View 2 RepliesIs there any support for avi and other media formats except mp4 and 3gpp? If there is no support may I develop a support through correct the program? Will that be too difficult ?I don't know where to put my hands into first, should I correct programs in opencore first or should I just correct programs in directory frameworks/base/include/ media . I want to have a clear mind how I can achieve my goal, I need a roadmap to guide me how to do it.
I am trying to get familiar with the SDK 1.0 now. another question, my chip is from freescale and it supports hardware codecs of mpeg4, h.263 and h.264, I don't know whether I can change the program or the architecture of mediaplayer to utilize my hardware codecs instead of software codecs provided by android opencore. I once implement an mplayer to my platform, there is problems about sync of audio and video due to the quality of my chips(CPU can support software codecs but is not fast enough to make sure sync of audio and video), So I am worried about when the android is implemented, there would also be the same problem, and for this reason, I am thinking whether I can utilize my hardware codecs for mediaplayer.
I looked into this forum and in Google but with no success so far. Yesterday I bought HTC Desire and can not understand how to play the supported video formats- mp4, wmv and 3gp on the device. I am not trying to stream these files from Internet- I have them already downloaded on my PC. I want to copy them onto my Desire and somehow play them. I have several questions: 1. Do I need to re size the video files- do they require specific resolution in order to be played? 2. Do I need to copy these videos to a specific folder on the device? Or I can just create new folder through my PC and dump them there. 3. How the hell can I actually play the movies once they get onto the device? I can not see an application which launches movies. There is a music player but not a movie player. Do I need to download a widget or an application which runs movies? If yes- please recommend a good one.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI love my Eris BUT it is inferior in one critical area (too me) - I like to use my player t"watch" VIDEO podcasts or tivo'd news shows. Much of the time, I do not need to actually see the video (just want to hear it). So is their a video app that will let me play the video and turn the screen off and/or play video while I use the device to do other tasks. Seems like a simple feature but I cant find it anywhere for the Android.

View 2 Replies View RelatedAt first, I believe there was a question that would pop up asking me whether I wanted to use youtube or not, but I must have said don't ask anymore, because I don't get that now (is there a way to get that question back?). Now when I click on a flash file, I get a choice to download or play. I click play, and the screen goes black. There is some sort of spinning 'loading' graphic, then I get a popup that says "Cannot play video Unable to connect to server". This happens on any of the major video sites.
View 29 Replies View RelatedI have downloaded and tried lots of video players from the Android Market, namely Vplayer, mVideoPlayer, Rockplayer Lite, RealPlayer, Meridian and MX Video Player. They are all similar and lack one function which I have to have, and that is being able to play at a higher speed, around 1.3x to 1.7x like desktop VLC player.
Do you you know any video player currently on Android that has this function? I can not stand movies at normal pace because I find them too slow for my taste.
I thought the Moment's video player could play MPEG-4(mp4) videos, but when I browse to a website that has an mpeg-4 video, I get the error message saying the video is not supported. Here's a link to a video that doesn't play on my Moment, but will play inside Quicktime on my PC. Is there a VLC like player for android to play mp4, wmp and other assorted video files?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI downloaded a few episodes of my favorite series (futurama whoop whoop whoop) off of Megaupload.com to watch on the go. Now, the native player won't play .avi files, which is an annoying inconvenience for such an advanced device, but easily averted with a trip to the market. I personally use rockplayer to play these.
But now in an effort to get what little use the hdmi out offers I want to get them to play on the native player to be able to project them on my television.
Is there a way to play .avi or other formats on the evos native player? or a way to convert them?
I can not play video off the web since last update. Help!?
View 2 Replies View RelatedUPDATE- 6-4-10 12:15PM Central. The dev just released another update, a fix for the DI. This removes the thumbnails and solves the problem. It now works as it did before. I applaud the dev's quick turnaround. He got out an update within about 3 hours after my initial email.
Just a heads up, if you have the Act1 Video Player, DO NOT UPDATE. (UPDATE 6-4-10)
It adds thumbnails to the videos which destroys the app.
Here's the summary I sent to the developer:The app opens as fast as it always has.
I have 3 folders with videos on them, 1 internal, 2 SD. They have 3-4 videos each. Pressing anyone, there is a 3-10 second lag until the files and thumbnails show up, longer if one folder is already expanded. The thumbnails are incorrect for some files, correct for others. With folders expanded, the app becomes unresponsive after a while. Opening a file takes about 10-15 seconds, if even successful. Playback seems fine, although scrubbing takes a little while to get going at first.
Why Update buffering is always 0% when mediaplayer play the rtsp? I try to play this both on the emulator and on the device. But eveytime it shows that the Update buffering is always 0%. Could anyone give me a reason?
At last it always shows the log
E/MediaPlayer( 1455): stop called in state 4
E/MediaPlayer( 1455): error (-38, 0)
E/PlayerDriver( 1088): Command (7) was canceled
Am i the only one not able to play movies through the stock player after the update?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am writing a music player for esoteric music formats, and have defined mime types for them in my Manifest.
However, the standard music player is always started even though it can't handle the format. Looking at logcat I see;
: D/MediaScannerService( 688): IMediaScannerService.scanFile: / sdcard/download/Cybernoid.sid mimeType: audio/prs.sid : I/ActivityManager( 578): Stopping service: com.android.providers.media/.MediaScannerService : I/ActivityManager( 578): Starting activity: Intent { action=android.intent.action.VIEW data=file:///sdcard/download/ Cybernoid.sid type=audio/prs.sid flags=0x4000000 comp={com.android.music/com.android.music.MediaPlaybackActivity} }
.. so it seems the component is explicitly set to the music player ? Is there any way around this ?
I upgraded my SE X8 from A 1.6 to 2.1 and now i cant play video files! when i had version 1.6 the video was awesome HD and stuff,but now i can see the icon ,name,time but when i click on the video file it says that it can't open it,even the 2 videos that were on the phone don't work any more it says the same thing as opening any other video file.I've tried reinstalling the 2.1,and even repairing it but that didn't solve the problem.

H.263 profile 0 @ 30 fps, WVGA (800x480), max 2 Mbps
MPEG-4 simple profile @ 30 fps, 720p (1280x720), max 6 Mbps
H.264 baseline profile @ 30 fps, 720p (1280x720), max 6 Mbps
On Windows Mobile I used TCPMP and it could play any format; FLV, MP4, AVI (Could play DivX in theory, but the phone lacked physical resources I guess). Is there a program for Android that let's me play most formats?
