View 5 Replies View RelatedI was experiencing the "freezes" that others have complained about. The phone itself would freeze up after taking a picture or I'd get a black screen right after activating the camera. After some experimenting, I found something interesting that might help others with this problem. I don't understand why this would work, but it does, at least for me.
If I activate the camera while the phone is vertical and wait until the picture comes on the screen and then turn it horizontal, I have no problems, it takes pictures from then on either vertically of horizontally. But if I am holding the phone horizontally. and then activate the camera, I get the black screen or if I do get a picture, the camera freezes after taking the shot. Maybe the part of the OS that detects orientation is having compatibility problems with the camera software?
I love my HTC Incredible, but I've compared my Incredible to my friend's Incredible. The camera quality is TOTALLY different. We set both phones on the same setting. His picture is crisp and can take detail quality picture without any flickering or noise problem, but mine totally craps out.
View 1 Replies View RelatedDroid Incredible 2.2 no root default camera app user. When I tap to focus on the camera and am really close to something it goes from blurry to sharp and then blurry at the last second (when it snaps the picture) I took this video to demonstrate what I mean. Is there any way to take a picture like this? Or to manually focus with the stock camera app? Or an app that will help me take good quality macro pics of coins, pins, etc. I will pay for an app. I saw posts with the macro camera lens but I have no desire to glue a metal washer onto my camera lens.

View 9 Replies View RelatedIn store Verizon and customer service for over an hour led me to believe that pictures taken on my camera can NOT be transferred to the SD card that is installed. Either that is Horrible or the 4 reps I showed/spoke with are morons. I have 30 pics on my phone that I want sent to the card so I can do a hard reset. Any ideas?
View 10 Replies View RelatedWhen I take pictures with my camera on my Incredible, I'm finding that none of them are saving to the SD card, even though in the camera settings, I selected the option to save to "storage card".After I take a pic, I go into my photos, and I don't see it under the SD card section, it's in the phone storage part,Any help would be appreciated!

View 17 Replies View RelatedI'm not sure how to explain this. If I take a picture with my camera, it looks great on my phone. Colors are deep and full and the sharpness is fine. However, when I mail it to myself or try to access it from my computer, the colors look washed out and flat. It's not really a blown highlight problem and I'm shooting at 8MP. Here's an example:

I'd really like to fix this.
I'll keep this one short - I just want to know if anyone has tried some of the available camera apps, and actually noticed better Incredible photos with less noise, brighter indoor photos without flash, color rendering, or better focus. If you could explain any theoreticals on how software interacts with the hardware to produce such improvements, that would be appreciated too.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWould it be legal and ok to take images/graphics from existing free apps (such as stop/start button etc) and using it in your own app that youre developing and planning to sell? I'm not good at graphic design and there are already some great pics out there. If not how do you develop/get your own buttons for apps?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was never really big into photography as its kind of expensive, but the camera on my own s3 is pretty awsome. I was wondering if there is a guide anywhere on taking different kinds of pics etc or what the different modes are for with situations. Like I don't know what macro is etc. Just looking forward to taking some cool pictures on my phone and maybe sharing on instagram. I wouldn't mind doing more than auto pics.

I have an old cellphone that only is good for making calls and taking very bad pics, vids and sending slow txts. But I dont txt much if ever..I dont really care about photos or vids all I need is a phone to use for phoneing people and it would be nice to be able to check my email and get on the web alittle. I also carry a Blackberry PDA that I use alot. I would love to be able to buy an all in one PDA and phone/web serfing thing. The main things it must do is have what my PDA calls a To Do list. I can make a note there like (order 25 cases of white wine for joes restaurant) and it will record the not with the day and time I wrote it. Then laster once i have placed the order i can go back and change the not to read (ordered 25 cases white wone for joes restaurant) and it will update the time and date. Then once the order arives I can move the note to a Done box where it will let me know I have done this task and it will record when I completed it. So does anyone know of a app for Driod that does this?
View 4 Replies View RelatedFrankly, I'm fine with the video quality. It could be a lot better but I don't use my phone for anything serious. The audio quality is horrid. I pulled a video into MediaCoder to find out why. That is 12.8kbps at 8,000hz sampling rate. To put this in perspective; A low quality MP3 is 64kbps at 44.1khz (44,100hz). That is 5 times the bit rate and more than 5 times the sampling rate.
A decent quality MP3 is at the very least 128kbps. The audio that the Evo camcorder app is 1/5th the quality of a crappy MP3. This is a rather simple software fix. I'm not a programmer but I know how audio and video codecs work and I see no reason for this limitation. The phone can record excellent quality audio. Just download a recording app and try it. HTC or a third party developer needs to get on this. The reason the video is a bit jerky is that it is recorded at 10.01 FPS...
So all of a sudden my Handsent is acting up, long time to open, wont send pics, but will send pics if I use stock messeges. Do I need to reset the entire phone again and start from scratch or is there an easier way to fix the problem with Handsent?
View 5 Replies View RelatedDidn't wanna hijack the other thread, so I wanted to share some pics of the Innocase II that I received today. I used there products for my Curve (made it too bulky) and the 3GS (perfect case it was). Buying this case was a no brainer IMO since those silicon cases collect tons of dust. Best Buy gave a free OEM Hero skin and WOW it is a dust collector. This Innocase gives the device a better grip and makes it a touch thicker, which IMO makes the phone a better handheld device to hold. Also covers up the blah grey color. As you can see from the pics, the slider case is a great fit and gives a nice "lay on the table" design, which I love. Not much more to add, but for anyone looking for a case, this has to be the best case made for the Hero.
View 26 Replies View RelatedI tried an old(er) example / tutorial to capture a picture from the camera. But "android.hardware.CameraDevice;" cannot be resolved. Has the name changed or have somebody a good tutorial for android 1.6 and the camera? If I press a button, I want to open the Camera and make a picture. After that i want to save the picture on a sdcard and go back to my activity.

Hi Guys! I'm coding a little app, but I don't know what I'm doing wrong. The App does the following: - Launches a Service which listens for an sms, then captures a picture with the cam and sends it to a predefined email adress. (no, i'm not trying to spy somebody out... I'm using the app to get a "3G-Webcam", sort of at least)
The problem: My App works great in the emulator, but as soon as I try it on my HTC Magic (cm6, android 2.2) it stops working.

The permissions are all set, even the write to SD-card. What am I missing?
Note: I'm not using a surfaceview. Code:

Any idea why the quality of pictures is so much better when using GOOGLE? If pictures can be that good why does the camera suck when taking pictures?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to take picture by G1 camera.
I have tried almost everything i was able to find on the net about this topic. It seams there should be intent with action "android.media.action.IMAGE_CAPTURE" which really starts camera application and returns captured image. But captured image is scaled to 0.25 of original size. Another possibility I have found is to pass uri where to save captured image. I went through all available sources of camera application and it should work but does not.
For illustration, I am doing following in my example activity which creates new image, but after returning from camera, image is still empty:
CODE:..................
I am ready to write my own capturing application, but it is quite hard and I would like to reuse.
Do you know correct intent action name and extra name to pass to capture image?
My camera won't take properly colored pictures any more. It started out as an intermittent problem but now it's just all the time and it really bugs me. The camera on these phones sucks to begin with but it did come in handy some times. This is the kind of pictures it takes now.
