and they gave me an answer like some phones just tend to connect to the network faster.

So when I get an incoming call, my droid-X rings instead of my car stereo. I have the car stereo set to ring, but it does not. So I constantly miss calls in my car to the point where I may as well not even have a bluetooth stereo. In California, we can't talk on the phone and drive so it's killing me that this does not work after investing money into the system.
Never had a problem on my blackberry. Basically if I have the stereo on, I'm not going to hear my phone ringing, I guess I could set it to auto answer (not sure if that works yet either) but I like to see the number from who is calling first on my CD Player's face.

I'm listening to Pandora and I go to my home page. If I rotate the phone, or even set it on my desk, the phone makes an annoying sound that interrupts my music. I turned off system sounds and I still get the noise. Any ideas on what I can do to get rid of that annoying noise.

Is anyone else having this problem? I am using launcher pro, but I don't think that makes a difference. I am at wits end with this problem. Unless I am expecting a phone call, and have the phone in my hand, it is impossible to answer a call before it goes to voicemail.
