The call was from Seattle Washington and I live in florida but the caller left a voicemail saying " press 3 to be put on our do not call list" what the heck is this kind of making me paranoid about what apps I download and what permissions they ask for. Should I be worried? And do you think it was from updating the app it must of been a minute or so after I updated it

Does anyone know what happened to the New York Times app? It hasn't updated a story since December 1st. The app no longer appears in the market place and before I uninstalled the app, it no longer showed up under "downloads" within the market place app.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIdk what else i can do. i started out on rooted 2.1. At first it was complete fine up until a few weeks ago. Once it started i decided to flash a barebones rooted 2.2 ROM over and i figured it would get rid of the issue. That didn't help it either. So i moved to a more well known ROM thinking maybe it will fix it so i flashed over skyraider 3.3 with sense and its still doing it. This happens like 3 times a day and sometimes it will get caught in a boot loop where it restarts before its even completely loaded. So i have to pull the battery for like 10 min. What else can i do? its soooo annoying

Is this just my device I am picking up a new one tomorrow for other reasons but I want to know if I will prob get the same experience.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an HTC One X and for the last day or so, it has begun to reboot itself randomly and quite often. There is no specific time of use before it reboots. It's completely random. It can just be sitting there idle, and just all of a sudden reboot itself.
The battery is not dead or dying.
The phone is not overheating.
I have no updates available and my last update was a few months ago and it was fine up until the last day or two.
The phone is not rooted.
1) Recently i have noticed that the optical track pad is not working although i can press it.
2) It has also decided that it wants to turn itself off at random times possibly twice a day.
Anyone have any ideas on how to fix these??
My screen will randomly start to dim as I'm using it to say scroll through contacts or texting and the screen will go to like 50% brightness. Is this a bug because why would it be dimming if I am using the phone?
View 16 Replies View RelatedFrom time to time, I'm getting a random volume down stuck. What this means is that my phone lowers the volume by itself, not by me accidentally pressing the volume down key. The problem is solved by pressing the volume up key, and only then, trying to swipe the volume does no good because the phone still continues to lower the volume. After that, you can't use the power button nor the volume down button, it's like they're disabled, you press them and nothing happens. You wait some time, and then you can use them again.
It seems to happen the most when phone is charging and when the battery goes low, but, to be honest, I just couldn't figure out the main cause for this type of behavior. Today I was taking some pictures and suddenly the volume slider came up, showing the volume lowering down rapidly. I've had this problem ever since I first rooted my phone, but it's time to try and figure out the underlying problem.
Phone's hardware checks out, it's perfect (I've had had my doubts in the past, but wherever the phone had been taken, it checked out fine) everywhere I take it it's said that that's a software issue.
So its been about a month and a half that I've had my captivate. I've had a few problems with the phone and have searched them, I have found most have the same problems but no one gives any answers to what you can do to fix it.
Problems:
.phone restarts at random times until the battery is taken out and put back in
.text messages delete at random times
.phone does not sync with Facebook
.it does not retrieve e-mails
.gets a bit laggy at times for a 1gHz processor
.seems like the side buttons seems a smashed in and do not "click" properly
Does anyone have any answers to these problems?
Also I wanted to do a factory restore so how can I save my files/ contacts/ etc before I do this to see if it fixes any of the problems.

I have gallery which contains a listview.
when you scroll sometimes the views inside the listview doesnt appear. i can see a shadow which belongs to listview but nothing inside listview appears
i have tried using invalidateviews on listview whenever the view becomes selected.
I am not sure how to resolve this.
I've had my Incredible since 4/28, and everything has been working smoothly up until about last Thursday night when it just restarted out of the blue while I was listening to music. Then right after it booted up, it restarted again, then again about seven more times. I got fed up and took out the SD card and it seemed to stop after that, so I haven't put the SD card back in since then.
Just now, Wednesday, about a week later, I was browsing around on the internet and all of a sudden, it restarted, and then again, and again, and again. I've read that it is because of poor signal strength or something like that so I had just enough time to put it in airplane mode before it restarted again.
Side note, that theory about it being caused by poor signal seems to make sense because the first time it happened to me I was out of town in a city that gets very bad coverage with Verizon, and now today when it started happening again was at my house where for some reason I get very bad service with the incredible, my old phone worked perfectly fine in my house but the incredible gets terrible service, and so does my brother's Droid. In fact, about two weeks ago I got my first dropped call on Verizon in about three years, and it was in my house.
So anyways, I decided to put it in airplane mode, and just after I put it in airplane mode it restarted again. Then when it booted back up my Helix Launcher 2 home screen went back to the standard Helix Launcher 2 icons, I go into my messages and everything is gone, my contacts are all gone, everything is gone. I go to the app menu and all my apps are still there, but when I start up an app, all the custom settings are default now. I went into the settings and my accounts are all still there. I click on internet and I get a terms of service agreement, it's as if I am booting it up for the first time, but for some reason my apps and accounts are all still there.
I turn airplane mode off thinking it might have something to do with it not being connected to my google account, and I restart it again and everything is still gone. I don't know what to do, has this happened to anyone before? I feel like there should be a way for me to get this stuff back since my apps are still there and my accounts are still synced, but random things are missing like my contacts and messages etc. This is really starting to get annoying, I have insurance and everything, but I really don't want to exchange it for another one because I've read that other people who have had there phones replaced have still had the same rebooting problem, even after going through multiple replacements.
Really annoying that while on a speaker call the screens times out then I have to hit the bottom at the top of the phone to turn on and end call. Should I just increase time to timeout - but then I will be killing batter?
View 8 Replies View RelatedSo, when I go to my call logs, the times it shows for the calls is all wrong. As in, the last call showing in my call log shows Today at 8.52 pm. It is currently 12:15 PM.
I've got about 8 calls today, and they are all in the evening? The rest of the times on my phone are right, but the call log appears to be picking up some other time zone. Any thoughts?
For Android, I have a custom view which I fill up with primitive shapes in the onDraw() method. Coming from a Processing background, I expected the draw method to be called automatically 30 times per second, but its clear that that's not how android views work. So how should I go about calling this method 30 times per second?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have recently upgraded from an Samsung Instinct to an HTC Hero. I am currently on my second phone. The first one had a major OS glitch. As the service tech stated it was possessed. I am into my new replacement for about 2 weeks now. Currently, I am having horrible luck with the phone. The keyboard lags, the phone auto dials random numbers while scrolling the phone book and today while talking to my wife it made a conference call to my wife. Also the weather feature on the clock won't update the location unless I manually refresh it. These are just a few of the things I have noticed. I currently am running advanced app killer to save on battery life and the phone is up to date on the software. My brother has an HTC Touch through T-Mobile and it rocks and I have other friends with android phones and they don't experience the same issues.

Suspected bluetooth getting "pressed" when stuffed in my purse - bur can't replicate (make it happen on purpose.)

I'm trying to update the CalLog to change the name/cached name of an entry. I have successfully updated a row but once i go into the call log on my phone the displayed name is removed after a short moment. I figured this is because the number of the incoming called is not found in any of the contacts. But why would it then clear the cached name that is in the Log? If the number is not in contacts the call log should display the cached name without trying to refresh it? At least that's the behavior I expect.My question is: Is it possible to add a name to an incoming number to display in the call log without adding the number and name to the contact list? I've figured it should be possible to add the contact first, then mark it as removed and thus get it displayed in the call log but that seems like a stupid work-around.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI searched with no luck, but I know I saw another post on this yesterday.Received my DI yesterday (29th), while setting up Exchange the phone did a random reboot.Then later in the day I had 6 more and 2 more over night.This morning I had 7 in 10 minutes.Obviously this is a issue.Anyone else finding this problem? Any fixes?The DI is AWESOME! I have everything all set up on this one already and really don't want to have to exchange it, but most likely will if there is no fix.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI figure at this point everyone that hasn't got root yet need as many tips as possible and will try just about anything, so here is another tip. I've got into ADB 3 times (initial root, remove apps & install WirelessN), and each of them was on my first try after rebooting my computer. I'm using the pny sd card(for me it's the 4gb class 4 but 2gb works great as well), which seems to have been by far the most successful card, also I have SDK installed as my driver. The method I used was pretty standard, no clicking in & out the sd card, I just left it in the whole time, I didn't even use loop.bat. I know it's annoying to restart your computer after each attempt, but it worked for me.

About half way there (where there was hardly any coverage) my phone reboot. On the way back about 1 1/2 hours later (in the exact same spot) my phone rebooted again. Wonder if/when this issue will be fixed?

Received the Incredible today. When I was setting it up the phone it rebooted a couple of times that seemed random to me, but I thought maybe that was part of the setup process. After using for several hours the phone continues to reboot randomly. As an example: I was waiting on a video to load form youtube and the screen went blank and went into reboot. Once I pressed the power key to bring the phone back from sleep mode and it went to what looked like an OS screen with three or four choices to reboot or shutdown the phone. As a side note, the battery was fully charged before I went through setup. Not sure what's going on here.

View 1 Replies View RelatedFrom time to time my DINC would crash/reboot (I wouldn't think much about), but today it has happened about five times! I deleted a new file app (Astro) thinking that might be the issue. I couple days ago it crashed when I was using the NY Times news widget. Anyway I'm running 2.2 and I love my DINC.
Can apps make the phone crash or can it be from something else.
Anyone else getting horrible battery life and some insane charge times when using these froyo roms?
Is there a fix for this? Im not running anything new compared to when I was using 2.1 and it "SEEMS" like my battery is dying quicker. I say seems because I havent compared awake/uptimes between 2.1 and 2.2.
Battery life wouldnt be so much an issue if it didnt take FOREVER to actually charge the battery.
