does this put the phone in silent mode whatever you are doing or does it only silent an incoming call?For me its hit and miss.it will ring/vibrate upside down, so then i have to turn it the right way and then turn it back upside down for it to go silent.this would have been ideal for me when in meetings, but if it only works if you turn it upside down when you get a call its not as useful.

I found a few threads about this in the European HTC Hero section.I also saw someone posted the question in Sprint's thread, however I can't find it through the search function.Does anyone know of an app or any way to turn the screen off while making a call.I know it automatically times out and turns the screen off, but I have hit the end call button too many times now.Hopefully there is a fix out or in the works for this.
View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen I first plugged in my ear phones into my first Hero phone after a while (5 min) the songs shuttled and turned itself off. I tried to listen to some music again but the phone didn?t recognise that the ear phones were plugged in after that. I sent that phone back and got a new phone. I was going to wait until 2.1 OS came out but when I heard that it wasn?t coming out till March I thought I might try this new phone out been as though I have had it for a couple of months without listening to any music (expected the same though). And the same happen again. It sounds like its the 1.5 OS or the ROM not updated yet because I had already set up all the phone before I realised I had to do this. So thats why I decided to wait until 2.1 and get it all over with and hope it solves the problem.

The setting would let you hold the phone "upside down" while the keyboard is out(make the screen the screen show upside down as well of course). That way its the tradional.dpad on left and buttons on right. I sent this to the programmer.but no luck. I dont think it would be too hard to keep your hands away from the screen and still play comfortably.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to find a way to rotate a View, or (more conveniently) an entire layout, upside down and have it stay that way. I found the rotation and animation classes in the SDK, and these come close to what I want, but at the end of the animation I want my Layout to stay rotated; repeating the animation or just flipping back right- side-up doesn't help me with my app unfortunately.The only thing I can think of so far would be to find the source code for the rotate class, and override it such that the "...and then flip it back around to be right-side-up" code never happens. I'm not sure exactly where I'd find the original rotate code for reference if I were to do something that extensive however.I've found references online to the full android source - is that basically what I'd be looking at downloading to be able to attempt something like this? Am I missing a simple option on the rotation that would let it just stay put after I rotate it? Any help would be very much appreciated!

However, notice that it is difficult to interpret the numbers in the lower half of the clock (e.g. 6 or 9?) because of the angle in which they are drawn.When using drawText, is it possible to draw the text at 45/90/180 degrees so that all text appears upright when my onDraw method has finished?

I have a feeling it may be a matter of modifying systemui.apk but I'm not sure.

The issue is as I'm using an application other than google maps, the gps receiver continues to search and flash active after exiting the application. The only way that I can seem to get it do deactivate is go into the google maps app and then exit. This happens when I use ANY app that utilizes location aside from google maps.

Now... I use Locale for the following:
- Turning the ringer down when I get to work (obviouse one)
- Turning GPS/Bluetooth/wifi on when I plug it in the phone (think car dock)
- Turn on Wifi when I get near my known hot spots.
- Turn off GPS/Bluetooth/wifi off and turn down brightness when my battery is low.
And the last one is a good one for me...
- I have a GV number. When I call my phone from that number, it turns the ringer volume all the way up and it turns on wifi and GPS. This is my "lost phone aid". It turns on the locating features so I can see where the phone is using iGoogle and Latitude, and I can hear the phone if it is "in the cushions" on vibrate.
Anyone else get creative with Locale?
My main gripe, is that the display turns off during a call. My instinct has already been to push the On/Off button to turn the display back on, but this also hangs up the call.I also find it VERY cumbersome that by default the numeric keypad is not there, a ALOT of calls are "push 1.. push 2 " type automated calls.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAt first my Hero was lagging a bit on turning caps off when texting so my first two letters would always be caps. but now i have to manually turn it off every time or the whole message will be in caps. it NEVER turns off automatically.I'm using the phone keypad setting BTW. when i turn it sideways the keypad doesn't have capitalization problems but sometimes it doesn't show what I'm typing and i have to get outta the keyboard to see it. besides those two problems my phone is fine. i can accept the not being able to see the message as I'm typing as lagging but the auto-caps has to be a setting right?
