Jun 2, 2010I am creating a program which requires me to change a setting in the program when the video reaches specific points (at 1/3 of the video's completion, 2/3's and on completion). Android has a built in callback method for completion so performing an action at that point in time is not difficult. However, I don't know how to go about checking when the video has reached 1/3 and 2/3's of completion.

Oct 31, 2010I thought that Action was preeminent during intent resolution and if the intent had the same action as the intent filter, it would be considered a match regardless of data, if the filter did not specify anything. So I was very surprised to find that supplying action+data where filter had only action, causes it to fail. In the code below, if you comment out line 47 so that data is *not* sent, only then it resolves correctly. To get it to work with the data (an id that is simply a String), what mime type should I specify in the intent filter?

Oct 11, 2009In my HTC Favorite Contacts widget, I can't change the default action (like: SMS, Email, or Call). I only have the option to call.
I'm know that the Euro version had the option to change your default contact method for each favorite contact...Did sprint Disable this option on their hero? Anyone else having this problem? Lemme know if you find a way around it!
HTC Hero : Preventing Default Call Action Being Redial Last
Feb 10, 2010I've had my Hero about a week now and one thing that I've found annoying is that when you go into the phone application the default action for the call button is to redail the last number. I have inadvertantly made several (very short) calls by accidentally brushing the call button (or double click the physical on) before I have made any selection in the list.
Is there a way to disable this feature. E.g I wish to physically select or enter a number before the "call" button will place a call.
I did find a reference on this forum to "Not Call Log" which switched away from the screen after a call. I just want something that prevents me miss dialling in the first place.
Sprint HTC Hero :: Flashing Action Aborted - Screen On Bootup?
Nov 22, 2010I was running a CsRoM root, and then tried flashing the Virtuous rom and it kept saying "action aborted" every time i tried flashing virtuous, so i rebooted my phone and now it just stays at "HTC" screen on boot up, I have tried taking out the sd card but that didn't work, is there any fix or a way to manually reset my phone to get it working again?

May 6, 2010In my Hero phone when I open a browser and search in the google local I get an option to show map. When I click on show map it should open "Complete Action Using" to ask if I want to open the map in the browser OR Google map. But now I don't get that option and it opens the map in browser by default. To solve it I already tried:
1. Reset "Launch by default" option in Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage applications.
2. Also tried Reset Phone factory Settings.Can you please help me in enabling the setting to get "Complete Action Using" window before it opens the map?

May 18, 2010I'm a long term Nokia user and have recently joined android and gotta say I love it so far just got a question about the video capture, I remember seeing reviews where it was mentioned that an update was likely that would enable hd video capture is there any truth in this or is it purely an educated guess due to the snapdragon processor supporting hd? Also could anyone help me get the best from the settings we currently have I recently made a video in a nightclub and it almost looks as if it's in slow motion! Jun 29, 2010Anyone else having a problem getting video chat to work from Fring/Skype? I applied this OTA update this afternoon, and now all i can get in Fring is audio. My FF cam shows myself, and Skype on the PC shows it's own webcam, but neither me nor the receiving PC can see each other's cams. I've done a reboot on both PC and EVO and still no video-to-video. I'm not saying it is the OTA that caused this, just wondering if someone else can test their Fring/Skype after the OTA has been installed to verify?

Mar 31, 2010I'm a pretty new T-mobile G2 Touch (HTC Hero) user. I got it 2 weeks ago. So today I shoot my first video with it. I used the default settings. Such as: Encoding type: MPEG4, and I shoot it with the sound on. When I finished I could reviewed the video on the Hero, along with the sound. But the problem showed up when I transfered the video on my PC. Firstly the file showed up like 3gp file, not like MPEG4, and when I tried to play it with VLC it showed me some problem and play back without sound. And the video quality was 3gp quality, although it was set to high resolution and MPEG4 format.

Oct 22, 2009Today at Sprint store I played the same YouTube video on the Hero and the Pre side by side. The Pre looked great, the Hero had a very low frame rate and poor resolution. I hope someone can tell me something was wrong with the Hero and it is not always like this.I am seriously considering buying a Hero and have been spending a lot of time at my local Sprint story getting to know it. Today I was trying out flash video on many sites and they all looked bad like I described above. I just assumed the videos had a poor source until I tried a YouTube video on the Pre. It is hard to believe all the reviews I have been seeing of the Hero wouldn't have hammered it for this if it were a common problem.

Dec 2, 2009I went through all the troubleshooting steps in the "Update Available From Sprint" thread, making sure I was on v1.29.651.1, yada yada. Worked on this for a week and a half. Spoke with Sprint, spoke with HTC, no luck. Going to firmware update always reported NO UPDATE AVAILABLE.
Took the phone back to Best Buy and demanded an exchange. After receiving the new phone, went to try to firmware update, it showed that one was available. I asked for my old battery back since it was charged fully so that I could do the update. Put my old battery back in, went to update, NO UPDATE AVAILABLE!
Turns out it was my battery? Put the new one back in and the update was successful. I had scoured the net before but did not notice anyone with this particular issue. I

Jun 11, 2010I remarked to my wife that the video shot with my new EVO looked like home movies from when we were kids. I then saw that the EVO shoots at 24 fps which explains the home movie video look. Will/can the Froyo update improve the video and or camera quality? It's not a deal breaker but when you have kids it's nice to have a video camera with you at all times. I've got 3 more weeks left on my 30 day trial period. I know the i Phone 4 will shoot at 30 fps and the test images I've seen are considerably better than my EVO.

I slid out the panel on the screen and chose video, it switches to video but then the camera app just quits and I can't use the video camera. May 14, 2010I downloaded the 2.1 update from sprint and I can longer watch AVI videos. Please tell me my phone is bugged! I've re-transferred videos I previously watched on CL14 but they all say "sorry this video can't be played."
I've tried several different media players. I really hope this is just a random bug on my specifiv phone because I watch a lot of tv on it and I really don't have extra time to convert file types everyday.

Jun 4, 2010UPDATE- 6-4-10 12:15PM Central. The dev just released another update, a fix for the DI. This removes the thumbnails and solves the problem. It now works as it did before. I applaud the dev's quick turnaround. He got out an update within about 3 hours after my initial email.
Just a heads up, if you have the Act1 Video Player, DO NOT UPDATE. (UPDATE 6-4-10)
It adds thumbnails to the videos which destroys the app.
Here's the summary I sent to the developer:The app opens as fast as it always has.
I have 3 folders with videos on them, 1 internal, 2 SD. They have 3-4 videos each. Pressing anyone, there is a 3-10 second lag until the files and thumbnails show up, longer if one folder is already expanded. The thumbnails are incorrect for some files, correct for others. With folders expanded, the app becomes unresponsive after a while. Opening a file takes about 10-15 seconds, if even successful. Playback seems fine, although scrubbing takes a little while to get going at first.

Aug 31, 2010When trying to do 720p recording the camera freezes, turns black and requires a battery removal. I got about 3 seconds of 720p recording but even when I go in to view the video it freezes or lags severely to the point I need to remove the battery.
