Is anyone else having problems with a gmail account and activesync? It had been working fine. A few hours ago, I kept getting errors. Finally deleted the account and recreated it, but then when it tries to sync, it just syncs forever and never finishes. I am only trying to sync the email, not the calendar and contacts.

Just to share my experience, I setup ActiveSync for Gmail using the instructions posted in that thread, then setting the frequency to "as items arrive". I now get my Gmail litterally within 5-10 seconds of actually receiving it. In fact, I just tested it out by sending myself an email on my computer, and my phone beeped within 5 seconds.
Looking at my phone without any extra processes running, it doesn't seem to be "scanning" or trying to pull email every so often. Maybe I'm wrong, but this seems like a legit real time Gmail "push" to my phone. I'll have more info on battery life over the weekend, but for now this works great.
This is my first post on the androidforums. I usually just read what other people wrote, but I can't seem to find a related post for my current problem.I date someone overseas in S. Korea, and since there's no way to send text msgs in Korean from here, I talk to her using activesync with a gmail account. She can check emails on her phone from Korea, and my phone sends me notification everytime I get an email from her. Basically it's same as texting except it allows me to type in Korean and doesn't cost a dime.For the reasons mentioned above, saving battery life isn't much of an option for me. I need to have activesync or gmail push running instantly. I tried using "check email every 5 minutes", but just imagine having to stay idle for 5 minutes everytime you text with your friends.
As of today, gmail push on android seems to work with 5 - 30 minutes delay (or manual refresh). However, Exchange Activesync will not even allow me to sync gmail (Different errors every time even though I'm putting the same information; gmail address,m.google.com as server address, username & password). I thought activesync just allows me to use "gmail push" on HTC mail app, so I don't quite understand why gmail app works (despite the lag), but activesync won't even let me sync my mail. Activesync last worked on 06/17/2010.Also, gmail push works with no lag when I'm on wifi. Is this normal?I'm starting to think there's a problem with the Sprint network or my phone. Gmail push also works instantly if my 3G bar is white. If it's greyed out, no emails come until the 3G bar turns white. Now I have to turn on AIM or MSN messenger to keep the data flowing and manually keep the 3G bar white. Then gmail push comes instantly. It's pretty ridiculous because the battery then lasts about 2-4 hours.
I'm noticing that when I get a message on my phone and opening it to mark as read, it isn't updating my gmail account online, at least not in a very timely fashion. The message just stays bolded as unread. I even tried refreshing my inbox by clicking on 'Mail' in gmail, and it still showed as unread.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am having an issue with my HTC Evo 3D where I am unable to have more than one active Exchange Activesync (EAS) account syncing. I'm trying to have my work e-mail and my hotmail account with push using EAS. What I have tried:
- Setting up my work e-mail, then my hotmail. Can receive work e-mails instantly, but not with hotmail.
- Setting up my hotmail, then my work e-mail. Can receive hotmail e-mails instantly, but not with my work e-mail.
- Setting up my work e-mail in one mail client, and my hotmail in a separate client. Same issues as above, one receiving push e-mail and the other not.
If I set up one and then the other in the default HTC mail client, the first one will work with push the but second one won't. BUT, if I then do a manual sync to make the second one "catch up", that second one will start receiving with push but the first one no longer does. I can keep doing this, and it seems like only one can be "active" at a time.
I've tried different clients with the same results, and tried Touchdown which many people recommend, but Touchdown is built to allow only one active profile at a time (so only one EAS account pushing or polling).
I'm beginning to think it's a device limitation on the Evo 3D but it would be great to get around that - I've seen bits and pieces around saying that, due to licencing, iPhones can have up to 5 EAS accounts at a time, and different Android phones can have varying numbers, but haven't seen anything particularly clear or definitive.
is anyone else experiencing a lack of automatic syncing for gmail? I seem to only be getting my new emails delivered to my phone if i do a manual sync. Is there a setting that i can check somewhere that may have gotten switched off somewhere?

On 2.1, the second I got an email, it showed up in my Gmail inbox (no notification, but that wasn't a big deal, i just manually checked it) anyway, now its not doing that, and I have to manually refresh Gmail, which is annoying. Anyone else having this issue? Anyone know how to get around it?
View 16 Replies View RelatedYesterday I noticed that my emails from my phone were not getting sent.Today I noticed I had a bunch in my outbox that said sending.I have the sync turned on and all my other Google apps sync (Calendar, Picasa, Contacts) but gmail never updates.I can't force it to send and receive either.And I can't remove my account to set it up again without doing a factory reset.Any ideas why just my gmail is not syncing anymore?BTW I tried to uncheck all sync options turn off phone and back on then check them again without any luck.

View 4 Replies View RelatedEver since putting a Froyo ROM on my Incredible, I've not been able to get my secondary gmail account to function properly. No automatic syncing from the phone to the cloud. I sometimes will get message pushed out to the phone but not all the time.
I've seen reports that a official OTA for the Evo came out last night that has fixed this gmail problem for them. So I'm wondering if it is possible for someone to get the gmail application off of the OTA release and then allow it to be installed on an Incredible running some version of Froyo.
I just left the BlackBerry world. Been an avid Gmail user and I own my own business. Emails sent to my business email is forwarded to my Gmail account. In Gmail, you can respond to emails as if it was coming from the business email (server). This was a simple sync I had with Blackberry emails. However, I'm finding difficulties setting up the same thing for my new HTC Incredible (Verizon provider).
View 8 Replies View RelatedI'd like to use my gmail account connected via exchange activesync. I set that up with various email apps and it works nicely.
The only problem is that I don't use my gmail address as my known email address. I have an alias that points to gmail. When I email people, I want that alias to show as the email and reply to addresses.
When I have everything set up via IMAP/SMTP, I'm able to do that with K9.
Unfortunately, when connected via the Activesync way and I send mail, it always shows my gmail address to the recipient.
Is there any way/app that would allow me to do what I want? I do have my alias set up as a send mail as option in the gmail web interface.
Just got a Desire and am happy with it except for the problem above. I've got my emails working fine on the gmail app, but for some reason when I try to sync gmail with ActiveSync exchange I keep getting 'authentication error'. Has anyone else had this problem or know how to resolve it? Also, anyone who's got it working could you let me know your settings? I think I'm using the correct ones but might as well check.

Just yesterday I configured my primary gmail email on a Samsung Epic using Exchange activesync.. It was working and syncing very fast. Except for some VERY IMPORTANT missing features : Default send From, Send From dropdown for all emails in my gmail account and Reply From the original recipent - I was at least happy to get push gmail.
However, today, in an attemp to find some way to send emails as my other domains on the gmail account I deleted that gmail account from the Phone and attempted to configure the secondary account via ActiveSync with something like googleme@mydomain.com... when that did not work (got loading message at the end and it never came back), I presumed you can't do that.. but now I can't even add the orignal gmail acccount back in with Exchange activesync. Same endless loading message ???
so I gave up and let it automatically add gmail account - smtp with 30 minute get sync. Errr.
Did I break something? I'm still able to authenticate into my google account as the gmail primary and the secondaries from the web.
Did I change something on the googl eacoount to cause this? I did add a 3rd email and also made it the default send as on the web client - though that has no bearing on the Android email client.
The only thing I have a problem with so far is how the standard ring tones are continuous. there is no break in between. it's like a non stop ring. I tried downloading one similar to see if that would give me the break I'm looking for. But it must be the phone causing this because the downloaded tone did the same thing. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

View 29 Replies View RelatedI cannot attest to pin lock or remote wipe, but basic syncing of exchange e-mail calendar and contacts continues to work after I downgraded my $45 plan to the $30 plan yesterday. Haven't had a call from the Exchange police yet. Just an FYI in hopes to save a few people some money.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen using various 2.2 leaked builds or cooked ROMs, I had problems with activesync behaving properly. I even loaded and rooted the leaked 'official' Rom that came out yesterday and it didn't sync right. Constant sync, sync errors, etc. I reverted back to 2.1. I downgraded to 1xx radio and original hboot today in hopes that the actual ota will not have the same 2.2 ActiveSync issues I had with cooked builds. I am now thinking that if the official I had yesterday wasn't right the ota won't be any different. Is there a known problem with 2.2 having activesync issues? Do I want to not upgrade to 2.2 until this issue is revolved?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just received my Incredible yesterday to replace my Blackberry Storm. I cannot complete the Exchange Activesync setup because it says it cannot contact the Exchange server. I've tried numerous times: placing https:// in-front of the server name, putting <<domain>><<username>> in the username field while keeping the domain field blank, checking and unchecking the SSL box. Nothing is working.
So I downloaded Touchdown. I entered the same exact settings that I believe should have worked for the Mail app and Touchdown connects just fine. It gives you the option to connect via Activesync only, Exchange 2007 or Exchange 2003. I selected Activesync and I'm seeing all my emails, contacts and appointments.
Is there something on the server side that could be preventing me from setting up the HTC Mail app. This is a major deal breaker for me. I guess, I could use Touchdown but I'd prefer not to.
I was wondering if any one encountered the same issue. I connected my phone to a corporate exchange server via activesync and everything is working fine for all the generic folders(inbox,send,deleted etc...), but i have outlook rules set up that emails get routed to various subfolders under inbox(NOT PST) based on who the sender is and I never receive any notifications for those messages. so i have to manually browse all those folders to see if i have any new mail. i tried touchdown for exchange, but really didn't like its look and feel...
View 17 Replies View RelatedI have my email, calendar, and contacts set up through activesync exchange. So when you add someone from your phone, it gets pushed to your outlook as well as vice versa.
I've been adding this one contact on my phone for the last few times, and after few days his contact simply disappears.
I've tried adding his contact both on the phone as well as on Outlook, and when he calls, his name would show, but after few days, it stops showing the name but just the number, and when i go back to my contact, he's no longer listed there.
I'm using Frankenrom, and used Titanium to restore my email account settings.
Exchange from my PC is being pushed to my phone, but I can't add anything new from my phone. From the calendar program, if I select Menu-->More-->Calendars, my Exchange calendar isn't listed.
Also, if I go to the main Menu-->Account & Sync, there is no Exchange or Activesync listed. If I go to Add Account, I can select Exchange ActiveSync and it has my account info in it. Clicking Save, it just thinks for a bit then closes. Clicking Discard does pretty much the same thing.
Where could I look to manually delete my ActiveSync account?. Basically I'm looking for a config file somewhere to delete. I'm guessing it is like this since I used Titanium to restore account settings rather than setting it up manually.
My Gmail App has stopped automatically notifying me of new emails. I can manually sync and get the emails but not automatically.I think I may have accidentally stopped a running service that has caused Gmail to stop automatically syncing my emails. My calendar and contacts automatically sync just not email.I'm thinking my only option is to reset back to factory settings.

I have phone storage low notification (although there is 15mb left) could this be something to do with the gmail not syncing issue.
