When trying to do 720p recording the camera freezes, turns black and requires a battery removal. I got about 3 seconds of 720p recording but even when I go in to view the video it freezes or lags severely to the point I need to remove the battery.

I remarked to my wife that the video shot with my new EVO looked like home movies from when we were kids. I then saw that the EVO shoots at 24 fps which explains the home movie video look. Will/can the Froyo update improve the video and or camera quality? It's not a deal breaker but when you have kids it's nice to have a video camera with you at all times. I've got 3 more weeks left on my 30 day trial period. I know the i Phone 4 will shoot at 30 fps and the test images I've seen are considerably better than my EVO.

There is a CELB 1.9 rom (aka erislightning bolt froyo) that has WORKING cam...the gallery still goes funky when you try to view sideways but the cam DOES indeed have a working preview!

When I click on the camera or video Icon. It goes to load it to where you see the black screen with the white camera and then quickly goes back to the home screen.

View 5 Replies View Relatedafter updating (the official update) my HTC Desire to Froyo 2.2 I cannot capture any Video (any resolution). It happens that I press the trackball and the timer (on the upper-right corner) disappears and nothing works anymore (menu, etc...), only the Home button allow me to go back to the home panel. After doing that, the battery die in a few minutes and the phone is very slow: i.e. some video camera service is still up and running and consuming battery.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI updated to 2.2 OTA a few days ago and since then my camera doesn't work. When launched all I get is a black screen that sits there indefinitely. If I kill all running processes and try again the screen goes black and immediately returns to the home screen. I did notice that a few days ago it suddenly started working again out of nowhere, but the following morning it was dead again. I've tried a full factory reset but no joy.

I slid out the panel on the screen and chose video, it switches to video but then the camera app just quits and I can't use the video camera. This happens every time I switch to video and I've tried turning my phone off and on again many times and it hasn't fixed the issue. I've searched on line and no one seems to be having this issue. Any ideas?

also, sometimes the camera button does nothing when trying to use it to bring up camera , i have to manually go to drop down list of apps to get to it. not a HUGE problem, but still a problem when it doesn't do what its made to do.
i am using xperia s .recently when i connect it with pc companion it prompts me for jelly bean update and i updated it sucessfully but only 1 thing is wrong that now camera doesnt work it says error camera not available.i switched back to ics and its working again then i again updated it but again it says error camera not available
Updated my Wife's Droid-x last night to Froyo. The camera app took a while to work again but eventually stopped crashing. But we cant get NO LOCK to work again. It works on my Droid-x however I uninstalled it and reinstalled but no dice.

However, I have been having problems like system hangs and video playback not smooth like before. I wanted to get back to my original 2.1 firmware and wait for the OTA update instead. View 12 Replies View RelatedAfter upgrading to Froyo 2.2, Swype started to behave strangely. I noticed that with Froyo 2.2, Swype also got a newer version. However, the performance is much worst when compared to the previous version. Here is the summary of the issues which i noticed:
1. Incorrect word recognition. 30%-40% increase in incorrect recognition
2. Much higher CPU usage (hence battery drain)
3. Very bad performance in portrait mode as compared to landscape mode

Got the Droid X on 7/15, everything was great, got the system update, now the camera won't work. Black screen only, even though both the Camera and Camcorder apps behave like they're working (with a black screen). Cannot take pictures at all, can take video, although no image is shown and playback of videos is a completely black screen.
I look in the camera and it looks like the shutter is open, although I'm not 100% certain what a closed shutter would look like. I think I can see the lens.
I did a full System Restore, the problem did not go away.
I've tried the camera app from the marketplace, facebook, etc., all treat the camera in the same way: just a black screen.
Trying to take a picture, the focus noise doesn't even sound.
This was working prior to the update, albeit in a leggy manner. Should I return my Droid X, or is there some other software / use fix I have not tried?
I updated using the update zip and it worked I have froyo but instead of flash I see boxes with little green arrows pointing down.

Since i got froyo, when i plug it in, the red/orange light just blinks on and off and my screen turns on and off. Not sure if anyone else is having this problem but i have to be able to charge!

I followed the instructions here and on the Internets and was successfully able to update my phone in the following order: Now I am unable to *228 and program with either a 1 or a 2. The message "programming in progress" does come up but after about 10 seconds, the voice tells me that I cannot update at this time and I should call customer service. Does anyone have any thoughts on how to troubleshoot. I assume its due to the upgrade and not a coincidence.
