I started to update my phone (root) the download started, then I got an error message, now the computer wont recognize the phone! is there anything I can do or did I just brick my phone?

I have a Samsung Galaxy S phone and am wondering if the lagfix can brick my phone. Are there only one method of doing the Lagfix? If there are more than one, are there any that doesn't risk getting the phone bricked?
View 7 Replies View RelatedYes you read it right I want to know how I can brick my phone or make it stop working completely. Now let me explain the reason why. I had installed an app called "Launcher Pro". Later I uninstalled it and that is when all hell broke lose. Basically when ever I would swipe my screen to unlock the phone, I would get constant error messages that would reappear the moment I would close them, and to make matters worse it would lock out the rest of the screen so I can not click any thing else (just like in windows vista and windows 7 when a UAC message pops up). This is further complicated by the fact that I have a Bell Canada Samsung Galaxy Phone, which does not have the 3 button recovery ability but that is not the end of my problems. I got this phone at a store called Best Buy and got their warranty. Now one of the things that voids the warranty is unlocking the phone, guess what?? My phone is unlocked. So since my phone is not dead, it boots up, the lock screen loads up, the top bar shows u the battery life and the fact it is getting service and can receive calls (but which I can not answer since when it comes to that screen, the screen freezes up with the error messages). So if I take the phone to Best Buy, they are going to pop in a different sim other then bell and when they see that it works, will hand me back my phone and void my warranty. So I need to have the phone in such a condition that they can not check that and yes there can be no physical or water damage either. How do I accomplish this?

View 17 Replies View RelatedI tried to install a Bootanimation with bootanimation.zip When i turned on the phone, it keeps loading the Sprint 4G splash screen...So i just went to the Recovery screen and re-flashed the Damagecontrol 3.2.3, and it still just stays at the Sprint 4g slash page. I can get into the recovery screen which has ROM Manager. Did I screw something up thats too deep internally?

I turned my phone off when I got to work and when I turned it back on it would not go past the Android loading screen. T-Mobile had me reset back to the default setting so I lost all my apps and such. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem after updating an app recently.I don't want to download the app again if its broken.

View 18 Replies View RelatedI tried the MAK-DROID rom (thread) and it works great, but MAK-DROID didn't have the language pt-br (portuguese from Brazil). So I found the Aspire Rom (thread) and I give a try... and thats was a bad idea.
Now my fone even boot. It freezes on "GT-S5300 SAMSUNG" and vibrate a several times.
So, I boot on recovery and apply CWM again. On CWM I applied the MAK-DROID again, but didn't work.
After that I tried restore the my stock backup done with CWM. But even this didn't work. I received a message about EXTFS (or something like that) and impossibility of format the /system.
My final thought was try with Odin. So I follow the post #8 from MAK-DROID thread. I downlod the Odin and the S5300XXLF5 firmware. I open Odin and selected on PDA the *.tar.md5 file. But I received:

And i am not able to install any custom rom also. Every time i do get stuck on the logo of the device. And when i remove battery it gets back to the normal recovery mode. What shall i do now the device is bricked and i cannot get it back.

I would love to try out the Samsung Moment, but don't have the $$ to just go out and buy one.My hero comes with all it had when new, plus I have an extra battery for it I will add to the deal. This hero has only been used for about a week, and while using it, it "lived" in my Blackberry Tour holster to give it maximum protection. The only ones I do get are my work ones and that's connected directly to the Exchange server. I have a total of 4 emails being sent to my phone, My gmail, Hotmail, and 2 from my website exile-designs.com. I have the settings to check every 15 minutes but I never get any. Anyone have any idea's on this? I know the settings are right for sure on my Hotmail because I can pull that one up and see my old email's sitting in my inbox. The other 3 accounts should all be fine as well.

I tried rooting it today by following what seemed to be fairly simple instructions but when I went to do the recovery part, I got this message..."Samsung PST MFC Application has stopped working". I tried going thru the whole process again while phone was still plugged in but I kept getting same msg. When I unplugged it and tried turning it on, all I would get was a pic of a phone, a question mark, and a computer. I had to hard boot it. Once I did that, it was on the 1.5 version. I had to take it to the fix it shop to get the upgrade and my contacts back. I'm very scared to even try this again myself but I want it rooted so bad! I want to be able to use it as a modem for my laptop.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI can't figure out the exact circumstances, but at times the USB connection between my phone and the PC gets broken, and my phone no longer gets recognized. It seems to be a phone-side problem, because it is only rectified when I reboot the phone, but not the PC. The last time it happened was after an incoming call disrupted my PDANet connection. When I hung up, the USB icon was gone, and I had to reboot.

If I go ahead and reset to the factory settings with the CL14 update still be on my phone or do I need to redo that part again? Resetting is about the only thing I can think of or taking it into the store.
Does anyone know how to fix this? It'll come on and just stay at the Samsung logo screen. It's not frozen because the logo is glowing on and off. But it never gets past that screen!

I just want version 1.6 on the moment so I can get the WGN Radio app. The phone says it's running firmware version 1.5, and I get a "cannot connect" message when I try to update firmware, so what do I do? Am I stuck with 1.5 until 2.1 comes out, or is there a way to get 1.6?
