Has anyone been able to disable the screen in which you have to swipe down to unlock the phone? I'd like to use just the unlock pattern option like on the Moto Droid, but I haven't been able to get rid of the swiping screen altogether.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI got my Droid X yesterday and for the most part I'm impressed. (I didn't realize how much I liked HTC's Sense UI until replaced my Incredible with this phone.)
So far my only frustration is the touch screen. When I'm swiping between home screens, or even in applications, it often doesn't register anything or it'll open the first icon I touch even though I'm swiping. Sometimes I have to press an icon a couple times before it'll open up as well. This is getting REALLY frustrating because I can't just do things quickly but I have to watch to see if what I selected actual opens or swipes, etc.
I've only installed a few applications, including LauncherPro. Is anybody else having any issues like this?
I would love to stop using the HTC lock screen and use only the pattern unlock - any ideas how to do that?

View 2 Replies View RelatedEverytime I turn the screen on and unlock I get this message on my home screen with the clock/wx widget. It says, "Set new clock successful!" It dissolves after a couple seconds but it still annoys me. It only happens on the screen with that widget and not with other home screen pages. I searched about nexus since it is similar and saw a few things about the app LOCKBOT, i recommend you atleast try the free version and see, it gives you unlock with the trackpad button and the ability to do custom lockscreen with different styles like Iphone, and different android locks. THis was one grip i didnt like about sense. Stock Android has the ability to swipe to unlock or swipe the other way to mute sounds, which is a nice feature, although i prefer my iphones switch the best
The bad...Ive read stuff about it crashing and being laggy, now i havnt experiended this on the INC, it runs super smooth. But i have been having a few times where the front button will not unlock the phone, maybe an update will fix this or something, but its worth a shot to look at.
Instead of trying to grab the notification bar and swiping it down, simply start ABOVE the screen and swipe down. Fast or slow makes no difference.
You can swipe it back up, or simply hit the back button.
I'm having an issue with my phone. Most of the time my lock screen is focused on screen 4 (I use 5 screens) instead of on whatever screen I go to when unlocked. Does anybody else have this problem? I'm using Launcherpro if that makes a difference.
View 2 Replies View Related1st time poster long time lurker. I have done a search on Google trying to find a solution or at least a reason as to why my phone is behaving this way. Search produces nothing. This week my phone started behaving strange. I will get a call, but the caller ID no longer displays. Suddenly the screen starts to flash and I have to unlock the screen in order to see who is calling. By the time the screen is unlocked the person has already hung up. I have not done anything (add new programs) in the last 2 weeks and I am not sure why this is happening.

Ii haven't made any big changes to my Desire and all was working well. suddenly a couple of days ago i noticed that things slowed down significantly.
exmples: when drawing the unlock screen, there is a big lag till the home screen comes up huge lag in opening programmes or menus
so, the only app i recently installed was the BA (british airways) android app. could this have affected the whole phone?
what steps can i take to check what might be wrong?looking at the SPARE PARTS app, i can see that CPU usage shows a huge bar for "init".i don't know if this is a normal process? anyone got info on this? might have nothing to do with my phone lagging of course.
The application is kind of a book. The first screen is an opening screen (ImageView), and clicking on it will lead to the table of contents.
The table of contents, as any of the other chapters is a separate activity. It has a LinearLayout that contains a Header (TextView) and a chapters list (ListView).
The chapters themselves also built the same, so each item in the list is a different paragraph.
Clicking an item on the chapters list (in the table of contents) will switch to the activity with the relevant chapter.
Swiping from left to right on a certain chapter (including the table of contents) will switch to the next chapter.
Swipe left will lead to the previous one. Note that there is no mistake here: Text direction is RTL.
At first, the swiping only worked when the swiping was performed on an empty areas of the screen, and not on the contents of the ListView. So in order for the swipe to work on the items as well, I have performed the following (after consulting some guides in the web):
1. I have added a GestureDetector member to the activity.
2. I have initialized the above member with a private class overriding GestureDetector.SimpleOnGestureListener and implementing onFling. It is a straight forward implementation: Just calculating the direction of the swipe and determining the next chapter.
3. Clicking an Item: I have added the current activity to the ListView by setOnItemClickListener. This activity implements onItemClick by switching to the correct chapter.
4. Swiping: I have added to the ListView, by setOnTouchListener, an interface which implements onTouch by calling the GestureDetector member.
The problem is that this doesn't work as expected:
a. Scrolling the list doesn't work well: I have assumed that like any other application, swiping the finger will start a fast scroll that will slow down until stopped. Instead the scrolling is fixed according to the finger movement: As long as the finger moves, the list is scrolled and the scroll is stopped the moment the finger is raised from the screen.
b. Looks like overriding both setOnItemClickListener and setOnTouchListener causes trouble. If I swipe right on one of the chapters in the list in the table of contents (say chapter 7), I will get to the first chapter as expected, but clicking the back button, will return me to the table of contents activity and the same chapter 7 item will be highlighted.
I downloaded and installed all of the galaxy live wallpapers through the xda developers forums and they look amazing but they all cause a huge amount of lag especially when swiping through screens. Any thoughts as to why this might be happening and if so any solutions?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI am looking for one setting or utility in Android systems generally, I will try to explain problem: I have one 7" tablet (Emgeton Consul 3 with 4.0.4 ICS) and Phone (Samsung Galaxy Young) with Jellyblast 3.0.4 rom?/mod? (claims about itself it is android 4.1.1).
I have three desktops (homescreens?) on phone. Moving finger left get me to desktop number 2 (right of 1), if i do it again, i am at the third desktop and from the third by swiping finger i will get to first. This is beaviour i dont want to. I want to go 1 >> 2 >> 3 >> and stop. And ofcourse back 3>> 2 >> 1 and stop. This is how is my tablet working, and I want to "tell" phone to behave the same. Have you experiences with some setting / utility / system modification that can do it ?
I am just wondering if there is like a app where the widgets just move rather than both the widgets and background move when you are swiping from screen to screen
View 1 Replies View RelatedHopefully someone has had this problem. My phone has just recently started to have this problem. When I am at the home screen, my phone will begin to swipe to the left by itself even when my finger is nowhere near the screen. When tilting the phone or aggravating the accelerometer, it begins to do it more. Also, some of the icons are selected green by itself (but not actually selecting the icon if that makes sense).
Argh, I really don't want to hard reset (not even sure if that'll fix it).
I have used many mods that swips internal memory by the external memory and vise versa..
So everything worked perfectly but installing apps no longer work.. When I install an app it says app not installed..
BUT installing apps through Play Store works perfectly as it should..
My device: Galaxy Note 2 running CyanogenMod 10.1 nightlies ..
I've noticed when I unlock the phone sometimes it flickers for just a second almost as if the autobrightness is adjusting abruptly, does anyone else have this sometimes? This only happens when I unlock I think and 10% of the time.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo here is the story basically. This is technically my third droid. The first one had something wrong with the screen where it wouldn't do anything I wanted. For instance...if I tried to press any of the keys on the right side of the screen, they wouldn't respond. Whatever...got the phone replaced in-store. Second phone comes, the slide is VERY loose. The screen actually had about a millimeter and a half on the left side of the screen that it would give when pressed. It made a very loud tap sound when pushed. OK, called Verizon tech support, they send me a DROID 2. I'm thinking SWEET. Not really... Not even 4 days into owning the thing, the screen randomly shuts off and won't come back on without a battery pull, sometimes 2 battery pulls. Over the past few days this has happened multiple times, each more frustrating than the last. I'm getting irritated with mototola. I just called Verizon and they are sending out yet another device. I'm getting annoyed with this whole thing. I shouldn't have to call tech support every other week it seems. Does anyone have a fix for this problem? I've done a factory reset, among other things. I have my old 16gb card from my D1 in there...could that do it? If anyone has had this problem and found a fix for it let me know. I also have the Verizon extended battery..could that be doing it? Please...any help would be appreciated. I'm rooted if that helps at all.

When I unlock it, the bar stays across the screen for a good 5+ seconds before it unlocks and my home screen shows up. Just wondering, my D1 was fast and didn't lag at all.

Wasn't this supposed to change with the update to the new one where you have the circular slide? I tried doing a search on this but all i kept finding were apps to download to replace this.
