I have had the 'low memory' notification on my phone for a while, plus Handcent has been extremely laggy lately... so I decided to delete some of my SMS as I have never deleted them and Im sure I have thousands...
I have tried to delete the threads in handcent, force delete in handcent, and delete in the stock messages app.. and every single time the phone winds up hanging and eventually the program will FC.

I broke off with a girl I have dated for some months and would like to delete all messages from her to get her out of my head and sight.
However, nothing happens when I press "menu" and then "delete thread".
I am suspecting this might have something to do with the length of the thread - it consists of nearly 1800 text messages so perhaps the phone just crashed due to the shear size.
I'd rather not want to delete one and one single SMS.
I'm having trouble deleting a message thread that is over 1500 messages.. Using the stock Message Delete just results in a force close after a few minutes, and using the app called SMS Quick Delete results in nothing at all, even after running for almost half an hour. Is there an easier way to do this? Is it possible to connect to my computer via usb and browse to manually delete the messages?

View 2 Replies View RelatedHad my desire for about 4 months now, tres happy with it, one of the first apps i downloaded to use instead of the stock was Handcent for SMS.Today I take it out to send a text and the conversation screen is blank!Can't find texts anywhere - including if I go into the traditional 'messaging'.And then to top it off, I send a text to my sister and it goes to my wife!? Despite the conversation window showing the correct name and profile photo.Anyone else had any issues with Handcent? Reading other posts, I now know that its also a battery drainer, so I'll be uninstalling it, but I'd like me messages back first!

Gmail app will display the last message, and the thread tabs behind will say "5 read messages" for example, but when I press on the tab for older messages in the thread, nothing happens. Basically when you press on PHONE and the dialer with the keypad and the contacts/call history shows up. Basically, that screen have my FACEBOOK contacts and my PEOPLE contacts. And because of that I have like 1200 contacts...some I dont even talk to like that and some dont even have phone numbers but its there. I dont know how to get rid some of it. Is there any way within SMS Text Messages you can delete previous parts of the conversation? I see that it saves all my conversation with a person so I have todays conversation and yesterdays too. However, I want to delete all of yesterdays text messages but still keep the conversation thread I'm having currently. Does this make sense? It was something I liked with my old phone- the "delete previous" option. Is there something like this on the HTC Incredible?
View 1 Replies View RelatedBefore I rooted I would go through my sd card and delete files that were no longer needed such as application files from applications that I would download and later delete. Now that I'm rooted I am a little hesitant to do that because I'm not sure if there are files on there that are necessary for root.
For example: the SU file on the SD Card. Is that the program itself or is it just the install file. If I were to delete it would I lose the superuser or would it not effect it? I just got a 16 gig sd card so I am wondering what files I need to transfer over if there are any.
Some of my threads have over 600 texts in them, and are taking forever to load up. Is there a way/app to archive these and then delete them as they go?
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo I have a 3 year old Droid Incredible. The older it gets, the worse it responds to basic tasks. Today, I turned on my phone, only to get several error messages from Google related apps saying they have failed to start.
So I tried clicking on some Google apps, like Google Maps. The icon was replaced by this:
In fact, all of the Google related apps were like this. I tried selecting Google maps, only to get an instant force stop message. Soon afterwards, all of the Google apps disappeared, including YouTube. Google Play and Google Search widget have both been replaced by Failure to Load Gadget messages. I tried looking for any signs of anything Google related, with no luck. I restarted my phone, I cleared caches, and I unmounted and remounted my SD card for some reason. No dice.
I have a stock HTC Incredible. I have done nothing like unrooting to it. What could be the cause of the apps disappearing?
Is there any way I can delete exchange emails from my Incredible without deleting them from the server? Still would like to be able to access messages from my laptop at a later time like I could with the pos Storm.

Is the wifi-tethering that installed with the root free, or does it still add that extra $30/month Verizon has on their stock-tether?
Is it possible to underclock the Incredible? My phone never has speed problems, but the battery never lasts the day. It'd be nice to have some trade-off.
Lastly, how do I get a custom ROM onto my phone? Are there any stable ones available yet?
I have the droid incredible and I use the handcent app for my text messages. Everytime I try to delete my messages from the inbox, the app force closes and when i go back to the app, it'll keep force closing until I shut the phone down. When I turn the phone back on, all my messages are still in the inbox. How I can erase the text messages from my inbox?
