View 1 RepliesI'm so frustrated with MMS.I can't get them to send using Handcent or ChompSMS without numerous forwarding attempts. I can receive them immediately with no problems from other people even on differenct carriers, but they won't send.I finally got my SMS to stop crashing/force closing and deleting all my messages by uninstalling the Antivirus app. Im on day two (since the uninstall) without a force close.I had no problem sending MMS until I installed Handcent. I even uninstalled Handcent.Rebooted and re-installed. No outgoing MMS without 2 or 3 message forwards. I tried the Airplane Mode trick. No change. After uninstallling Handcent again, I chose ChompSMS to see if that works. Same thing.it's a no go for sending out. The stock messaging app is the only one that works, but it's so BORING.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI downloaded Handcent and loved it, but the issue I had was that I was now getting notifications from both the stock HTC Messaging app and Handcent.
Since I use Google Voice for Visual Voicemail, and want to use Handcent for messaging, there is really no use for the stock HTC Messaging app.
Is there a way to disable it completely?
Now that we installed ChompSMS, we need to turn off the notifications in the stock messaging app so that we don't get two notifications for each message. But I don't find any settings in the messaging app menu so that I can change it there. And I can't find it in the general Settings. So, how do I do this?
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhats the scoop behind which one is really better? The stock messaging app or aftermarket apps (handcent and chomp). I use Handcent, and lately I have been finding it to be quite laggy and slow, even with cache cleared and all threads deleted. Is the only difference between stock and aftermarket, the fact that you can customize? I would much rather have a plain looking stock app that performs well, then a customizable aftermarket app that is slow. I am just looking for some opinions.
View 16 Replies View RelatedI think I know the answer already but it's worth asking again! Is there any way to set the stock messaging app so that you get a constant reminder that a text message has been received? I've missed quite a few already because the led light only flashes for a short time. I uninstalled handcent as I was unable to send or receive picture messages with it, and the app was slightly laggy when quite a few messages were stored. Looks like I'll have to go back to handcent if I want a constant flashing led as a reminder. Does chomp offer the same customization?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm sure this has been asked many times but for anyone using the stock messaging app is there a way to get rid of all the unwanted contacts it brings up from Facebook? It seems anyone who I have as a friend on there is showing up in my contacts list, sometimes several times. It makes selecting a contact to send a text to a right mission. I was happy enough with Handcent until today but due to MMS problems I thought I'd give the stock app a go.
View 18 Replies View RelatedI downloaded Handcent the other night and started using it for messaging. I feel like I am completely missing something because I don't see an option to turn the stock messaging system off or to make Handcent my primary messaging service. As a result, every time I get a text I get two notifications and the message pops up in both applications.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI noticed that the contact pictures that are being used aren't those in my contacts (they have the FB pics) instead they are using the contact pictures I have up on Google in my contacts. Is there anyway to change that? Also, the box around the image makes the image very small, anyway to get rid of that?
View 1 Replies View Relatedi completly deleted the stock messaging app, ive been using Handcent, but now im having issues with Handcent sending mms so i looked it up and im not the only one. but it seems that people are still able to use the stock app to send mms. before i got handcent i was using the stock app and it was working fine.where can i get the stock app from? i am rooted and do not have the stock app backed up.
View 4 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone else's stock messaging app lag a lot? It seems like it takes longer to send text than through handcent or chomp. I can't compare it to before the update because I used Handcent but I do like the stock better, just wish it wasnt so sluggish.
View 4 Replies View Relatedfor some reason a lot of mms message i get come with a download button. wouldn't be a big deal if the messages would actually download. is sprint having trouble today or is it cm6? this is using the stock messaging app in cm6 stable.

View 1 Replies View RelatedHandcent NEVER worked on my phone and ive been having troubles with chomp lately so i went back to stock. The things that bug me about the stock one are:
- When i receive a picture message, its displayed in a slideshow and only have 5 seconds to view it before it disappears.
HOW DO I DISABLE THAT OR ADD MORE TIME TO VIEW IT?
- I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to save a picture i receive,
HOW DO I SAVE THE PHOTOS?
When I first got my EVO, one of the first things I heard to do was get Chomp or Handcent... I got both and was getting triple notifications... So I said i'll bear with it for a bit till I see which one I like best... I though Chomp was a lil better than handcent so i went them...
Then I kept getting double notifications even when turning off the stock messaging notifications....
So I said lemme give the stock app another try.... I can't front, its nice! I think I might even run with it for a little while to see if I like it enough to use all the time...
I have galaxy ace duos and accidentally deleted stock messaging app, used for a while handcent sms and go sms pro, but for ten days I can't send a single message with this two applications. I can receive sms though.
bring back stock message app because that one always worked smoothly.. Gingerbread 2.3.6 is the version off course.
My phone (Xperia Play) came with pure Vanilla Gingerbread,. I've used SO many messaging apps like GO, Chomp, Handcent, Pansi, etc. and I just decide to go back to the stock app every time I switch apps after a day or two. The reason why I switch is because of one thing, the threads take too long to load on the stock app. I want to start texting. I have to wait literally 10 seconds just to open up a 1000 count thread. I don't like to delete my messages.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI previously used Handcent but have switched back to the stock manèging app for reason likely only important to me.My question is I can't seem to figure out a way to assign a particular ringtone(notification sound) to a particular contact. I know it has to be right under my nose but I have exhausted the ways that I know.

View 2 Replies View RelatedOk, how do you get the stock messaging app to retrieving/running in the background? Yes, I have unchecked "Auto-retrieve" and I have also unchecked "Received Notification" but whenever I check it, it is still running no matter how many times I end it... Grr
View 8 Replies View RelatedSecond, is it possible to ad 'GROUP CHAT' in the stock messaging app? Go SMS allows this currently but it's a very slow app. Stock messaging app works great, so it would be great if it could become a possibility.
FYI: My current phone is Evo LTE.
i wanted to ask using root uninstaller what if i delete the stock messaging app of ics and get some nice messaging app from play store? Will i face any problems ?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if there was a mod/tweak out there that would let me put group chat on the default messaging app. I know about go sms and handscent sms, but each has its own problem. I have a Verizon GS3 and was hoping there was a way to do this.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am running 2.3.6
View 2 Replies View Relatedi been using BB v4 with fabs nex theme only thing that gets me is i got all black everywhere but when i click on the stock msgs it bright and was wondering if there was way to make background on msgs black.I know handcent and chomp do it but i am just a fan of the sms popup.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have the contacts set up in my starred groups already but can't figure out how to text the contacts in a specific group (e.g. Family, CoWorkers, Friends) from my stock messenger. I can do it using the handcent app and although I have the notification setting off on the stock messenger the message still makes its way to the stock messenger and handcent which I believe would take up twice as much memory on my phone causing it to lagg. if I am wrong in assuming this and what I can do to fix this whether it be the correct way in sending a message to a group or deleting the stock messaging app, etc...
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have seen other devices (such as the HTC Hero) that have an app called IM, to my understanding this is the Stock Instant Messaging application. Is there any way I could get it on my Vibrant? I really want to try it and see if it can replace eBuddy.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI rooted my Droid Eris 2 days ago and have had multiple problems with it. The first problem was it wasn't receiving a signal at all. The 2nd problem I had was after I had wiped my device flashed the ROM and rebooted it kept saying htc.touch.input.app has encountered a problem and i had to force close it. Now it is not letting me get in to the stock messaging app to read any texts.
