HTC Droid Eris :: Browser Not Working After 2.1 Update
May 16, 2010Moments after opening the browser everytime, it now says "The application Internet (process com.android.browser) has stopped unecpectedly. Please try again" then I have to force close it.

Apr 30, 2010When I load gmail in the android browser, at the top it says "Faster Gmail available! Update now" I click on "Update now" and it goes through an install of something. Anyway, after the install the "Faster Gmail available! Update now" is still there. It will NOT go away!!!
A popup also says to change settings of the new stuff it installs go to settings->gears settings. When I click on "gears settings" in the settings menu, nothing happens I cant open the settings. I think my gears install is f-ed up and unfortunately I dont think I can uninstall and reinstall the stock browser and Id rather not do a factory reset.
HTC Droid Eris :: Most Youtube Videos Not Working After Update
Dec 13, 2009Ever since my update I get a message that I the phone cannot play the video. Some play in low quality but when you try high quality it says it can't play it. I just go to the music category and most of the top videos I no longer can view. Did they change something with the update to prevent youtube videos from playing. A very low percentage play.
I'm using the youtube app on the menu.

May 30, 2010I just updated my wife's phone to 2.1. Yahoo Mail however doesn't seem to be working. It logs into the account ok, but it shows "no mail" when I go into the mailbox. On my phone, however, it shows all of my mail, whether it is new or old.

Jul 23, 2010Since I updated my software the other day, when I type a text message in the native program I cannot use the Shift (up arrow key) when the phone is vertical. When I flip it horizontal the shift key works, but then the ABC to # key no longer works. Does anyone else have this problem? Verizon's only advice was to pull the battery out...of course did nothing.

Jan 4, 2010I manually updated the phone with the file that was posted here as the leaked update. The process was easy and pretty much headache free. I used the trial version of MyBackup app and it did what its supposed to do. However I am facing some problems and have some questions also.
1. It seems that my display is not working correctly now. Maybe it is just me, but i can tell that that the backlight is not as responsive as it should be. It doesnt go to the set brightness level as fast and smooth as it was.
2. I let MyBackup restore the apps also and it was a mistake in my opinion. It erased the apps in "My downloads". Now not only can't I find a certain app (USA Today seems to disappear...and no, not the USA Today widget one. that one sucks. Anyone knows what happened to it?) I also dont know how to uninstall an app if it is not in my downloads. I suppose in manage applications? Correct me if I am wrong.
3. For me YouTube app started working better, but still says it cant play video in High Quality mode.
4. Anyone using something different from the People app?
5. Could not find a post about how to erase the vocabulary you added. I spelled something wrong and need to get rid of it.
6. The email is set to update once i day..still i get the notification as soon as I receive one. Help?
Overall, there is a little speed improvement. I didnt notice any drastic improvement, but its just quicker a bit. However, Id rather have my display back to working the way its supposed to be. I can wait until the OTA officially comes out.

Apr 1, 2010I was reading about Verizon's rolling out of the 2.1 Update for the Moto Droids, but one thing that seemed to stand out was that the Moto update was signed by HTC. Dont Wait For Verizon To Update Your Droid To 2.1 Do It Yourself And Do It Now | Android News, Reviews, Applications, Games, Phones, Devices, Tips, Hacks, Videos, Podcasts - Android Police, The Download for the Moto Droid update is available for download on Google. We all are running the same operating system so maybe the update would work on the Eris' also. Some people Mentioned when using the leaked versions of 2.1 on their Eris' that some apps recognized them as using the SDK (who's 2.1 update is available as a download for on the official Android website) Which leads me to the theory that people have been loading the SDK update on their Eris'once again this is all theory and just a quick thought.

Feb 17, 2010So my Eris no matter what player I use will eventually start skipping. It'll also start playing a song skip to another , then another then back to the original and then call my voicemail. Other times when I dont even have a music app open and try to send a text it'll start playing a song. Anyone have any clue what is going on?

Jan 15, 2010My Eris has some apps that have stopped working. Google Maps & Latitude, Youtube, the Market will not load properly and will either give error messages or won't load at all. Gmail, Voice, Gtalk and the web still work. I have did a couple reboots, pulled the battery, cleared the cache and nothing has helped. Any suggestions short of a factory restore or the Verizon store?

Sep 22, 2010Currently have a droid X with stock 2.1 When I try to manually update I get the msg "Check for update was not available at this time. Try Again later" Have been trying all day This is different from the normal, "you phone is up to date..." Called tech support and they said I need to wait for the update to be pushed to my device, but I know this isnt the case.

Jun 27, 2010I can not auto update my apps. It tells me is "started downloading" and that is it. It will not actually download the update and just stays like that forever and inturn will suck the battery. If i stop the update and just manually update the app it will download and install just fine. It is kinda weird that it will not download automatically. It even tells me it found updates. I have bb froyo.

Jul 21, 2010Got the Droid X on 7/15, everything was great, got the system update, now the camera won't work. Black screen only, even though both the Camera and Camcorder apps behave like they're working (with a black screen). Cannot take pictures at all, can take video, although no image is shown and playback of videos is a completely black screen.
I look in the camera and it looks like the shutter is open, although I'm not 100% certain what a closed shutter would look like. I think I can see the lens.
I did a full System Restore, the problem did not go away.
I've tried the camera app from the marketplace, facebook, etc., all treat the camera in the same way: just a black screen.
Trying to take a picture, the focus noise doesn't even sound.
This was working prior to the update, albeit in a leggy manner. Should I return my Droid X, or is there some other software / use fix I have not tried?

HTC Droid :: Microsoft Tag Not Working On Eris
Mar 4, 2010It seems Microsoft has come out with a scanner for android for free that they've previously made available on the iphone. Called Tag.
Microsoft Gives Android the Free Barcode-Reading Tag App - Microsoft tag android - Gizmodo. I found it in the marketplace but it doesn't work on my Eris. I downloaded it and opened it but couldn't get it to scan any of the barcodes or QR codes I tried whereas my Barcode Scanner app picked them up easily. The is started freezing, doing nothing. I uninstalled and then reinstalled and all I got was force closes after that. Maybe it is not compatible with 1.5 although it was in the marketplace. Has anyone else tried it successfully? I guess I will stick with Barcode Scanner, not sure if Tag does anything different or better than that anyway although the article said it has an advanced way of reading.
Android :: ADB Working With HTC Droid Eris?
Nov 8, 2009I'm trying to debug apps with the new HTC Droid Eris and ADB doesn't seem to recognize the device. I have the latest SDK installed with "Usb Driver Package, Revsion 2" downloaded through the Android SDK and AVD Manager. When the device is connected, it recognizes new hardware and I point it to the USB_driver folder to install the drivers. Windows accepts and installs the drivers. However, "adb devices" from a command prompt never lists the phone. I've tried this on two different Windows XP systems. I have "Unknown Sources" and "USB Debugging" checked under Application Settings, Development.

Mar 21, 2010All of a sudden, Ringdroid isn't working any more.Whenever I try and cut out part of a song, no matter where it is, the song keeps playing from the beginning.I saw this link (Ringdroid help), but that didn't work.I powered off the phone for a few minutes then back on, and I have the same problem.I have an Eris with the 1.5 OS on it.I thought it was working previously, but admittedly, I don't use it all that often.Any ideas?

Jan 31, 2010Well, this is day two of the new phone and for the most part it has been working well. However, I just realized that call history/caller ID doesn't really seem to be working. If I go to the call history page, everybody shows up as "unknown", even though they are all saved in my contacts (manually input). Also, it doesn't list the numbers - just "unknown" and the time the call was made/sent/etc. If I try to add the number to contacts from the call history page, it brings up a blank new contact sheet... the number isn't filled out in advance It also doesn't list numbers, names, etc if I am receiving a call... the phone just displays the (adorable) green guy - no name, no pic, even though these people are saved in my contacts. Does anybody else have this issue or know what might be causing it? I'm hopeful that I'm foolishly ignoring some setting..

Sep 7, 2010I keep getting errors on my pdanet it use to work fine..since upgrading it..i keep getting socket error and it disconnects and then have to reconnect..which is as often as every 2 minutes...then it gave me an htc sync error ...on the websites help it wants me to uninstall htc sync...uhh thats really the part of the phone..it is the phone..isnt it? and where the flip do i uninstall..and do i even want to uninstall that...i tried other programs..cannot get nothing to work..or they wanted me to transfer this program here...that doesnt work...or i dont know how..or where exactly...i really want to get rid of this stupid verizon wireless card..i pay far to much for limited usage and crappy service...but i cant do that until this tethering works..
