It stopped working last night. Even if I go to accounts and sync in settings and manually press sync nothing happens. I tried clear data also in applications. I have phone storage low notification (although there is 15mb left) could this be something to do with the gmail not syncing issue.

I have set everything up to sync with my gmail account.
However, all my contacts are stored as phone so i know i either need to change them all to Google or export them and import into Gmail (a pain but there you go).
I have no contacts in gmail so i added one and it synced perfectly to my phone.
However, as a test, i added a new google contact to my phone and synced. It didn't show up in Gmail and I believe this can take some time, and this would be fine but it has disappeared from my phone!
It seems as if the sync has wiped out the contact from my phone because it doesn't appear on my gmail account. THis means it only syncs one way which is useless for me as the whole reason for me doing this is to get a backup of my contacts in case of emergencies!

Have got pretty much everything going and have now switched my personal email from Yahoo to Googlemail.I moved my contacts from yahoo into gmail, all fine. I have also previously got my phone contacts to sync from the phone into gmail.Having got both lots of contacts into gmail i have sorted and merged them on my PC so they are all correct. However, i cannot get the contacts now to sync back from gmail to my phone?When i go to account settings for google and ask it to sync it syncs the calendar and the googlemail but not the contacts despite the refresh symbol appearing next to the contacts option.Basically, how do i get my phone to suck the contacts back out of google and on to the phone itself.I am using google contacts in the phone menu, not SIM or phone so it is nothing to do with that.
View 3 Replies View RelatedRight this might be a completely fucktard question but i'm going to ask it anyway coz i don't want to lose information that will take me ages to gather again.When i was first putting contacts into my phone a month ago (how time flies) i kept losing the information i had put in because my gmail account was empty and when it was syncing with the phone it wiped what i had added to the phone.I disabled the contact syncing and carried on filling my people section up on my phone. Now, how do i get the contacts on my phone into my gmail account on the pc?I don't want to just enable syncing again incase it wipes all the contacts i've put into the phone!

I'm a n00b so I wanted to ask some questions about this and how much it can help the battery, and also if it's worth actually leaving as it is. If you can shed any light on the queries below I'd greatly appreciate it
1. When I set up my phone I added people as Google contacts rather than Sim contacts but wasn't really sure of the difference and what it would mean. Is it just a case of the phone finding those people on your Gmail account if you select to add as a Google contact or is there more to it?
2. How frequent are syncs with Google contacts and calendars and what exactly is synced between my phone and my Google account? Is it actually battery intensive or does it make very little difference?
3. I set up a Google Calendar a long time ago and subscribed to my girlfriend's calendar, but have deleted mine and unsubscribed to hers today as I just don't use it. Does this mean nothing is then synced with the phone as nothing exists?
I'm trying to get my head around exactly how my Google account links with my phone and how it affects the phone.
Over the last few days, my Gmail has stopped syncing several times intermittently, with even a manual refresh having no effect. Coincidentally or otherwise, downloads from the Market have been taking absolutely ages to start over roughly the same period. Not sure whether this is connected, but these symptoms started at about the same time that I started getting "Low on space" warnings on status bar - though I still have about 13MB spare - surely enough to sync a few emails and complete small market downloads? Rebooting the phone seems to get Gmail working again, and kicks pending downloads from the market into life as well. Which would seem to indicate that memory is not the issue. This is a stock Desire, with the recent OTA firmware update. I am now also wondering whether this may be linked to that OTA update?

I can manually sync and get the emails but not automatically.I think I may have accidentally stopped a running service that has caused Gmail to stop automatically syncing my emails. View 14 Replies View RelatedI'm noticing that when I get a message on my phone and opening it to mark as read, it isn't updating my gmail account online, at least not in a very timely fashion. The message just stays bolded as unread. I even tried refreshing my inbox by clicking on 'Mail' in gmail, and it still showed as unread.

View 1 Replies View RelatedFirst night I got my evo, my first android phone, I was just going over the settings, seeing what control I had in the OS etc. I went into running applications and clicked on gmail and forced it to stop ("until you start it again" from what it said). Since then I have not been able to get push gmail to my evo. I've cleared the data and cache from manage applications to both gmail storage (or something) and gmail. How to get true push email again!
2nd question: I transferred my IPhone contacts into a .csv that I uploaded on my gmail contacts. I synced them from my gmail to my evo. But everytime I go into phone, it only shows me 3-4 contacts compared to the 300+ I synced from my gmail. How can I transfer them from my gmail account, onto my phone?
is anyone else experiencing a lack of automatic syncing for gmail? I seem to only be getting my new emails delivered to my phone if i do a manual sync. Is there a setting that i can check somewhere that may have gotten switched off somewhere?

On 2.1, the second I got an email, it showed up in my Gmail inbox (no notification, but that wasn't a big deal, i just manually checked it) anyway, now its not doing that, and I have to manually refresh Gmail, which is annoying. Anyone else having this issue? Anyone know how to get around it?

It was working perfectly and then my emails were taking ages to come to my phone then i updated to froyo and reset my phone and it was working really well at times, emails would even come to my phone before it came on the computer. but now, its back again for example, when i registered here, the activation email didn't come, and after about 4 mins, i had to refresh it, and then it came. Does anyone have a fix for it?is it cos i have installed too many apps? or something like that? I did change my mobile internet pack and after i got off the phone with the customer service agent, i realized my internet wasn't on and then it had changed to another APN which doesn't seem to work, other internet stuff work. So is that the problem?

I recognize that the HTC EVO doesn't have the "Sync Groups" option on some other HTC Sense phones, where you can sync specific contact groups from Gmail.So from my research in this issue, it is the "My Contacts" group that gets synced over to phones, yes?Provided this is all correct, here's my issue:When I set up my phone it originally synced all 100+ contacts in my "My Contacts" group.Once I did the research & understood how this worked, I went back into Gmail and audited my contacts.Now I only have about 20 users in the My Contacts group the users I want to show up on my phone.However, now that I'm running a Sync on my EVO, the 100+ contacts are not reducing down to the 20 that I selected for the "My Contacts" group.In short, it doesn't appear to be genuinely syncing the group changes that I made on the Gmail web client.
Can anyone advise me what I need to do? Shouldn't the syncing be two-way, as in any changes I make to my contacts on Gmail be showing up on the phone?Little stuck here... hoping it's an easy fix. Yesterday I noticed that my emails from my phone were not getting sent.Today I noticed I had a bunch in my outbox that said sending.I have the sync turned on and all my other Google apps sync (Calendar, Picasa, Contacts) but gmail never updates.I can't force it to send and receive either.And I can't remove my account to set it up again without doing a factory reset.Any ideas why just my gmail is not syncing anymore?BTW I tried to uncheck all sync options turn off phone and back on then check them again without any luck.

It worked this morning but later on I realized that nothing had come in so I did a manual sync and sure enough I had some missing email. I checked in Accounts and Sync and Background data and auto-sync are checked as well as sync gmail. But it wont push. Anyone have any ideas on what I did? Also I'm using a rooted 2.1 on my Eris.

I have updated via Odin to Eclair, however the problem was there in 1.5 and I was hoping 2.1 fixed it. Curiously, the issue wasn't there when I first got the phone and it is a relatively recent issue.
When I read a mail in the Gmail app it should mark as read, however when I log on to Gmail from a PC it still shows as unread. But the phone will still mark it as unread.
How do I make the Gmail app show all mail read through it as read when I log on via a PC?
When I go into Accounts and Sync, I have four sync areas - Facebook for HTC, Weather, Stocks, and google
All (except for google) have an "account settings" area where I can adjiust frequency, etc - but I don't have the same for the google option - does anybody know why not? And how I can sync the google stuff (or does it sync automatically without requiring a schedule?) - confused...any help would be much appreciated - thanks in advance.
ok first, sorry if this is a thread already opened somewhere else. Please point me to it, i haven't found it yet. Now: as of 3 days ago, my Evo decided it no longer wants to sync my mobile phone numbers from gmail contacts over to my phone. Its only syncing some numbers from select random people, but mostly, it only synchronizes email addresses, nothing else. Yet again, the full contact info (no special, only standard fields, home phone, mobile, fax, work) is showing in gmail contacts, but not importing anything but email address only to the phone. Anyone figured out how to fix this? Is it a mapping issue (although i don't see how to map anything).

I looked through the settings and thought I fixed the sync options but am not sure whether I did it right. There are two arrows in a circular pattern at the top of my screen that never goes away.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI had the issue of Gmail not syncing on my Dx2. For that matter, nothing related to Google would sync! I could do it manually, but it would not do it automatically. I also didn't have any check boxes next to the individual items in the gmail settings!
What I found is that the Motorola Power widget controls ALL sync features! Almost like a main power switch for sync. Make sure you have the sync feature on this widget turned on! As soon as I turned it on, everything worked like it's supposed to.
I am not saying that this is the answer to everyone's issue, but it worked for me! I was on the phone with VZW for about an hour trying to figure this out and we were about to do a factory reset and Josh suggested that we check this..... IT WORKED!
I am supposed to get my new Nexus One tomorrow. I have been reading all weekend and I know Android 2.1 syncs Gmail well, but will if also wirelessly sync my Gmail contacts and calendar or will I need a special app?

I've tried a battery pull a couple times, no luck.Under MENU>ACCOUNTS>MENU>SETTINGS>MANAGAE ACCTS, all looks fine, there's no errors. When I tap the SYNC NOW button, nothing. I guess the next step is to remove and re-add the account. I understand that'll wipe any data on the phone, such as pics and texts. A couple questions:
1. What else will I lose besides pics and texts?
2. Is there any way to back that stuff up/move it to the SD card?
3. Is there another fix to this syncing issue out there that won't wipe the phone?
