HTC Hero :: Hepatic Feedback - Dialpad Vibrate When Touched Is Not Working?
Feb 19, 2010
When I'm generally sending an SMS or using the text pad, there is a hepatic response which is welcome in my opinion. However when dialing, I don't get any vibration feedback. I swear remembering this was so
My firmware is 1.5.Can anyone suggest as to how to turn it on? Vibration is enabed in Touch Input btw

My phone just does not vibrate anymore. I've checked all my settings and they all say that it's on vibrate, but when I get a notification or a call it doesn't do anything (except the sound).

Just wondering if anyone else has this with their phone: When I have haptic feedback activated and i am texting(not using swipe) with each vibration I can hear a very very feint tinny ring (This is the best way i can describe it) And the major emphasis being on FEINT. Ive never owned a samsung before and so im wondering if thats just something that comes along with the vibration.

As the title says really, I cannot get my Hero to vibrate when I get a text message. In Messages > Settings > Vibrate, the option is ticked but even if I untick / restart / retick it still doesn't work. I've also tried pressing the volume button down to vibrate mode and back again but that makes no difference.I've even tried working with Handcent and yet I still cannot get the vibrate working. Everything else works such as the status bar notification but that's it.The vibrate part is definitely working for phone calls and other apps so I don't think that it's a hardware problem. Any idea what could be causing it? I'm using the latest official UK Orange ROM.

This may be an Android 4.4 or Nexus 4 problem, but I suspect the former. I encrypted the device (using the in-built encryption stuff) and have found that now the touchscreen will only register if another part of it is touched. For example, when entering my PIN once I get into the OS itself, I have to hold down a finger somewhere else on the screen (usually having to move it between some of the later numbers).
When it comes to multi-touch features (zooming etc.), these work fine but still require another finger held down somewhere to work.
This is definitely a software problem as the touchscreen works fine when putting in the password to decrypt storage.
Is this supposed to happen - part of the encryption process - or is this a bug?

I have haptic feedback turned off, but the arrows you use to navigate the home screen still vibrate, as well as the luck buttons and widgets. Is this normal, or is this an issue? Also while in low light, or dark conditions, shouldn't the for hard keys light up?? Is this an issue if they don't, or just an affect of not having brightness set to auto?

Ever since I bought my hero in December, I have had this problem where if I'm in a game, and it requires the screen to be touched, the game stutters. This happened when I had the stock 1.5. I needed to trade my hero for another when a lot of dust showed up under the screen, so Sprint gave me another one, only this one worked perfectly. No stuttering at all. So I decide to root it, and now it's running Aloysius, and the stuttering is back. Does anyone know what could be causing this? It happens in both the official and unofficial firmware. I can't seem to find an answer anywhere. Games it does this in includes: Nesoid and snesoid, and Raging Thunder to name a few. These games worked perfectly to my shock when I got the new phone, as I originally thought it was just a hero problem. I even emailed the developer of Nesoid but he didn't know the cause. Any suggestions?

While my sister was using the "Stool Scanner" app, it froze "scanning" her finger. I was unable to exit or force close the app, so I hit the power button and turned off the phone.
When the phone powered back up, I noticed that haptic feedback (the vibration you get when you touch the screen) was no longer working. It was still checked in Settings, so I tried un-checking, exiting settings, and then re-checking it. I even tried removing the battery. As a last resort, I factory-reset the phone under privacy settings. Still no haptic feedback...
Oddly enough, the row of capacitive buttons beneath the screen still vibrate. Also, when typing, the virtual keyboard still vibrates. But nothing else will vibrate, including any part of the Home screen or within any other app (ie: clicking a link in the browser).

The HTC Hero is my first experience with a virtual keyboard. It takes some getting used to but I have adapted rather quickly - to the point that I actually like it better. The self-correcting feature is great. It catches nearly all my mistakes and fixes them on the fly.
However - I don't know if I've gotten better or my phone has gotten slower - but it seems to lag behind my typing now. I discovered that if I turn off the vibrate feedback feature that it speeds up considerably. I would think that anybody who gets really fast at typing on their Hero is eventually going to have to turn that off.

I'm not sure when this started happening or if it ever even worked, but my vibrate notifications do not work for text messages or email (i'm using K-9). I've gone through EVERY possible setting, in the messaging app, in K-9, and the standard phone settings, to ensure that Vibrate Notification is indeed on, and yet it does not work. It doesn't matter if my phone is on Vibrate Mode, Silent Mode, or Normal Mode, no vibration notifications.
I've tried restarting the phone, nothing works.
My Haptic Feedback works perfectly.

I was on 2.1 stock, did the leaked ota and then the 2.2 leak. Everything is working great but I've noticed vibrate is not working for notifications. It seems to work for hepatic feedback and on calls BUT apps like gmail/messages/chompsms/others don't vibrate at all even if it's enabled. What the hell do I do? Any ideas?

So with the new update (which is smooth as hell by the way), Heptic feedback won't turn off, even with it checked as "off". Anyone else experiencing this? I am not trying to complain, but I do believe this is an option that should have been tested, so this is the first glitch I have noticed so far. Other than that, its looking good. Anyone else?

Phone will not vibrate when I receive emails, SMS, or gTalk messages if I put it in Vibrate Only mode. Phone calls do vibrate. In settings for each of those apps, I have a check mark in the Vibrate box. My Vibrate mode *used* to work, but when I uninstalled Quick Profiles it seems to have killed vibrations for everything except phone calls.

How do I fix this? Anyone else have this issue since the rogers update. My gf is having the same problem with her X10.

OK, so I switched to droid from my windows mobile device and I quickly realized there is no option to silence your phone according events on the calendar. I had this on my windows mobile phone and I really miss it, so I found an app called Vibrate During Meetings (Vibrate During Meetings Widget (v. 1.0) applicaten en el Android Market - AndroidZoom.com) which supposedly works for the Droid according to the comments on the app in the market; however I bought this app and it installed, but the open button is blanked out so I can't open can't run it for some reason. I would really like to get this app to work, but I don't know why it won't open.
I Have tired uninstalling and reinstalling, turning the phone off and back on, but I still can't open it. Does anyone have any suggestions as to why I can't get this app to open. The developers website is terrible and doesn't even give any info on this app, so I emailed the developer and I'm waiting to hear back, but haven't heard back yet.

Don't know if it's just me, but I do not seem to be able to turn off the touch/haptic feedback for the keyboard since flashing this system. Using the old 'turn it off' option has no effect. Has anyone else had this happen? I was just thinking it might speed the keyboard up a little if I could turn it off (and may help save a tiny bit of battery too).

Does anyone know of a list of all the available Android *#*# keypad commands? e.g. *#*#4636#*#* opens up test mode. I tried a web search, and searching the forums, but searching for special characters like that, doesn't seem to work very well. Even tried escaping them with various combinations of quotes and backslashes, but no joy.

Any apps that make the dialpad show up during an active call? When I pull the phone away from my ear, I don't want to see who I'm talking to, I already know that. Not a real pressing need for me to look at the little green Android guy either.Instead, that action usually means I need to press a series of numbers for an automated call service. My dialer has a small button in the lower left corner that will bring up the dialpad but I would prefer it be up front and center by default. It's a small thing but if there's something out there to make it happen, I'd be interested.
