I just DITCHED my iphone 4 (at&t service sucks where I live!) and bought a htc hero.I want to assign CUSTOM notification tones of different programs I use with push notifications, however many programs will not let you assign CUSTOM tones and force me to use use the system assigned tone for notification (a single custom one)Is there a workaround for this?

Just got my Hero and wondering are there any apps to allow you to specify different sms tones for individual contacts? Would be nice if I could switch off alerts from certain contacts, and give custom tones to individual contacts?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to set some mp3s as a 1)Ringtone and 2)Notification. Here's how far I've gotten:
1. I mounted my Hero to my computer.
2. I have the media folder with the files of RINGTONES, NOTIFICATIONS.
3. I have the mp3s that I want, in EACH folder.
4. Unmounted the Hero.
Now I'm lost, because I went to my settings to set a default ringtone for my phone calls, and they are not showing up. The only ones showing up are the ones that came with the phone. The same thing is happening for my notifications.I'm pretty illiterate when it comes to this kind of stuff, so if there is anyone out there with the patience to help me out step-by-step,
I just rooted my phone and I know you can download icon packs and use better cut to specify what icon you want for a specific application, I was just wondering if there is an easier way to just load the icon pack and it will somehow replace the current default icons?
I also was wondering if there is any way to "theme" the notification bar. I would really like to make it transparent, but I don't want to use open home or ahome. I am sure there is an image sitting somewhere that I can change? I just rooted my phone a few hours ago.
I originally had an incredible but my fiance like it so much I swapped with her for the original moto droid. Well before that I had no problem putting custom alerts for email and text messages. Well now I have my own Incredible and I can't for the life of me figure out how to do it again. Was something changed when the update to froyo went through or something? Someone help me out...I can't stand the preinstalled sounds.

View 2 Replies View RelatedUsed to use Rings Extended and Ringdroid, but uninstalled when I could no longer get SMS or any notification tones to ring. Alarms etc still work. When I go to Settings->Sounds & Display->Notification Ringtone and select from either Android System or any other ringtone program I try, any tone plays when I select it. But no tone for sms, email or notifications.

I had my wife call me and it rings with the default ring tone. I have tried everything and nothing seems to change. Thus far, I have had to Google how to's for everything I've wanted to customize: ie ringtones, changing default tones, even the colour of my sms window. I've been able to figure everything out, but am stuck on creating custom tones for emails from specific contacts. With my trusted berry, custom tones for email and sms were linked together for my contacts. So whether I received a txt, or an email from "John", I would hear the specific tone I'd set for him. With my Nexus, I've learned the same is not true. I can only customize contact sounds for sms (and of course, only with an App, I really like Ringo btw). Emails, not so much. They all come in under the one tone, regardless of who it was from.

They all have to be the same as well as when I plug the usb cord into and disconnect it from the phone. Any idea if 2.1 is going to allow people to customize the tones for the phone? I really depend on those. I use the sound to determine weather or not I need to get to the phone to check on it or if I can just ignore it. Also any idea on the voice command? The one that comes with it is worthless, I really liked the "live search" from the instict and you would think Samsung would be able to put in the moment since it was in the instinct.

However, fire department and my wife I would like to assign seperate notification tones. In addition I would like to download ringtones other than the standard ones on the phone. View 3 Replies View RelatedHave the phone. Went through all the fun of finding my own prefered ring tone - well I made it from a song, and another ring tone for other uses.
Set them up, set the "Message" tone, set the alarm tone and all was good.
It wasn't long after that I bought a SANDISC8 gig SD card.
Coppied ALL files over and swapped the cards.
I am not sure exactly WHEN the problem started, but it still exists.
Now and then the phone is in my pocket and it starts making a sound. It isn't one I selected, so ignore it until it becomes obvious it is mine as no-one else is talking on their phone.
I look and it is a message/phone call/alarm.
They are NOT the ones I set. So I go through the process of seting them back to what I like.
Someone says it could be a dicky SD card. I shall test that soon by putting back the original one and seeing what happens. The only problem with that is that it is SO INTERMITANT that it is hard to know if it is or not really the problem.
In the root of your SD card create the following folders
Notifications
Ringtones
Alarms
In these folders put your favourite MP3 files. You can now use these MP3 files as per the topic.
Notifications - Message tones and Notification tones
Ringtones - Your phone ringtones
Alarms - Your alarm mp3s
Using these folders there is no need to play the MP3 files first in Music Player.
