Why cant we put a picture as a background in the notification bar,when you pull it down, you can customize everything else about the phone,but not this, can rooted phones change this?

My wife and I both have HTC Hero's (Sprint) and recently have been having problems sending and receiving pictures in our text (from each other as well as other people) If I send a picture to her, her phone will vibrate and the notification light will blink, but nothing will show up.
Now if I send a second picture the first one will show up on her phone, and if I send a third, the second one shows up and on and on. It happens the same way if she tries to send me a picture. The phones worked fine when we bought them in December. This problem has just started in the last month.
How can I put any pic as my background with out it looking all huge.

I just wanted to post an issue I found. I downloaded ES File Explorer and was browsing a shared folder of pictures on a desktop. I selected a picture and, with the file explorer's picture viewer, browsed the next few pictures sequentially. I found one that I wanted to use as a background, so with a menu option, I chose set as background. The device froze, and started a never ending reboot cycle. I had to hard reset the device and wipe it with the POWER + X button option. I am not sure if this is an ES File Explorer problem or a problem with file transfers initiated some way other than copy and paste, or just simply trying to assign a remote path as a background image location, but I thought it necessary to post. I have sent this to the author of the file manager as well.
I'm using Hangouts for my SMS messages. Until recently when I received a message and swiped down on the notification bar I would see the contact's picture next to the text message. I have saved contact pictures for most of my gmail contacts (had to since google won't pull in Facebook picture but that's another gripe). Recently however, the contact picture does not display in the notification area when I get an SMS. It just show a grey/black/white image where the contact picture should be. The contact picture still appears in the actual text message and in my list of text messages but not in the notification area. I have a Nexus 5 which I believe is up to date on all updates.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI got an app with tabs and a notification bar entry, when I send it to background (click on home button) and try to re-open the application via click on the notification bar, the app restarts (last selected tab is lost).
When I hold the home button if the application is in the background and select it from there or click the app's icon on the homescreen, the previous state is restored per default (the correct tab is selected)
IMO the intent of the notification is wrong, but I'm not sure how to fix it.
In short: How to get a background application back to foreground when I click the notification entry?
I create an application which displays the notification when the service starts. If an user navigates to HOME screen (without exiting the application), the user could still go back to the previous application by pressing on the notification icon. This is very similar case as the track recording service in Google application "My Track".
I want the existing activity as Single Top activity since it has associated service running. However when my application tries to bring the existing activity to front via notification, the existing activity's onDestroy has been called which causes problem. How can I skip this onDestroy method? Here is my current codes:

View 3 Replies View Relatedmy Droid RAZR MAXX (4.1.2, not rooted) .So basically, whenever I have a notification in the notification bar (be it from the SMS app, WhatsApp, etc.) and I go to slide it down, the bar at the top disappears and then the background (the apps and widgets remain in place) goes to black for a few seconds then returns to the normal background repeatedly for several minutes. This keeps happening until finally the notification bar returns and the background returns to normal. While all of this happens, I cannot open any app. Upon selecting an app, it simply crashes right away. Doesn't matter which app it is. They all crash.
I should note that the exact same thing happens when I long-press the home button to bring up the running apps.
There have only been a few occasions where everything worked properly in the past few days. That is, I long-pressed the home button or dragged down the notification bar without any issues. I am not eligibile for a new phone upgrade until March 2014 so I am kind of stuck with this phone for now.
I am using galaxy s4 zoom 4.2.2, and i want to change the background of the notification dropdown.
I searched in SystemUI.apk and Framework-res.apk with no luck. Where is the image can be find?

I can't seem to send picture messages on my UK Three Hero.It looks like the message has gone and it shows the time send but the other person just doesn't receive it.If I go into my conversation there does appear to be a speech box with a timer at the side of it. What on earth does that mean?

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy Hero has the latest ROM and is running on O2. when i get an MMS, the picture quality is terrible. i have been sent MMSs from different phones (inc. iphone) and different networks. The pictures look great on the phones on which they were taken, but appear low resolution when received on my hero. I can't find any setting to increase the quality. I do notice that when I open the received photo in albums, it is super tiny. So it looks like the Hero (or Android) is shrinking them. Are there some settings I can change? I can't find anything that appears relevant. Or else an app that will help?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've had my Hero for about a month now, and ever since, I've had to reset it twice; once because I couldn't receive a call, and the second time because it was stuck on a notification sound and wouldn't change, no matter what.
The problem now is that I cannot send a picture message. I constantly get an error message saying that the 'message format is corrupted'. I've tried to take this issue to my carrier's tech support team only to discover I'm having yet another issue: a few of my contacts get deleted if I try to use HTC Sync to back my contacts list up so that I can preform a master reset.
I'm not sure what I did but when I go to take a picture now, the only thing I see is a pink screen when I activate the camera applications.
