May 5, 2010How do you control the screen being on or off during a call? My screen blanks, I guess to keep you from hitting buttons with your ear, but when using a bluetooth headset it also blanks. Sometimes tilting the phone wakes the display, sometime the top button does. But sometimes neither hs an effect, and the screen remains off until the call is over. Anyone else have this, and figure it out? Are there settings somewhere to control this behavior?
HTC Incredible :: Getting Screen To Stay Lit On Call
May 22, 2010This is only a problem when I make calls which require entering a number to select an option(i.e., press 1 for...).I know the screen times out(?) when on calls normally and that it will light up again when it senses the call has ended, but if I have to see the keyboard to press a number to make a selection, pressing the power button to bring it up usually takes too long. By the time I get the screen up and press a button, the system on the other end doesn't recognize it. OR, I'll press the power button and it won't come up at all.

Aug 25, 2010I have a weird problem,(verizon incredible) when im streaming music via bluetooth in the car and check my notification slide down bar no problem but if im on a call using bluetooth via the car stereo when i want to look at my notifications or press "2" for an automated system my screen will flicker on and off and you have to time it right to catch it before the screen dims im talking a split second i thought maybe it was the proximity sensor that dims the screen to save battery when the phone is on your ear but i have no clue why this is, i ruled out the proximity sensor cause the phone would be in my hand or on my bracketron universal windshield mount
Also if i try using the power button to bring the screen on again it does nothing but confuses the phone and slows it down
I know its not the screen timeout cause it comes back without hitting the power button.
HTC Incredible :: Screen Shutoff During Call?
May 27, 2010When you make a call, you naturally put the phone up to your ear. I noticed that as soon as it is near my face, the screen shuts off. At first, I thought it was the motion of bringing your phone up to the ear that does it. But test it by putting your hand near it and it shuts the screen off.
I have a number programmed that uses P's (pauses). It pauses for 3xP's while the phone rings, then enters a couple more digits (my office voicemail code). But when the screen shuts off, it never dials the additional digits. If I hold the phone in front of me, the screen stays on and it dials all of the numbers.
So how does it know the phone is up to my ear? I would like to shut this feature off...

Seems that maybe 1 out of every 3 or so phone calls I get, especially if the phone's been relaxing in my pocket for >1hr with no use, when I receive a call, the phone freezes.
The receive call screen appears, but I can't swipe down to receive. Can't swipe up to ignore, and hitting the power button on top simply ignores the call.
Anybody else ever see this? It's been fairly constant since I got my phone a couple months ago.
Quick edit question - is there a screen I can find on the phone that shows all my recent downloads? I have ASTRO and can find stuff on the SD card alright, but tracking down files I've downloaded from my email/dropbox, etc is always tough for me.

May 3, 2010I've searched around and so far I've only found apps that reject (forward to voicemail) calls from a particular list. What I am looking for is a way to reject a call from he lockscreen or incoming call screen.
Is there a setting I am missing or is this something that needs to be done with an apparently?

It's annoying when multitasking because that functionality remains regardless of whether the phone call is the active screen or not. Aug 18, 2010I've had this issue happen a few times, so I disregarded it, but a few hours ago it happened 3 times in a row.I'm in the middle of a phone call, and suddenly I hear a beep, and I look at the phone and the call was disconnected (I'm back on the 'Phone' screen). I then realize that the phone becomes unresponsive (the screen doesn't respond, same thing goes for the Home/Menu/Back/Search buttons).The only thing I can do is press the top 'Off/Lock' button to shut off the screen, then press it again, and everything goes back to normal.Is anyone else experiencing this problem? If so, any advice/solutions?My phone is stock, no rooting or roms. I've downloaded a few apps from Android market and that's about it.My 30-day purchase window is up in about a week, so I'd like to get this resolved before then to avoid any headaches.

When on a call, the proximity sensor doesnt work, so the screen goes black. And when i press the end call button to turn the screen back on it just ends the call. Is this normal? Or a known issue?

I tried the pattern lock thing it has but if a call comes through or a text message comes through it still allows you to answer and/or view the message without entering the lock pattern..

Jul 23, 2010Most people seem to want to be able to lock their screen while on a call (using bluetooth headsets mostly), and I'd prefer it didn't go to lock while on a call. I just find it annoying when I've been talking for a few seconds or minutes, then take the phone away from my head, having to wake up the screen by swiping my thumb across the light sensor, set the unlock pattern, hit the home button to leave the dialer app, find the app I need to look something up in while talking, etc. And sometimes it doesn't go to lock at all! Does anyone know why/when the screen goes to lock during a call only? The rest of the time, it takes the full 10 minutes I have it set for before dimming out and shutting down. But usually, during a call, it seems like only a few seconds.

May 31, 2010I just got the phone the other day. I have had the eris. I had a big problem with in call the screen goes out and i can not end the call. The screen wont turn on either when i open the slider takes a good minute and half till the screen becomes "awake". Is there a fix for this?

Nov 19, 2009When I'm on the phone and talk for over 15 mins or so my screen won't come back on.It goes off when I put it against my head like it is supposed to and comes back on when I pull it away like it should. But after 15 mins or so it goes off and wont come back on when I pull it away. So I can't end my call and when it's time to end the call of course I can't, nor can I get a call waiting. I had my phone's display set to time out after 10 mins then changed that to never time out but it still does this. However this setting shouldn't matter I wouldn't think, but it doesn't help either way. I'm having to do a battery pull to get my screen back,I have no other issues other than this. I hope I don't have to take it back! Will this be fixed on the December update? I plan on putting a call into Verizon tech support later but wanted to get your thoughts. Any ideas?

Sep 14, 2010I've been using bluetooth lately to connect to my car and talk while driving. When I'm finished talking, and the other person hangs up, I can't turn my screen back on. Bluetooth must still be connected because my car radio won't come back on, almost like the phone call is still going on. Only way to get my screen back on is to take the battery out.

Mar 10, 2010I wrote about this earlier, I had an issue when making a call the screen stays off and I cannot access the keypad or anything while on a call when I remove the phone from my ear. I had this happen again today, but noticed it went away when I took the call indoors. This seems to be an issue when I make a call outdoors, maybe it is the bright sunlight, but the screen refuses to come back on when i am on a call outside. I had to use the keypad to make selections on a call today but was unable to since the screen stayed off. Have others noticed this happening in bright light calls outside? Also, what can be done to correct this?

This has happened a few times when I dialed the wrong number and wanted to just end the call before it connected, but when I flipped the phone back over from my ear it stayed off and the call kept going. Also, sometimes it will flash on for an instant then go back off again, still cannot end the calls.

Apr 5, 2010I am hard to impress and this device really impresses me. No bugs or issues yet that I haven't been able to fix. Camera works great. Screen is beautiful. Everything is solid. Call quality is great. Signal is rock solid (better, in fact, than my old LG, which was itself good). GPS is crazy accurate (can tell which couch I'm sitting on within the same room).
Motorola, Google, and Verizon is a team that's hard to match if the owner is ready to invest the time in setting up the device properly.
