HTC Incredible :: Bluetooth Has Weaker Signal Than Moto Droid?
Jun 20, 2010
I upgraded from a Moto Droid due to its dropping call constantly. I have a Dinc now but my Bluetooth skips a lot when I have the phone in my pocket while running. I am using Moto S305 headphones.
There were never any problems with the Moto Droid but I cannot use the same headphones without skipping unless I hold the Dinc in my hand.

I just did a little test and sat them side by side. the moto showed -83 and the inc showed -79. both fluctuated but the inc was consistently 2-4 lower than the droid. if you still have your moto, give it a try...

I just traded in my Captivate earlier today, and maybe its my imagination, but I think my signal strength is weaker than the last phone. Maybe It just needs to warm up, or maybe I've elevated the last phone in my memory, but I seem to be getting less bars, even in open areas.

I just got the Captivate this weekend and I'm noticing at my house i am getting poor signal strength. It runs anywhere from around -100 to no service what so ever. I have been on AT&T for years and have had no trouble with my blackberry that gets around -75 to -80.
I bought the nexus one and had the same issue with that phone so i sent it back thinking it was a hardware issue.

Is there a pairing code for the Droid? I've tried the standard "0000" & "1234", but I can't get it to work.

I installed LauncherPro and loooove it. However, I noticed my battery life is even more pathetic than it was on sense. Since unplugging at 8:30, I'm down to 80% already. I even disabled live backgrounds because I thought that might be the culprit. Has anyone else found that battery performance with LauncherPro is weaker than Sense? Or am I just being sensitive?

A new FroYo version has been released for the Moto Droid, found here Motorola Droid Froyo build FRF84B leaked | Android Central well this isn't the newest and most exciting news for us incredible owners but my question is how hard would it be to port it over seeing as the both are cdma devices, both on verizon and almost the same amount of pixels. obviously there is some BIG difference between the devices such as hardware but i was just wondering. maybe combine the Nexus gsm FroYo and the Moto Droid FroYo update?

Was just curious if anyone knew if you could get the Motorola Droid boot animation on the Inc? I have been fooling around with the live wallpapers alot and thought it would be pretty cool to get the boot screen on this to. I already have the Droid sounds on here.
Answered my own question, if others are curious on where you can go for boot animations here is a good site.

I am not sure if I am doing something wrong, but I can't get my Moment to voice dial with my H710 headset. It worked fine on my old phones. Does voice dialing not work with the Bluetooth headsets? Thanks!

I have a Moto Droid and I LOVE IT, problem is I am an early adopter and am addicted to phones. I have three lines, me, my mom and sister, and I always just use their upgrades and give them my current phone which is always a newer phone because I get so many. So thing is, I can probably swing getting early upgrade on one of the accounts for the $199 price tag on release day, but I sort of feel like I'm finally at a point where upgrading is possibly just not worth it? I mean sure the snapdragon is sexy, but I'm OC'd to 1 ghz already, and that camera would be nice because Droid's sucks ass, but other than that it's just a bit sleeker due to no physical QWERTY..

I currently have a Droid rooted and overclocked to 1ghz. I just found out that I can upgrade to a new phone (I took a family members upgrade to get my Droid in October). I really like the Incredible, its fast, sleek, and I happen to like Sense a lot. Sense seems to make Android a whole new better OS. Now should I spend the $200 and get the Incredible once it is in stock again, or just keep my Droid. I used to like the keyboard, but I realize that is is more annoying than useful. Is the Incredible that much of a difference for me to switch or should I wait for something else?

My droid x signal pretty much always between -92dBm and -87dBm with 1-3 3g bars. My former droid eris would get -92dBm with 1 bar and also drain incredibly fast.
On the droid x, if I go into google maps, the circle of the cell tower appears and the place I live at is half way within the edge of the circle and the other half is outside of the circle. I always seem to be connected to this tower. Bad luck I guess that I'm on the outskirts of the circle.
Does anyone know how cell towers are distributed? Do they overlap sometimes?
I run pandora with the screen off for a half hour with the screen off and my battery is down to 70%. I have about 15% screen brightness and battery saving mode on.
yesterday, I was on meebo for an hour and 45 minutes and it was down to 60% from a full charge.

I am working on Android platform 2.1 and trying to make an app that can get the Bluetooth signal strength from remote devices. It seems i should try to read the 'RSSI'
something like : int rssi = intent.getIntExtra (BluetoothDevice.EXTRA_RSSI, Integer.MIN_VALUE);
But it just keep returning the latter default value.
Did anyone ever manage to get the value of RSSI? Do we need to pair the device before getting the RSSI?

Have just purchased the Jabra Clipper to use with my Desire as it is deemed compatible. It paired instantly and the sound was awesome. However, it is diving me mad as the headset keeps loosing the signal, sometimes totally and it is supposed to have a 10m range. I look like a plum holding my phone in front of me I am sure it is not the headset.

I'm trying to determine location via bluetooth beacons and while I can discover and find all of the devices around me, when I try to grab the EXTRA_RSSI that's supposed to come through it doesn't work.
Here's the code I'm using and I get a 0 every time.
CODE:....................

I updated my phone 2 days ago and like all the changes. Everything is good except my battery. Before the upgrade I was fine with my battery. Everything was good. Since I upgraded to 2.2 my battery has been horrible. Just horrible. I thought this was supposed to improve battery life. Is this just a glitch or something? Someone told me that some people were having problems and there should be a change within 3 or 4 days to fix the problem. Is this correct or is my phone the only one that got worse battery life since the upgrade?

I want to reach out to others here before I take my Moment back to Best Buy to exchange it for another Moment.
My signal strength fluctuates wildly just sitting in the same spot. With the Hero I got a constant 5 of 6 bars, but the Moment will vary between 0 and 5 of 6 bars. But it's more complicated than that.
It seems that whenever the EVDO data kicks in, it causes the signal strength to drop to 0 or 1 bar. Once the data is idle, the EVDO indicator turns grey and then changes from EV(^v) to EV(D). At that point the single strength will return to 3 or 4 bars.
At times, though not as consistently or often, the EVDO connection will fall back to 1xRTT and will switch between them every few minutes. This will occur even when the signal strength bars are in the 3 to 4 range.
So, the my questions are...
Does the signal strength apply to the data signal or just the voice signal?
Is there any legitimate reason for the signal strength to vary wildly like I've described, even when sitting in the same recliner where the Hero had a constant 5 bar connection and data service that never wavered?
Is anyone else having signal strength and/or data service issues?
Should I exchange the Moment for another Moment or will I likely experience the same issue?

Just wondering if anyone else has seen this issue. I have some Altec Lansing Backbeat (903) bluetooth headphones that I use with my Galaxy S. Very nice, decent quality, signal doesn't drop much, etc. Generally very pleased. My phone is however now being a pain with them....
Previously turning the headphones on, with the bluetooth already enabled would cause them to connect automatically. If i didn't have bluetooth turned on i'd have to manually connect from the bluetooth settings once I had enabled it. So far so good.
About a week ago my phone started 'forgetting' the headphones. This means almost every time I want to use them I have to pair them again. A huge pain. Even when the phone hasn't forgotten them they don't connect automagically, meaning I still end up in the settings menu. Any thoughts?

I purchased an x10 last week which came with a mw600 blutooth headset and i discovered a very annoying bug . If u use the headset with only the Bluetooth on then it works fine however if u turn the wlan on then the Bluetooth and try to connect the headset u will then get a connection only for 2 sec then disconnects
Did anybody face the same issue? It seems the wlan signal is affecting the Bluetooth were it causes frequent disconnection to the headset

I placed an order for the Incredible a couple weeks ago, and it should arrive sometime next week. I was really psyched to get the phone until I found out that the Motorola Xtreme (or shadow) is coming out in July (or so I have read).I really like the UI of the incredible, and believe the phone will fit my needs very well. I will primarily use the incredible for apps, pictures, and video. My only hang-up is that I dont really want to buy the incredible if it will be surpassed by the Moto X a few weeks after I get my incredible. Does this sound legitimate? Is the Moto X going to be that much better than the incredible?I dont love the way the Moto X looks (at least from the pictures I have seen), and I also do not really want a huge phone either. Verizon told me I can still cancel my order without a penalty, but Im not sure if I would be happier with the Moto X. What should I do?

Anyone with similar experiences? Recently I started losing my 3G signal on occasion and restarting to get it back. Right now I don't have 3G and restarting did not help. Even my wifi signal will disappear leaving me with no internet and I will need to disable and re-enable wifi to reconnect.

My Motorola Droid will turn on, but it will not go to my home. It will just stay on the start up screen (black background with white logo in the center).
Now this didn't happen until i decided i wanted the CyanogenMod on my phone. I used this tutorial: Full Update Guide - Motorola Droid - CyanogenMod Wiki.
So I started with the first step and I installed SPRecovery succesfully using RSDLite, but when it rebooted it wouldn't get to the home screen. Then on RSDLite it said "REBOOT MANUALLY". I waited longer to make sure it wouldn't turn on eventually but it didn't. I finally disconnected it and tried various things... to try and get it back to normal. Did i brick it? also my phone was already rooted.

I 'm typically at work or home. At home i usually have between 1-2 signal bars (3g) on my Inc while my wife's blackberry has 3-4 bars. and while at work, i have 0-1 bars while my buddy 10 feet away with a moto driod has 3 bars in 3g. Does the Inc inherently have poor signal strength? or do i have a dud?
