View 5 RepliesIs there a way to turn off the flash and/or the shutter sound of the camera when taking a picture?
Flash Mode says auto under it, but the box is grayed out and I cannot select it to change it.
This is the same for the auto focus feature, I am unable to select that as well.
Does anyone know if the Flash can be turned off for taking a picture when it is dark, flashes only work for a few meters and I find everytime I take a picture at night the picture come out bad

Black screen only, even though both the Camera and Camcorder apps behave like they're working (with a black screen). Cannot take pictures at all, can take video, although no image is shown and playback of videos is a completely black screen.
I look in the camera and it looks like the shutter is open, although I'm not 100% certain what a closed shutter would look like. I think I can see the lens.
I did a full System Restore, the problem did not go away.
I've tried the camera app from the marketplace, facebook, etc., all treat the camera in the same way: just a black screen.
Trying to take a picture, the focus noise doesn't even sound.
This was working prior to the update, albeit in a leggy manner. Should I return my Droid X, or is there some other software / use fix I have not tried?
I've put the phone in vibrate mode, and silent mode but it still makes that beep beep noise which is annoying. is there a way?

Has the name changed or have somebody a good tutorial for android 1.6 and the camera? If I press a button, I want to open the Camera and make a picture. After that i want to save the picture on a sdcard and go back to my activity.

The App does the following: - Launches a Service which listens for an sms, then captures a picture with the cam and sends it to a predefined email adress. (no, i'm not trying to spy somebody out... I'm using the app to get a "3G-Webcam", sort of at least)
The problem: My App works great in the emulator, but as soon as I try it on my HTC Magic (cm6, android 2.2) it stops working.
CODE:.............
The permissions are all set, even the write to SD-card. What am I missing?
Note: I'm not using a surfaceview. Code:
CODE:......................
I was experiencing the "freezes" that others have complained about. The phone itself would freeze up after taking a picture or I'd get a black screen right after activating the camera. After some experimenting, I found something interesting that might help others with this problem. I don't understand why this would work, but it does, at least for me.
If I activate the camera while the phone is vertical and wait until the picture comes on the screen and then turn it horizontal, I have no problems, it takes pictures from then on either vertically of horizontally. But if I am holding the phone horizontally. and then activate the camera, I get the black screen or if I do get a picture, the camera freezes after taking the shot. Maybe the part of the OS that detects orientation is having compatibility problems with the camera software?
I am trying to take picture by G1 camera.
I have tried almost everything i was able to find on the net about this topic. It seams there should be intent with action "android.media.action.IMAGE_CAPTURE" which really starts camera application and returns captured image. But captured image is scaled to 0.25 of original size. Another possibility I have found is to pass uri where to save captured image. I went through all available sources of camera application and it should work but does not.
For illustration, I am doing following in my example activity which creates new image, but after returning from camera, image is still empty:
CODE:..................
I am ready to write my own capturing application, but it is quite hard and I would like to reuse.
Do you know correct intent action name and extra name to pass to capture image?
I am using android's default camera to click images from within my app. I want to stop the click sound that it does on clicking an image. Is there a way to stop that click sound pragmatically?

View 12 Replies View RelatedI ask if there is a simple way because there is a google issue report saying that using decodeByteArray isn't possible. But that report originated in 2008 and I was hoping there was a solution not posted on there. The method listed on the issue report was to decode the format yourself, but I'd prefer to not have to put that in and slow down the program.

If it snaps silently, I might pay for it.
I can't find a way to send a picture AND a sound (or audio clip) in a text/mms message. I can add one or the other, but not both.
View 4 Replies View Related1. after taking a picture, and clicking on the thumbnail to view it, have the phone let you view it in portrait, not landscape only.
2. on board image resizing, the 5, 3 and 2mp options dont cut it. let us choose 640x480(all MP's), 800X600(all MPs) 1024x768, etc..
3. when in camera settings, when you click back to get back to the options it closes the whole settings slider. which is annoying.
Just got my new Droid X on Saturday, and started playing with it...first installing LauncherPro, and Beautiful Widgets.
Then I started to play with the camera taking pictures...I couldn't figure out for the life of me how to change the "save location" on the phone for when it takes the photos. I don't know whether the photos are being saved to the SD Card (like I WANT), or to the internal memory (which I don't!).
Is it possible that someone could create an App for the Camera to improve picture quality? Is it even possible to improve things like Shutter speed, blurriness, grain in picture and ISO through an App?

View 3 Replies View RelatedEvery Froyo based ROM I have tried when I take a picture its saturated purple. Its not blurry or anything just really purple. I tried setting the white balance and nothing seems to work. When I switch back to a 2.1 rom everything is fine. This is the only thing keeping me from staying with 2.2.
View 9 Replies View RelatedSo my brother rooted my moto Droid a few days ago and after struggling to get it to work properly with 2.2 we finally got it. However a new problem has emerged I have found out today. When I try to take a picture with the phones camera it doesn't save the picture, it doesn't ask me to save and it sure doesn't do it on its own either.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am extremely happy with my DX. My only complaint is the quality of the camera in low light. Every picture I take looks grainy. At times the flash washes everything out. I know it's just a camera and I shouldn't expect much, but for such a great device that does everything else, it's a bit of a bummer. I've been looking at low light photos from the SF and they appear to be worlds apart. Does anyone have any hints to get decent looking photos in low light?
