My phone is set to arrive tomorrow, and all I want to know are two things:
1. Did you charge the phone for the 8 hours (or until full) before you used it, or did you get to playing with it right away?
2. What were your results, in terms of battery life? It seems like every phone manufacturer says to do this, but I'm wondering how much of a difference it actually makes.

My phone reads: 5h 32m 55 s since unplugged. And its at 5% now. Isn't this abnormally low? I used it somewhat frequently but not all the time or heavily by anymeans. Also, GPS and wifi and bluetooth were all off using the android power control widget. My battery usage shows: 42% android system, 25% camera (i took like 10 pics, nothing crazy), 13% cell standby, 12% display, 6% phone idle, 2% robo defense. This is after charging overnight to 100% And I've had the phone since thursday, so its like the 4th charge cycle. Is my battery defective? I read the other threads about low battery life but this seems BEYOND low, this seems defective.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am running 3g even though i am in 4g area. I turn my wifi off even though i have wireless at my house. I have the cdma auto thing on. Yet i am still only getting 5 hours max off charge with my phone. What gives? I do have GPS enabled on all the time but that should not matter. I love my phone no matter what, but this battery shit is pissing me off. My HTC touch can go 2 days with no charge and still be able to make a phone call. HTC EVO not even 5 hours before it dies.
View 18 Replies View RelatedVerizon just switched me this week to a refurb Ally from the Eris (after 4 defective handsets). It takes between 6-8 hours to charge the battery and then with light use it runs back down in 3 hours (by light use, maybe 2 short calls and 4-6 texts). I have checked and it is NOT the 50% signal bug, and I have turned off everything that could be draining the batter that fast. Is this a normal charge time for this device?

I acquired an ADP1 through our research group at school since we were developing an application for Android (WifiMapper, helps you remember APs you've connected to by mapping them). Regardless, my iPhone 3GS from near battery death to full charge took maybe an hour and a half in USB, let alone a wall charger pushing a guaranteed hour and a half. However, I've found that my ADP1 takes at LEAST 6 hours to charge from around 5% charge. That seems like a long time to me... for instance, today it was at 12%, and I charged it for 3 and a half hours and it only went up to 52%.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI manually installed the FRG01B update yesterday. And since doing so, I have noticed a ridiculously steep drop in battery life. Do I need to be running FRG22? Is that available to download manually, if so? I also know that I don't have the version of Facebook that was causing battery drainage. ATK didn't seem to help at all (it might have even made it worse). Is there anything I can do to vastly improve battery life? It would be great if I could get the phone's battery to last at least 24 hours. I already uninstalled ATK, by the way.

View 12 Replies View RelatedIf I could hit 1000 hours without rebooting and I was able to. Some thoughts...
1. Unless I forgot how a freshly rebooted phone feels, it feels no different
2. I did have a few random reboot type actions but the counter never reset. Not sure what it was about
3. Browser loves to crash or just lock up which I then had to force close and restart it. I blame this on an online game I play that is not optimized very well as I have to restart chrome on my work computer after a time as it eats all the memory.
Other then that, phone works perfectly
So, when you guys put your phone on the charger do you charge it for a long time like overnight or just for a few hours in the morning or during the day until the green light comes on? Also, when you are charging it do you just put it to sleep and have it charge that way, or do you do a full power off and charge it that way?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI was using my DI as a GPS today, in a mount on the windshield, and had it plugged in the whole time. It was about 90 degrees outside and I had the AC blasting in my car as I drove along the highway.....I noticed after a while that the bolt in the battery display was missing, meaning it wasn't getting charged, and that at the same time the notification LED was alternating between orange and green. I couldn't figure out why it wasn't charging anymore, but after I changed the vent in my car from forward to indirect (there is a vent that shoots air upward right below the mount, coincidentally) it cooled down and started charging again.

The only way I could actually do it is via FM transmitter. so my question is, what is the best set up for this? I want to charge the phone as well as transmit music from it. Currently I use the stock calendar widget (that takes up a full screen) and have an Astrid widget on another screen.It would be nice to have a widget (preferably free) that does both (or it can sync with a different task management app if someone has a better one than Astrid).I know about the Pure Calendar widget and that seems to be the highest recommended one, but are there any others?

Edit: Well, I just found an answer to the second question. I didn't realize the "free" memory is immediately used up by cache. More free memory = larger cache. So, that said, I would still like to know what the "recommended settings" would be.

They said there wasn't a hot ticket about this issue and offered me a replacement battery. I suggest everyone call them and let them know this is problem. 8664498358 I refused the battery as I do not believe it is the issue. I told the rep that I just wanted to make the issue known. I suggested everyone call to let them know there are several people with this problem, not so you can try to get a free battery. I also called Verizon to order a spare battery, then I ordered a separate battery charger from fommy.com to deal with this issue until it is fixed. Shame on you to those who thought they could "steal" a battery from HTC.

This is my first Android phone and so I am wondering about what the "essential" Android apps are. What finally sold me on switching to Android was the Endomondo sports tracking app. I was contemplating getting a smartphone and a Garmin Edge bike computer, but when I saw a post about Endomondo, I axed the plans on the Garmin and decided to pull the trigger on the DX. In case this helps people in their advice-giving, I am a cyclist racing in college right now, I have an almost unhealthy interest in everything gadgets/computers/video games (and I suspect I'm not the only forum member like this ), I love sports (hockey, lacrosse, football, basketball, baseball, cycling, wakeboarding, skiing, surfing, etc.), and I love movies and TV (especially Entourage and Californication). So, with all of that in mind, who's got some good apps that I simply must have once I get my shiny new piece of hardware?

Right now if I am using my phone for browsing, video, etc. it will run the battery from full charge to dead in just under 4 hours. If I just leave the phone turned on but with no apps running (standby) it runs out of power in roughly 48 hours. Is this the battery life I should expect from this phone?

I can download free apps no problems but when i try to purchase any, I put my card details in, then click the buy button, a processing note comes up stating; "saving card details" then after about 15 seconds it says; Attention server error. and it does not process the transaction. It says to retry or cancel.
