Now that we installed ChompSMS, we need to turn off the notifications in the stock messaging app so that we don't get two notifications for each message. But I don't find any settings in the messaging app menu so that I can change it there. And I can't find it in the general Settings. So, how do I do this?

Anybody know why my green LED stopped blinking all of a sudden? I just got 2 texts (stock messaging app) but my light is not blinking anymore. I see the notification on the top of my screen, but no light. The light isn't broken as it still lights up w/ emails.

View 16 Replies View RelatedI have just updated my phone to 2.1. Also I have two email accounts. One Gmail and one dslextreme account. It used to be that when I got email from one or both accounts I would get a little envelope in my notification bar. Dragging that down it would show me the email in the Gmail account and the dslextreme account. But now I have a third notification with the google M in it. If I click it it opens a "conversation" window with the email. I can respond to it and it works just fine. But if I click on the Gmail email I get the usual looking email format. Now the interesting thing is if I ignore the google M and go straight to the google email and deal with the email from there the google M conversation disappears. Thank you for bearing with me through that lengthly explanation but here is my question. How do I turn off this google M conversation? I don't want that third notification nor do I want that style of email delivered. I want to go back to the standard type of email delivery. It's coming to my phone alright but I don't want dual notifications. I remember when I was setting up this new OS that a box came up and I checked this google M not understanding what it was but I have looked through all my settings and can't figure out how to shut it off.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm sure I'm missing something stupid. I've turned off notifications in the stock Messaging app (I'm pretty sure). And those look different (they have the green text bubble as the icon). Can anyone clue me in as to what that 2nd notification is below the blue Handcent icon? And can I get rid of it? I'd like to keep the text messages private is why I ask - I have Handcent and the stock Messages under App Protector. And I have Handcent's option checked to not show messages in the bar, just the notification.

Also noticed on some but not all of the text messages I get, the CB# appears on each one. Now I saw the setting in messaging that you can disable that, but I think that is for my text messaging going out to the other person correct? Is there any way to stop this from appearing in each text I receive? The weird thing is, it does not happen for all users in my contact list, just a few.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm so frustrated with MMS.I can't get them to send using Handcent or ChompSMS without numerous forwarding attempts. I can receive them immediately with no problems from other people even on differenct carriers, but they won't send.I finally got my SMS to stop crashing/force closing and deleting all my messages by uninstalling the Antivirus app. Im on day two (since the uninstall) without a force close.I had no problem sending MMS until I installed Handcent. I even uninstalled Handcent.Rebooted and re-installed. No outgoing MMS without 2 or 3 message forwards. I tried the Airplane Mode trick. No change. After uninstallling Handcent again, I chose ChompSMS to see if that works. Same thing.it's a no go for sending out. The stock messaging app is the only one that works, but it's so BORING.

Since I use Google Voice for Visual Voicemail, and want to use Handcent for messaging, there is really no use for the stock HTC Messaging app.

Whats the scoop behind which one is really better? The stock messaging app or aftermarket apps (handcent and chomp). I use Handcent, and lately I have been finding it to be quite laggy and slow, even with cache cleared and all threads deleted. Is the only difference between stock and aftermarket, the fact that you can customize? I would much rather have a plain looking stock app that performs well, then a customizable aftermarket app that is slow. I am just looking for some opinions.

View 6 Replies View Relatedso my droid incredible began to slow down && i had to figure out what was making my phone so slow.. come to find out.. it was Handcent SMS -- the text messaging app i had been using ever since i bought the phone.. i updated it the last time it notified me of an update && then it stopped working... always force closing.. so i had to use chomp SMS instead.. but i hate chomp -- handcent is ten times better.. i tried reinstalling handcent on my phone but i couldnt even find it in the android market so i was assumed the maker removed it from the store.. do any of you know of any other text messaging apps that are really good for the droid incredible? or do you know of any way that i could possibly put handcent SMS back on my phone?

There does not seem to be a global setting for things, and there's not individual settings for this, for example, with the calender, you can't turn off the sounds without turning off the on-screen pop-up reminder. I couldn't find anything specific through a search, but whenever I get an email on gmail I get a white envelope notification. That is linked to the gmail folder. At the same time I get a black envelope with a white outline. I cannot figure out what email folder/widget/whatever it is linked to and I have to manually clear the notification.
Is there anyway to turn off the black envelope?
This was brought up a lot when the Inc was just released. Everyone pretty much said that we had to wait until we were rooted. But has anyone found a way to add the battery percentage on the stock battery icon at the top? I hate having to install an app and have another battery icon in the notification bar with this.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThese are our only phones and they stay on the night stand while we sleep. With the BB there were sound profiles you could easily select and the most useful one was "calls only". You select that and all of your notifications go silent except for incoming calls which would ring. This was perfect for switching on right before bed.
This is more of an issue for my wife because she's usually on call 24/7 so it's important to wake up or hear incoming calls overnight so vibrate mode isn't going to cut it. But at the same time, she has various notifications for email and messages and all of that so it's incredibly tedious to have to manually tweak all of those each night before bed and then turn them back on. So, at the very least is there an app or a way to easily switch the phone into a phone call notification only mode? A full blown sound profile app would be great too, but just being able to easily turn all notifications silent but the ringer with a few taps on the screen would be huge.
Are there any good apps to replace the stock "people" app? With the stock people app is there a way to search for a contact instead of having to scroll?

Is there any way to set the stock messaging app so that you get a constant reminder that a text message has been received? I've missed quite a few already because the led light only flashes for a short time. I uninstalled handcent as I was unable to send or receive picture messages with it, and the app was slightly laggy when quite a few messages were stored. Looks like I'll have to go back to handcent if I want a constant flashing led as a reminder. Does chomp offer the same customization?

It seems anyone who I have as a friend on there is showing up in my contacts list, sometimes several times.It makes selecting a contact to send a text to a right mission. I downloaded Handcent the other night and started using it for messaging. I feel like I am completely missing something because I don't see an option to turn the stock messaging system off or to make Handcent my primary messaging service. As a result, every time I get a text I get two notifications and the message pops up in both applications.
