May 12, 2010

I can not buy applications from market.. I can download free apps no problems but when i try to purchase any, I put my card details in, then click the buy button, a processing note comes up stating; "saving card details" then after about 15 seconds it says; Attention server error. and it does not process the transaction. It says to retry or cancel.

HTC Incredible :: Google Talk Error / Market Apps Downloads

May 8, 2010

Anyone lately get the Google talk authentication error notification repeatedly and find that they can no longer download apps from the Android market? Mine is going on the third day now and endless Google searches reveal that this problem has affected various Android devices worldwide, including the Incredible that just came out. I've tried all kind of suggestions but none work and there doesn't seem to be any official response from Google on the matter. I wonder if it is a hardware problem since these forums are not buzzing on these issues at all. In my case the phone worked perfectly for 2 days after activating and knowing how high the demand has been surely more people would be experiencing the same issues were it a device or cloud software problem. If anyone else has the same problems please post here.

Samsung Vibrant :: 4 Hours Of Use Or 48 Hours On Standby

Oct 4, 2010

Do those numbers seem normal to the rest of you? Right now if I am using my phone for browsing, video, etc. it will run the battery from full charge to dead in just under 4 hours. If I just leave the phone turned on but with no apps running (standby) it runs out of power in roughly 48 hours. Is this the battery life I should expect from this phone?

HTC Incredible :: Battery Now Lasts Over 12 Hours With Regular Use

May 21, 2010

After dealing with short battery life like many of you, sometimes only getting 4 hours after a full nights charging and the phone just sitting on my desk,i figured out how to make it go the full day, even with regular use of web and email/sms. For me, it was simply reducing the frequency of syncs between all the various social networks I'm part of. My setting used to be every hour for Facebook, Twitter, and the worst culprit, Flickr. i would notice the phone constantly getting warm to the touch even if it just laid on the desk. Since changing the frequency to manual refresh, my battery is still well over 60% by nights end. YMMV.

HTC Incredible :: Charge Phone For Recommended 8 Hours Before Use?

Jun 8, 2010

My phone is set to arrive tomorrow, and all I want to know are two things:
1. Did you charge the phone for the 8 hours (or until full) before you used it, or did you get to playing with it right away?
2. What were your results, in terms of battery life? It seems like every phone manufacturer says to do this, but I'm wondering how much of a difference it actually makes.

HTC Incredible :: Takes 5.5 Hours To Charge 5% Of Battery

May 1, 2010

My phone reads: 5h 32m 55 s since unplugged. And its at 5% now. Isn't this abnormally low? I used it somewhat frequently but not all the time or heavily by anymeans. Also, GPS and wifi and bluetooth were all off using the android power control widget. My battery usage shows: 42% android system, 25% camera (i took like 10 pics, nothing crazy), 13% cell standby, 12% display, 6% phone idle, 2% robo defense. This is after charging overnight to 100% And I've had the phone since thursday, so its like the 4th charge cycle. Is my battery defective? I read the other threads about low battery life but this seems BEYOND low, this seems defective.

HTC Incredible :: Battery Completely Drained Itself In Under 2 Hours

Jun 14, 2010

Put my phone in my locker two hours before I went on break at work, came back and it was hot to the touch, almost too hot to hold, and was giving me warnings of it turning off. It turned itself off before I could see what was going on. Got it home, threw it on the charger, was completely drained.

I put it in my locker without anything on, had just sent a text message, went to home screen, and locked it. Set it down and that was it. I had just charged it 3 or so hours before and it was on 100%.

What killed my battery life? I checked my battery usage in settings and it was 97% Android OS and 3% something else, forget which and its off to charge up.

HTC Incredible :: Battery - Used For A Week With No Issue Now Dies Within Hours

May 24, 2010

I go to sleep with the phone next to me at 70% battery life, wake-up 2 hours later and the phones dead. This has happend twice now, before this battery life hasent been an issue.

I've used the phone for about a weeks and everything was great, until two days ago (not sure what happend, I did install a 16gb SDHC card).

If the 16gb SDHC card is whats causing the battery life to be good for ~2 hours unplugged with 0 usage, then this is useless..

The GPS is off, WiFi is off, signal strength is about -85dB.

Facebook is set to every 3 hours
Weather Every 6 Hours
Exchange is set to push with a 10kb attachment limit (doesnt seem to even work).

For an example I just charged the phone to 17%, unplugged it for 2m 27%, now at sub 9% battery..
Android - 56%
Cell - 20%
Display - 17%
Phone Idle - 7%

Right now this phone is as useful as a brick, i've uninstalled the weather app and a bunch of other 3rd party things that I thought could have been causing it, but this is the second time now.. My battery life sans being plugged in is around 2 hours tops, with or without using the phone.

Under battery usage the android system is usually over 60%.

Should I do a full reset and if so how do I go about doing that?

HTC Incredible :: 1,000+ Hours Uptime - Freshly Rebooted Phone Feels - Browser Crash Or Just Lock Up

Oct 17, 2010

If I could hit 1000 hours without rebooting and I was able to. Some thoughts...

1. Unless I forgot how a freshly rebooted phone feels, it feels no different
2. I did have a few random reboot type actions but the counter never reset. Not sure what it was about
3. Browser loves to crash or just lock up which I then had to force close and restart it. I blame this on an online game I play that is not optimized very well as I have to restart chrome on my work computer after a time as it eats all the memory.

Other then that, phone works perfectly

Android :: Market Error Handling

Jun 16, 2010

I have some required try/catch statements in my application that in my testing never get called. I have sent them up with:

Log.e("messaage", e.toString());

For my debugging and now that I'm ready to release I am not sure if I should take that out or not. I see in android market you can get error/crash reports and while I do not expect my app to catch any errors, I would like to know if that happens and wondering if I need specific syntax for that. My question is what should I do in the catch statement for these errors? I'm already handling the error from a user standpoint...

HTC Desire :: Starting Download Market Error

Oct 8, 2010

I have had one of those "Starting download" errors in the market for almost 3 months now (!) and I'm starting to get tired of it.

I'm using a Desire with android 2.2. My problem is this: I can download from satellite network, but not via Wifi at home. However, it seems to be a 1% chance (or close to that) of successful download using the Wifi.

I have logged in and out of Talk several times, did a couple of factory resets, formatted the SD card, cleared cache from HTC checkin service, market, google talk and downloader (if thats what its called in english). I tried to set the network as only WCDMA, only GSM and both auto, still no results. Everything else seems to work using the Wifi at home, except market. I called HTC for some help, and the only thing I got to know was that it wasn't my mobile operator, or other settings on my phone that caused this problem, and they also thougt it might be the network at home, which I too thought before talking to them. So I did a little research about that, and tried to open port 5228, even though that seemed weird, as it sometimes worked downloading. I also read about the change from googlemail.com to gmail.com, but I never had a "googlemail.com" address, so I hope this isnt the problem. Now HTC wants me to tell them if I can fix this, and how I did, so they probably have no clue either:S

I have also tried other things, which I don't remember right now, but if anyone can list up something to try, I'll see if I have done it or not.

Android :: Redirect To Market Is Causing A 404 Error

Nov 24, 2010

For one of my clients they want to redirect customers who are viewing their mobile site from their android to the android market. The url is something like http://market.android.com/search?q=com.company_name , which when clicked on as a link functions correctly but if done as a redirect via php header('location : http://market.android.com/search?q=com.company_name'); will resolve to 404 page not found.

From a pc the link will never resolved, it will only work from an Android phone and only when the link is clicked on via an a href.

Summary

a href='http://market.android.com/search?q=com.company_name' - Works when clicked

header('location: http://market.android.com/search?q=com.company_name'); - Does not work: 404 error

Android :: Market Server Bug - Download Error

Sep 4, 2010

I found a problem with the Market yesterday:

Upload a new APK version 134 After the upload finishes, cancels the upload Upload a new APK (different than the last uploaded file, but still version 134) Publish

10 minutes later I found my app was missing from the Market. I went to Developer Console and it asked me to agree to new license agreements, so I did. At this point, my app's status is again visible from the Market. I felt satisfied and went to sleep.

Next morning I got a flood of e-mails saying that my app shows "Download Error" in Market, and no one is able to install or update. I tried myself and say "404" error in logcat. Apparently the APK has been lost by Google server.

I uploaded a new version (just rebuilt and bumped version to 135), and I verified that the app can be downloaded again.

I guess the moral of this story is to always verify that you app can be downloaded after uploading ....

HTC Desire :: A Network Error Has Occurred - Market

Oct 11, 2010

Is anyone else experiencing this annoying error regularly when trying to use the Market ?

"A network error has occurred. Retry, or cancel and return to the previous screen."

I've been getting this for the last few weeks both on wifi & 3g, always when I have good connectivity on both voice and data.

I can see a few posts about it on the net going back to last year (none with any solutions) but I just wondered if it's affecting people on-mass (if so then it's obviously a network issue as it says).

I can usually hit Retry a few times and it eventually works but it can take several attempts.

HTC Hero :: Error Download Unsuccessful On Market Apps

Jul 16, 2010

My phone was working fine and I had downloaded numerous apps with no problems. All of a sudden, when I tried to download apps, they would just be stuck, saying "downloading..." for days.

When searching for a fix for this problem, I was told to clear the Google Apps Cache & login again to clear the problem. I did this and it did not fix the problem. It actually wouldn't let me connect to the market apps at all anymore. So, I searched for a solution to this new problem. The best option was to do a factory reset...which i did.

After the reset, I could not get the market apps to download. Every time I click install on an app, I get the Download Unsuccessful error...please try again. I searched solutions and tried to set up a new google account per those solutions. This still did not fix the problem. I still cannot download anything.

Now I have a reset phone, with no apps! Very frustrating. It seems like I lost all of my data and made it worse.

Android :: Server Error When Saving Cc Info From Market

Aug 15, 2010

Many of my buyers are getting a "Server Error" during the purchase process of my app from Android Market. The error occurs only for people who have not purchased from Android Market before and do not have credit card credentials stored in a Google Checkout account.

During purchase process from Android Market, users are brought to the screen to enter their credit card info. When they save the data from this page (Done button), they get a Server Error or "attention, a server error has occurred".

Started happening around August 3rd, 2010, and has been fairly continuous since. Limited response from Google so far, but supposedly they are working on it.

There is a convoluted work around, (make sure gmail account is synced to phone, go to checkout.google.com on a PC, enter cc info there, then go back to Market and make the purchase). But Google Checkout and Android Market need to fix this.

I suspect the actual error is thrown by Google Checkout, since they are the ones storing the cc info.
