HTC Incredible : WIFI Kills Push Gmail
May 11, 2010Been loving my DI but have noticed that when I turn wifi on, gmail is not being pushed to my phone. Then when I turn wifi off, it still doesn't push. I have to turn the phone on and off to get it to resume pushing...Seems like the WIFI and 3G don't like to play nice...

Aug 28, 2010We'll this is a deal breaker for me, after being pretty happy with the RUU update and the speed improvement it brought to the stock music player.When using the turn by turn navigation, every time the voice comes in the player puts itself on pause.After the instruction is over it remains paused instead of resuming.Then I have to manually hit play again to resume playback.This is a big deal while driving since I don't want to be fidgeting with my phone every couple seconds.This was not an issue with 2.1 , since as soon as the turn by turn instruction was gone the music would automatically resume.

I mostly charge it by plugging it into my laptop via the usb cable and very few times via wall socket. I was wondering does slow charging via "usb on laptop" damages/degrades battery life? Dec 11, 2013Vevo is killing my battery.I have a Chromecast device and after using Vevo, I show constant communication between Vevo and my Chromecast device (using network log app).
My phone will not sleep after using Vevo (confirmed via better battery stats). As soon as I uninstall Vevo, my phone sleeps again.I've emailed Vevo a few times and they have not responded. I have a Verizon GS3, running stock (4.1.2) /rooted.
Android :: Activity Restart Crash After OS Kills It
Mar 8, 2010Activity SplashScreen is the launching activity for my app. It sends a request to my server and gets back a user data it then uses to populate a user object which is a static object. Once it has that it calls the MyMapView activity and finishes itself. A force close occurs when I hit the home button and then open up enough other apps so that Android kills MyMapView to get more resources. Now when I open my app again it tries to start MyMapView and bypasses SplashScreen. There is no user object so I get null pointer exceptions. I have tried to Override the onSaveInstanceState and OnRestoreInstanceState but it seems that those are not available when Android kills the activity. I also tried android:finishOnTaskLaunch with the SplashScreen (maybe this should be put on MyMapView but the article I read said different) and that seems to have no effect. What I would like is for the activity to not restart after Android has killed it. What can I do about this?

Jul 7, 2010When the sync process ends it takes my PC's internet connection with it. I end up having to reboot my computer every time I sync. The sync itself seems to work ok, it just kills my internet connection on my PC every time. This has never happened on the half-dozen or so smartphones I had before the Evo.

Aug 28, 2010I was trying to do the RUU program that so many people have used and I ran into an issue! It was started and it was preparing or looking for my bootloader then all of the a sudden it gave me an error saying something about my USB! I never touched my USB and all I see the the HTC logo. I haven't unplugged it from USB and haven't pulled the battery (don't want to kill it!) Any recommendations? I did as the program asked as well! I quit applications, turned off sleep/hibernate, etc etc!

Apr 21, 2010I've uncovered what could be a serious problem with the Desire. It's only affected me in one way so far, but who knows what other problems there are that I haven't found. I've noticed on several occasions that when listening to music via Bluetooth, my headphones disconnect for no apparent reason. However I've found a pattern now: if WiFi is turned on and I come within range of a /remembered/ hotspot, the WiFi connects and BOOM, disconnected from audio. I can reconnect straight away. There is another poster here (sorry, can't remember your name or the thread you posted in) describing another problem with WiFi and Bluetooth working - or conflicting! - together so I don't think I'm the only person suffering. Who else can reproduce it and how could I submit a bug report to HTC?

Jul 21, 2010I'm not sure if this started after the update, but every time I use WIFI and Bluetooth, my WIFI connection dies less than a minute after using it. For example, I'll connect my Bluetooth headphones and then start up a streaming music service. In less than a minute, the music stops and my wifi connection is dead (even though it says it is still connected). Can't browse the web, do speed test, etc. Have to disconnect WIFI and reconnect. But it will do it again as soon as I start using the connection.If I turn off Bluetooth, my WIFI works just fine. If I use Bluetooth over 3G, it works fine. It's only when I use both WIFI and Bluetooth and when I start using the Internet.I'm thinking it's either a bug or an interference issue between the WIFI and Bluetooth radios? Sometimes the music will cut out a bit before the WIFI connection totally dies. But if I switch over to 3G, it works fine. I tried several apps too, not just the same music streaming service, so I know it's not the app. Here's the weird part: if I use my Bluetooth headphones while connected to WIFI, but only listen to music that's on my device, it doesn't do it. It's only when I start using the WIFI heavily that it does it.Anyone else experience this? As it stands, I cannot use WIFI and Bluetooth at the same time.

What am I missing? Did they forget to load it?
I went to the Market and it's not there either.

Android :: Flash Sucks - Kills Battery Life And Heats Up
Jun 27, 2010I have not had one good experience with Flash so far. Its laggy. The rollover stuff really is a pain. It slows down the whole phone. Kills battery life and heats up my phone enough to fry an egg. Its deja vu. I hate Apple and I hate Steve Jobs, and I was a huge supporter of Flash coming to Android, but frankly, its terribly disappointing. The tap to interact thing is really annoying and doesn't work. I tried to watch the World Cup game and it was off center in full screen mode and very laggy. since we already have youtube and hulu won't let us watch their stuff, it seems that 95% percent of Flash really is ads. Also, I tried to watch a video in a flash player and i couldn't change the volume or pause it. And when scrolling, any flash content lags in movement and slows down the whole page. Am I the only one disappointed? I mean, I know its only a beta but they have a long way to go for me to consider keeping it installed on a regular basis.

May 6, 2010I have a rooted 2.1, it's been working perfectly since I rooted and updated and all.I love how fast and responsive everything is now.BUT one of the main reasons I rooted was so that I could take advantage of the wifi tethering.It works sometimes.sometimes great.BUT if I try to go to facebook.it'll work well sometimes, then others it won't even load the page.then eventually just kills my connection. gmail seems to have the same reaction.works sometimes, other times, nothing. i dont seem to have much of a problem surfing other sites.HOWEVER if i try to download anything over like 4MB big...my connection just gets killed all together, and nothing works. a friend of mine sent me his bands new demos...the zip file is like 35MB.it only gets a little ways before just dropping down to 0.0kbs and then it just sits there, not loading crap. I can re start the connection, and it will start downloading again, but after about 30 or 40 seconds.the connection gets killed again. Same goes for a torrent...if I try to download a torrent, it'll work and get pretty fast, up to 190kbs.but after just under a minute, connection killed. why is this? does verizon kill data connections that come in to fast or something? i have a friend who tethers with at&t with his iphone, he got the demos downloaded in like 12 min on his iphone tethering app. do i need to do some tweaking to my phone so I can download? im not trying to go crazy, but I'd like to atleast be able to get large attachments and such.

Also, the other day when i was on charger I had a popup tell me the what percentage of battery usage each program was using (It was saying I was using more power than usb supplied and the battery was going to die).

May 16, 2010Maybe others already know this or figured this out. Apparently our phones work a lot like a Blackberry. On a Blackberry if you hit the home key or end key to exit an app it will stay running. Same thing happens here. However, if you hit the return key to exit the app it will stop running.
I tested this out on my Incredible and it also works. I used Facebook and a couple other apps as examples. If I go in to the app and then leave the app by hitting the home key it stays as an Active backgrounded app. If I however use the return key to leave the app and return to my home screen then the app is listed as inactive cached. This could help a lot of people with battery life and sleep issues, but I'm not sure. I know the way Android works that background apps aren't supposed to really do anything There does appear to be a difference though. This also works on the Engadget app which I've heard people mention for not closing.

Nov 14, 2010I cant use my email. The gmail account works fine but the other icon doesn't. Whenever I tap on it, it FC. Whenever I reboot my phone, .android.email force close screen comes up twice.

HTC Incredible : Friendstream Force Close
Jun 23, 2010Is there any way to fix the Friend Stream force close issue without a factory reset? I feel like that would be a huge hassle just to get this app to work again.
Also, whenever I receive a message in my inbox on Facebook the page just doesn't load when I try to access it from the Facebook application. I am always forced to go to the Facebook mobile site to check my inbox and I can't do it through the app.
HTC Incredible : Close Folder After Launching App
May 5, 2010I have a few folders filled with apps set up on one of my home screens. When I open a folder to use an app inside, the folder stays open. If I hit the home button, then scroll back to the page, the folder is still open. I'd like the default action to close the folder after I launch the app.
