View 3 RepliesMy dad is going overseas and has a BlackBerry Storm with Skype and I have a Droid with Skype. Can I call him overseas for free using skype? I know that if we both used our laptops to talk it would be free, so is there any difference in using skype mobile to skype mobile?
View 2 Replies View RelatedHow can I use Skype to make a mobile to mobile call and not use my verizon minutes. I have friends that are doing this with the Samsung Omnia II on verizon and everyone I know with an IPhone on att is able to do it. When I try to make a mobile to mobile call a box pops up and says have to use verizon minutes. I also paid for the mobilie to mobile plan on Skype
View 2 Replies View RelatedI finally found an EVO from an authorized Sprint Retailer store. They got 3 in that morning. I bought the last one at 2pm. Nevertheless, I am 100% happy and in love with this thing. Absolutely no complaints. I have a question though, I have a skype account and I "thought" I could use it on the EVO but when I go to Skype mobile, it says only Verizon customers can use it? Is that true? Can someone walk me through using skype on my EVO??
View 26 Replies View RelatedSo after installing the FRF57 build of Froyo, I searched the Market for Skype Mobile, however it was not there. I found an .apk of it (version 1.0.0.6), but it doesn't support calls over WiFi. Can anyone tell me how I can get Skype Mobile to show in the 2.2 Market, or at least direct to a more current .apk of it?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have a question, I've been adjusting my droid eris settings to save battery time. I installed the Handcent SMS to replace the SMS default application so that it does not stay on all time, but every time I check my phone with Advanced Task Manager Killer the Handcent SMS and Skype Mobile are ALWAYS ON. What can I do to turn them off permanently and thus save battery time?
View 2 Replies View RelatedDo we have this app? I kno the Droid has it but is there anyway we can get it for our beloved hero? the other apps supporting the skype chat kind of sux..
View 17 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to get the app onto a Behold 2 or any T-Mob phone for that matter. Kind of outrageous that Skype is only allowing Verizon phones to download.
View 1 Replies View RelatedCould this be because I'm rooted? it says my device isn't supported. but it clearly shows a picture of the droid.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSorry if this should be somewhere else, but I'm have an X with the leaked 2.2 on it. I've heard about the Skype Mobile update but it's not showing up in my downloads. Wasn't sure if it's a delay or an issue in the fact that I have the leaked 2.2 version on my phone. I can't find it in the Market and I can't find a barcode to compare it to either.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm a new comer on this forum. I got my Ally about a month ago. So far I like it overall, though it feels a little slow at times. I installed the update1 pushed out to me couple weeks ago from verizon. After that, the Skype mobile doesn't open with error message. I tried removing and reinstalling it, then it worked again. But it's screwed up again after rebooting the phone. I had to repeat this twice. Sorry if this was discussed before. But is there any solution to this problem?

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhenever I use Skype Mobile it seems to reset my Home button (as if I had gone to the application manager and reset to defaults) so I have to keep selecting Helix Launcher every single time after using Skype.
Obviously I check the "Use by default for this action" box each time.
Only Skype Mobile seems to do this. I have also tried powering off and back on.
I was trying to make my own VPN to bypass my mobile network's blockage on Skype. I'm trying to get my Galaxy S3 connect to my home's PC which is totally fine with Skype.I followed the steps here to setup a VPN on Windows 7. But when I tried to fill the VPN settings on my phone, it was unsuccessful.
EDIT:
Following are the steps for configuring Incoming VPN Connection in Windows 7
First go to Control Panel and open Network and Sharing Center.
Click on Change adapter settings.
Press Alt+F and select New Incoming connection
Put a check on who you'd like to give access to this computer or you can configure a new account by clicking on Add someone, after that click on Next.
Put a check mark on Through the Internet. Click on Next.
Select the protocols you want to enable for this connection. Click on Allow access.
Make a note of the Computer name as this will be used by the client to connect to this computer and after that Click on Close.
Both listed under applications->running services as always running. I don't need/use either so how do I get rid of them?
View 3 Replies View RelatedSeems like there are a lot of programs, when I look at my task killer that have started on their own for example
Footprints (what the heck is that anyway... wanted to uninstall but can't)
Skype Mobile
Google talk
City ID
Handcent SMS
Mixzing
Is there a "msconfig" of sorts where I can stop them from starting on their own or....?
Sprint Nextel Corporation - Investor Relations - RSS Content. Kudos to Sprint, this is coming just in time for the March Madness, which is great! I hope this has been tested for enough viewer capacity because it sure will be tested by every Sprint TV customer. I am watching Lafayette v. Lehigh game live. I can definitely wait for Sprint to prepare another app to replace NFL Mobile Live for before the Football games start. Hope this is the beginning for a long season of good news from Sprint, Android 2.1 should be around the corner.
View 14 Replies View RelatedAndroid Version: 2.2 T-Mobile branded
Network: Base - a brand of e-plus, Germany
Taskiller Used: None
Issue: Switch on tethering OR mobile hotspot ->mobile network dies
I've installed Froyo on a T-Mobile branded Desire. After the update, turning on USB tethering leads to immediate loss of mobile network - it just turns itself off. Same goes for the mobile Wifi hotspot: turn on -> for 2 seconds, it's working -> mobile network drops off. Moving into airplane mode and back brings back the network, but tethering is a goner. With 2.1, USB tethering had worked. I'm on Base, a brand of e-plus. I've talked to their customer services, they say Base absolutely supports tethering.
this android aplication get mobile number to get the device only
View 2 Replies View RelatedJust learning how to use Tasker. Searching the internet to get whatever help I can find. One thing I am not seeing that I really want to do is:When I open the browser (turn wifi on).(I know how to do this)If wifi is not available ask if I want to turn on mobile data (This is what I can't figure out)If anyone has some suggestions I would love to hear them. Or if someone knows whether or not this is even possible please let me know.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to use HttpPost to send data from an android device to a server. It works great with a Wifi connection, but I get the IOException "The target server failed to respond" with a Mobile connection (3G, Edge, etc.). It doesn't seem to be a timeout problem (I set it to 90s). The use of HttpGet works perfectly with both Wifi and Mobile connection... Any idea of where the problem could come from?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI run into rather strange problem. My phone, china Android 2.3.4, is working quite weel instead of this:
If I use WIFI, then turn it off and try to use mobile data connection, it is not possible.
Icon showing that mobile connection should be active is on, but no data comming through.
I tried switchiing to airplane mode, changing access point names and so on, but nothing worked. Only solution was to restart the phone, after that all works normally - until connecting to wifi.
After rooting my phone I tried to figure out more with Teminal emulator. It seems that after releasing wifi connection and turning interface down, mobile interface comes up with same IP as before - it should ask network for new one. But, more important, route table is empty (or containing one entery and no default gateway at all) I tried bringing mobile interface up and down several times, tried forcing it to use dhcp (timeout), without success.
Is there a way to "reset" whole networking system from shell? Something like partial restart, which would be probably quicker than full restart.
Earlier i used Apple Iphone 3Gs , but now shifted to HTC One S
Problem i am facing is , i can't connect wifi from laptop to HTC one S through connectify
Through connectify, wifi sharing is available for other laptops and iphone , but it is not working for HTC one S
As some one posted in other thread http:[url]...that we can see 3 options, but only 2 options are displaying in my connectify... i dont have wifi access point in the advance option...only ad hoc
I am working on Panasonic CF 29 laptop , Windows 7 Ultimate32 bit OS with Intel Pro/Wireless 220BG network Connection 9.1.1.15 version..
I tried Update Driver , it is saying as uptodate... but still the problem exists , i cant connect wifi and also Hosted Network is showing No (while i run a command in cmd prompt)
and one more thing while i used mhotspot also no use it is saying as the group or resource is not in the correct state to perform. enable wifi to my HTC one S android mobile also....
Are we able to establish both WiFi and 3G connections at the same time on Android 2.1? We are implementing a "make-before-break", so that WiFi can be switched to 3G before tearing the WiFi connection down. Please guide if you have come across this.
View 2 Replies View Relatedwhen both wifi and mobile data are available, android (from version 4 and onwards) is smart enough to always* use the wifi, right?
*: by always i mean with some exceptions like sending an mms.
Is there any way for an application to force a network request to go over the mobile network if it's available in preference to WiFi? I'm looking at ConnectivityManager#setNetworkPreference, but there's no documentation, and looking at the source seems to suggest it's setting a global preference somewhere which isn't what's required here - I just need to force certain requests that need to go over the mobile network to ignore WiFi.
View 3 Replies View RelatedDroid Incredible running 2.2 OTA. When watching live streaming content using NFL Mobile app over my wifi connection(which is Cox Cable), the feed loses its connection after exactly five minutes of streaming. At the five minute mark, the feed will freeze and the V-Cast loading icon will appear spinning, then an error message will appear saying that NFL Mobile could not establish a connection. Back out at any point during this and hit the button to play live content, live content will work again flawlessly for exactly five minutes. Then the feed will freeze, etc...There are no problems with live streaming content when I am using 3G. I have tried using several different routers at different settings and the problem occurs the same with all of them, and I have no problems with streaming content over wifi other than NFL Mobile. This problem also never occurred with the versions of NFL Mobile prior to the current 2.0 version. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? The app streams much better over wifi, but that's not worth having to restart it every five minutes. A big reason of mine for being with Verizon is the NFL Mobile app so if anyone knows anything please let me know.
View 4 Replies View RelatedFrom the last 2 weeks i have been facing a weird problem with my A57. When ever i am trying to select Wifi, my mobile switch offs. I have to remove the battery and reinsert the battery then again switch on the phone.
It is working fine with DATA Mode, but the only problem is with the Wifi. I have done factory reset but no use.
Recently I logged into GMail with my browser instead of the GMail app, and discovered what I've read before elsewhere... that the GMail mobile web page seems cooler and better, than the app.
So, I've been thinking... which is better? Is either better? Can they both be equally good?
Either way, it occurred to me, it's interesting that all the Android blogs fall all over themselves almost weekly to come out with various "Best X Android Apps" articles, but I don't think I've seen any articles about the best mobile web pages for Android (or any smart phone for that matter).
I understand the money is to be made in apps, and that not much can (yet) be done with the web that you can do with an app (until we have workable Flash?) but surely there must be some great mobile sites out there that are better than, or equal to, apps?
I'm appealing to all of you then to make your suggestions for Best or at least good mobile web pages to use on our Android phones. I'll be looking around myself, and will possibly turn the results into a blog post of my own.
Here are a couple of starters that seem to be better than the app versions:
- Gmail: nicer interface, quick access to GTalk and Buzz as well as Calender, etc.
- Evernote: www.evernote.com/m Evernote has a really good mobile web site in case you don't want to download the app.
How to view the list of network connection mobile APNs or WiFi configured on the emulator.
