I was running a CsRoM root, and then tried flashing the Virtuous rom and it kept saying "action aborted" every time i tried flashing virtuous, so i rebooted my phone and now it just stays at "HTC" screen on boot up, I have tried taking out the sd card but that didn't work, is there any fix or a way to manually reset my phone to get it working again?

I rooted my phone (HTC Hero 200 running 2.1) a few days ago, went with Fresh 2.1, but after having some trouble with WiFi Tethering I opted for Damage Control. I did a lot of searching online and found Damage Control 0.999999% and installed it on my phone. It is working okay for the most part, but I found out that there are a number of 2.0 versions out there so I decided I wanted to update to a new version.
1) Version 2.09.1 would not load (and I read that it was unstable so I removed it and rolled back.
2) I went with version 2.08.1 and when I rebooted the phone it would get stuck on the boot-up screen and would not go any further (I went in, wiped the phone, went back to the initial Kernel I installed (2.6.29-8f4e5478 htc-kernel@and18-2 #1), but it still wouldn't work.
3) I research other Damage Control ROMS and went with 2.06.1 Lite to download the DCUpdater, thinking that if I went with this edition I would use it to get to 2.08.1, but same result as before.
Do I need to download a new Kernel? Do I need to start from scratch and root my phone all over again?
Last night I exchanged my Fascinate for the Incredible due to some really poor call quality issues. Well, I am not a huge fan of Sense - mainly due to the swipe down action of answering calls and unlocking the phone but I digress. So I decided to root. I've rooted several phones before (Eris, Ally, Fascinate). I flashed the DInc last night using the unrevoked one touch method. Then I installed ROM Manager - paid version. ROM manager thought I still had the Ally so I went ahead and flashed the CWM recovery image included with ROM Manager and I think that caused a problem. Things just weren't working right so I searched the forum and found an image that I had to rename, put on the root of the SD card and then flash.
After doing that I was then able to flash the Skyraider ROM that I downloaded in ROM Manager. What I'm really looking for is a ROM with a Vanilla dialer so I tried flashing Cyanogen's 6.0.2 from ROM Manager. It downloaded but hangs at the HTC Incredible screen on bootup. Thought there may be an issue with the flash so I downloaded and installed it manually and it still hung at the boot up screen. I thought it was a problem with the cyanogen ROM so I gave up but I just tried another and am having the same problem. I flashed the MIUI ROM manually and it booted up the same screen and hung there as well. What am I doing wrong?

I have a problem in that every time I flash a ROM, it gets as far as flashing boot and I get the following error:

I get this error every time. The weird thing is, despite getting the error, it still works with the defrost roms and has done with every release since 2.0a up until 2.0f. Any other ROM, MCRs, djdroid etc just result in a boot loop as far as the white HTC screen. I've wiped the dalvik cache and data but it makes no difference.
In my HTC Favorite Contacts widget, I can't change the default action (like: SMS, Email, or Call). I only have the option to call.
I'm know that the Euro version had the option to change your default contact method for each favorite contact...Did sprint Disable this option on their hero? Anyone else having this problem? Lemme know if you find a way around it!
Zen keeps doing weird things on me like not dialing properly and dropping calls where it's just completely dead air on my end. I want to flash a new rom but when I hold the home button it's different. How can I flash a new rom after Zen? It's a stupid noob question, but need help.

Whenever i get a notification my track ball flashes, and wont stop flashing after i check the notification, until i put the phone to sleep. View 8 Replies View RelatedBeen running Fresh 2.1.1 for about a week now and it seems pretty good. But with 2.1.2 just out I'm planning on flashing that as soon as possible. I've been running the stock radio and RA and wanted to get some feedback on weather it would be beneficial to update both the radio and RA to the newest versions available before I flash to 2.1.2. My awake time is at about 10% and cell standby is using 48% of my battery while phone idle is using 44%. Does this sound normal? If not would flashing a new radio and RA help resolve these issues?

View 3 Replies View RelatedAbout two days ago the DamageControl2.0r ROM started giving me the WiFi issues, and where I am with no EVDO or even E network. I rely on the WiFi at work and home, and wherever else I may need it. So I attempted to flash back to Fresh2.0c using the wipe/reboot and all the normal steps. Well it kept booting back to the Damage Control ROM. Someone suggested I use Nanroid backup then tried reflashing the rom. Which ended up working. Well I then decided I wanted to try the New Kitchen, because I love tinkering with this stuff, and it wouldn't flash again. I had to use Nandroid backup to go back to Fresh2.0c and have it working properly. Is there something I could be missing completely?

Are certain radios only compatible with certain ROMs? If so, what do you do if you want to flash a new ROM afterwards? In the event a radio flash fails, can you attempt to flash a different one or is your phone pretty much bricked at that point?
I'll probably have more questions later, as the thought of bricking my new Hero is well, I'd really rather not have to go back to my old BlackBerry.
I have already rooted my hero but I did not flash a recovery image or perform a nandroid back up mostly because I could not find clear instructions on how to do so, which caused me to have to completely wipe my phone and start over after I deleted some programs that caused my loop over and over. I know the commands I need to run in adb to flash the recovery image but I do not know where to download the recovery image or where I need to store it I also can't find anything on nandroid back could somone please explain these in detail with the steps I need to take so I don't need to start from square one again.

Downloaded the latest Fresh Kitchen
Downloaded the lastest Sprint RUU
Downloaded the latest Fresh 2.0 ROM
Installed the Sprint RUU as per instructions
My problem is now that when I try to root again so I can install Fresh2.0, the Kitchen, (and the pre-Kitchen), will not recognize the sdcard.
I bought a Hero (CDMA) from a friend. Wasn't sure if I was going to keep it (bought it dirt cheap so was maybe going to resell it) but after playing around with it I decided to keep it. Rooted it, flashed in custom cyanogen ROM...set it up just the way I wanted it, all before activating the phone. LOL
So as I'm sure many of you know, you can't activate with a custom ROM. From what I've read in other forums, rooting doesn't matter when activating, it's all about the ROM. So I'll have to flash back to stock 2.1 to activate this thing. I called Sprint and played dumb but there was no way they could activate it apparently. Well, technically the phone is "activated" but can not be "programmed" for use with a custom ROM.
So will the flashback to stock 2.1 de-root? Or can I just back up my current ROM, flash to stock 2.1, activate and then simply reload my custom ROM?
Can i upgrade fimeware to 2.1 after rooting and flashing to fresh 1.1
View 7 Replies View RelatedI installed ROM Mananger to make Nandroid Backups. Attempted the first step "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery" and keep getting "An Error occurred while flashing your Recovery".
I then installed Titanium Backup and updated to the latest BusyBox, the tried again. error.
Tried to reboot and uninstall ROM Manager and reboot again... still error.
Tried to flash older versions of ClockworkMod. error.
My hero bricked on me - when i hold down power & back keys i get in to a screen with the 3 androids on skateboards, can I flash a fresh rom from this screen? and if so - How?

View 3 Replies View Related1st time poster long time lurker. I have done a search on Google trying to find a solution or at least a reason as to why my phone is behaving this way. Search produces nothing. This week my phone started behaving strange. I will get a call, but the caller ID no longer displays. Suddenly the screen starts to flash and I have to unlock the screen in order to see who is calling. By the time the screen is unlocked the person has already hung up. I have not done anything (add new programs) in the last 2 weeks and I am not sure why this is happening.
