HTC Incredible :: Program To Backup Phone
Jul 29, 2010
I want to root my phone, I have been reading the how-to's and downloaded files. But first I need to back up my apps and programming. What program can I use the will backup the entire phone? (Note: I have my htc Incredible programmed to work on Alltel, so I want it to backup the programming too). I am good with computers, but just need a push in the right direction so if I mess up I can get my programming back and programs I bought. Without have to reset it up and re download.

So couple months ago I installed a application backup program that basically tracked what I installed. I had a log in for it. Well just rooted and knew I had everything backed up. Only problem is I forgot the name of the program! It was not My back up, or anything I had to pay for.

Is their any program to back up your apps and then when you need to restore them, auto installs them? Ive used Mybackup pro and Titanium back up and both require you to manually click install for each application.

I'm having the same issue as listed below from a post on Android Central. Thought I'd check here to see if anyone has had this as well. I've edited the post to reflect my issues. Link to original thread: HTC Mail Memory Leak/Bug ("Phone Storage Getting Low") - Android Central Forums. "I have reason to believe that HTC Mail has a significant memory leak or bug which is causing all of the "Phone storage is getting low" messages. I've had the phone for 3 weeks as of this Thursday. My setup is 2 POP3 email accounts configured during the initial setup in HTC Mail. At around 110-115 megs it triggers the "phone storage low" message. The problem is that as far as I can tell, there's no way to reduce the file size of this HTC mail app once this process has started.
I've deleted every shred of email, all In-boxes, all sent, all trash all everything from every mail folder for every account - no reduction in app size. I trashed every shred of email from the system and the HTC mail app still hovered around 110megs (and the phone storage low indicators continuing). After researching the issue online and piecing 2+2 together I realized that the only solution is to wipe the phone. The issue there is that there are no guarantees that the issue wouldn't resurface again (actually it's quite likely).
Bottom line: HTC mail seems to have a very significant memory leak or bug that causes it to blow through its allocated memory at an alarming pace and there is very little that can be done to stop it once it's started. I would strongly recommend to those of you with the above issues to not use HTC mail after wiping the phone".

Is there a program, native or download, that will back up the phone, settings, options, apps, etc.? For people familiar with BlackBerry, I am looking for something like Desktop Manager.

I'm coming from a Blackberry and I love that I was able to backup my entire phone on my computer with the desktop software. Is there any comparable application or software for Android (even if its not free) where I don't have to root my phone?

Without having to backup the entire data partition, is there a program that will backup 'private' applications. For example, I am using Astro File Manager. When I go to Application Manager/Backup, some programs are listed as private so I can't select them to backup.

I am about to embark on the ROOTING journey for my new Droid-X, and wanted to know if there was a way to backup the phone so that I could get it back EXACTLY to where it is before the rooting. If not, is there a way to get it 100% back to factory default settings? I haven't really customized it yet, so if I break it during rooting or BRICK it, I know there are UNBRICKING steps posted already, but I want to make sure I don't end up with a FUBAR phone during this process, or afterwards.

It looks like I may have to replace my incredible due to some hardware issues. Is there a way to do a basic exact backup of my current incredible so I don't have to set up the new one. Like keep my custom scenes, apps, settings, etc so I don't have a lot of set up time on the replacement?

I saw some similar threads in other phone forums (eris, EVO) but I'm wondering if anyone has had luck with this on the Dinc.
Verizon is shipping me what I assume is a refuted phone. If I turn it on, root it, and throw in my old SD card, will there be any trouble doing a typical nandroid restore?
i saw written previous issues of the title of the nandroid folder name (something about the correct phone serial number?)
edit: alternative could be titanium backup, but i don't know if one's preferable to the other.

Is there a good program to backup your all your apps, files, shortcuts, bookmarks and personal settings. I know Astro has a "backup" function but I don't know what it actually backs up. I know you can back up your contacts Google.
I guess what I'm asking is if there's a way to "clone" your Droid, not just the SD card.

I'm getting my Dinc replaced under warrantee due to dust under the screen and the camera lens starting to fall off for no reason. I want to back up the device as completely as possible, but the main thing I want are the apps. I have a lot of apps and it'd be a pain to re-download all of them. What is the best way of doing this? Is there an app or...?

My phone took a tumble down the stairs and screen cracked in a lot of places, but still usable.Should i backup all my apps using astro ? Also, all my contacts are phone contacts, not gmail contacts, will HTC sync application help me backup my contacts and restore them? I haven't replaced an HTC phone yet so please forgive my innocence. I'm a converted BB user and now never going back to anything but Droid. Also, will i be receiving LCD screen instead AMOLED screen? Is that the rumor ?I do have insurance, i'm sure it will cost me more than 50 bucks to replace it. Prob 100$ right?

Rooted DInc then removed some apps like city id. I had purchased some apps before I rooted and I was curious as to first, how and where do I backup using titanium backup? Second, say if I factory reset my phone then put the paid apps back on would it still recognize that I already paid and still give new updates? Also side question, if I remove friendstream will facebook still sync with the facebook app and sync photos my phone book?

I was trying to do the RUU program that so many people have used and I ran into an issue! It was started and it was preparing or looking for my bootloader then all of the a sudden it gave me an error saying something about my USB! I never touched my USB and all I see the the HTC logo. I haven't unplugged it from USB and haven't pulled the battery (don't want to kill it!) Any recommendations? I did as the program asked as well! I quit applications, turned off sleep/hibernate, etc etc!

However, it does not have the "Navigation" program (with the blue arrow) on the phone! It was on my old one.
What am I missing? Did they forget to load it?
I went to the Market and it's not there either.
Has this happened to anyone else who had to get new phones?
What can I do to get the Navigation program back on my new phone?

Where do I go to download or how do I get a hold of the sync program for my droid incredible phone if I happen to connect it to the PC? Also, while I am at it. I noticed that a lot of people have the weather cool looking feature on their phones, does that use up your data or is that part of the phone like the clock is?

I didn't see any threads regarding this. For anyone with an outdated/expired version of swype, feel free to download this version (it's for the Evo, but works perfect).
just uninstall your old version of Swype, download and install the new "Evo" version (using a program like Astro) and there ya go!
