Why do I keep getting notified of an update for this? It's not from HTC right? I don't have anyonter apps from this guy on my phone just curious why I keep getting notified about this update.

I just got my Captivate from AT&T and it has Firmware 2.1 update 1. First question is, Will I be notified on the Phone when an update is available? Second, I have my phone Rooted do I need to un root when Firmware update comes out and I upgrade? Final question,though this not a Firmware question per say I can't get GPS to work at all is this issue be addressed?

View 8 Replies View RelatedJust wondering how often people choose to update their applications. I currently have about 13 updates available, but I hate that the updates ADD to the size of the app instead of replacing what you have. Eventually, after updating Google Maps a few more times, the thing is gonna be over 10MB... not that that is HUGE necessarily but a few apps like that, that keep adding on 1 or 2 MB per update will definitely add up. Sometimes I will uninstall and reinstall again, so as not to end up with a much bigger file size-- however, I'm not sure that always works as I think it should. Anyhoo, what is your application update process? Update all? None? Just ones you think are necessary? Also, sometimes updates are awful, so I try to read comments before updating, although there is usually someone who's not happy no matter what.

Notified me that there will be another Software update within the next 2 weeks that is supposed to fix ALL reported issues since the last update. I really hope it works.

Anyways the question is regarding the 2.1 update. I know many of you are like go search. But the thing is that this question has not been asked a lot from what I have seen on the forum. So considering that Verizon has the update, why are they toying with us and why don't they just release it all over the nation or on the Verizon site already?
View 30 Replies View RelatedI don't know if anyone else has had this problem, but since the last OTA update, my Eris was literally stuck in 1xRTT data mode for unknown reasons. I fiddled with all the mobile network settings I knew about to no avail.
On a lark, I dialed *611 to try to get tech support on the line. I figured that maybe the Seattle area was having some service issue or something. Instead, the tech suggested I try dialing *228 and hitting option 2 in the menu (essentially resetting the phone's roaming setup)
Boom goes the dynamite, as they say. After a reboot, my Eris is sailing on the winds of 3G awesomeness and it's all thanks to a Verizon tech giving the right answer. Never thought I'd actually utter those last six words.
Kinda wish I had just rooted my 1.5 and then gone 2.1 instead of the 2.1 v2 leak now... Is there any update on how to go back? Or is there any word on them rooting 2.1 v2?

View 19 Replies View RelatedI have had my HTC Droid Eris for 6 months now and am pretty pleased with it. I have an Apple computer and had downloaded an app to sync photos and music from my Eris to my Mac. It worked great! However. After I got the 2.1 update on my phone, my Mac and Eris cannot sync!!! I plug my Eris into my Mac, and it usually pops up on the phone with an option to Mount the SD card. However, now it merely shows the charging symbol over the battery icon and never gives me the option to mount! I can turn on debugging mode and when I plug in my phone to my Mac, it pops up with the debugging icon, so it recognizes it, but for some weird reason it won't mount!

I want to do the upgrade to her phone because it will fix some issues that she is having. I haven't gone to verizon yet but wanted to see if you guys know anything.
