Does anyone know of an alternative to Startup Auditor for us 'poor' people in a country that is not allowed to purchase apps through the market place? Or alternatively another way to purchase it?

My HTC hero says my SD card is damaged and that I should format it. If I lost the apps which I paid for will it mean that I'll have to buy them again? How can I get them back?My main concenr is co-pilot live because it cost quite a bit.

Until I activate the Advanced Task Killer and shut them all down, the thing runs like a hog. I have quite a few programs installed, but I dont use them all all of the time. Why do they all start up and is there any way beside the ATK to stop them? Is there any way to modify the startup files?

View 2 Replies View RelatedTheres a buzz going around at the moment in this forum whereby any faults in the phone may be caused by a task killer. I infact removed mine in order to do some experimenting with various faults that my phone had developed, but this obviously means that lots of stuff now runs in the background without me noticing it, a prime example being that my ringtone app turns on every time the phone rings. So - without the aid of a task killer or a safety net, how can you find out whats running on stealth and whats the best way to turn these off without going into file manager folders and hoping that the phone doesn't ring before you finished?

View 37 Replies View RelatedI updated to the Official Sprint 2.1 update when it became available and prior to that I was running the leaked RUU. No issues with either and a general improvement in Hero performance with both, except for one quirk occurring only with the Official ROM. About 33% of the time, when initially powering up the phone in the AM, I would not get an automatic web connection. The phone function would operate, I would get the signal strength bars and Ev symbol, but no web. When this happened, I would turn off the phone and then immediately turn it back on and it would always auto connect to the web the second time and everything would work fine.
One of these times I also removed the battery before I turned it back on, but the problem would still occur occasionally. I called Sprint Tech Support and asked about the issue. The Technician looked at my account and made an update to it on his end, then asked me to go into Settings/About Phone/System Updates and do an "Update Profile". He said it should alleviate the non-connection problem. So far the phone has worked perfectly after doing this.
Can anyone recommend an alternative to the stock dialer that isn't so leggy/buggy?

I recently tried flashing Demagless 2.0.8 and now my phone is stuck on the HTC Black logo screen while the phone is starting up I have done a clean wipe and reflashed demageless 2.0.7.2 and also fresh 2d but now I get the same problem previously I've had fresh 2d installed and worked perfectly fine. I can still access my root but no matter what rom I flash it won't start up.
View 5 Replies View Relatedive read several threads regarding people who purchase a "new" EVO only to find out it was "used" I notice they typically notice some minor defect on the device. They ask the rep who "promises" that its new. they then take the device home and find out several weeks into the 30 days that they were given a returned phone and sold it as new.
Why in god's name, with all the stories of this going on.. wouldnt you just turn on the EVO with said "defects" and look at the call count/timer and refurb status in the phone WHILE YOU'RE IN THE STORE! if its used, show the rep.. tell him you DONT want a USED phone, insist on a new one.. and dont buy if you dont like the used handset! And telling me you dont know how isnt an excuse. there are EVO user guides on sprint's website.. or just open the user guide that COMES with the phone. as the saying goes.. "let the buyer beware!" I have ZERO sympathy for people in these scenarios!
Is it possible to purchase the HTC EVO directly and outside of the contract? Right now I'm on Sprint's cheapest plan, and I don't want to upgrade to Sprint's data plan which would cost me $50 more per month. I know that a direct purchase would be more money, but assuming I have the phone for two years, it can't be $1,200 more ($50*24). I'm only going to use the web features at home or in the office, where I have WiFi anyway. If I REALLY need to use the data service here or there, it still won't cost me $50 more paying per KB. When at home or in the office, I could also use Google Voice to make all of my phone calls over WiFi if I go over my 300 minutes (which I won't). Will Sprint allow me to activate an unlocked phone on their network? Are there glaring gaps in this plan?
