It was still working find few days back. Still get email notificantions every 15mins like how i set. But i just realized it dosent work anymore. Had to refresh it manually to get the new emails.

I'm having a problem with the clock/weather widget on my Hero. I have it set to Current City and I noticed the other day that the weather wasn't updating. ( I live in Long Beach, CA) It was stuck on one weather. I especially noticed when it still said partly sunny at 11pm. It doesn't work even if i try to manually update.
I thought it was just the current city function that was having trouble registering but when I go to other cities nearby it updates fine. And when I specifically set it to Long Beach, CA, it was still stuck and not updating.
Anyone else having this problem? Is there something wrong with the weather equipment in Long Beach?
Anyone notice that new emails take 2-3 minutes to show up? I thought it was supposed to be instant?Yahoo email doesn't update until you open the email app.

I use a hotmail account on my phone and I would like to know if the email can update itself, if I have to wait for 2.1 to have this problem resolved or if it's just something that I'm missing. And sometimes the phone will say "Does not connect" when I do try to update it but it hasn't done it in the last few hours. In addition, there isn't any change in my real email account. I could read an email on my phone and still half an hour later that very same email will be considered new and unread. Is there any way to solve these issues?

At the moment I am using the default htc email widget, however when ever I read an email from my gmail account it doesnt update the read status so it still shows as unread.
I would like one that would update the read status and possible the support for unified inbox so I can see new mail from hotmail account and gmail.

Ever since I purchased my hero, the stock mail wigdet has given me problems.
If I use the full screen widget on one of my screens, it will display message body for some emails, and not for others.
I have recently bought an HTC Hero and updated it with the new ROM. One of the reasons I bought it is to be able to get stock prices on the move. I do have the following problem. The stocks and weather widgets only update themselves using a WiFi connection and not my 2g/3g network. I don't think is a network problem or a GPRS settings problem as I am able to receive my emails and also connect to the internet using 2g/3g. There must be a problem with the widgets.

Then I moved to another town, and since few days the whether widget shows me city i bought the phone, and not the city I'm in. Today I noticed that I received notifications that I have apps with updates available. When I click on the notification it takes me to my downloads in the Marketplace, but it doesn't show me which app has an update. They all just say Installed.
Is there no way to tell what application needs updating?
I can create a static widget without thinking, I can even create a widget like the analogue clock widget that will update itself, however, I can not for the life of me figure out how to create a widget that reacts to when a user clicks on it. Here is the best code sample that the developer documentation gives to what a widget activity should contain (the only other hint being the API demos, which only creates a static widget):

I am currently using a x10i (x10?) on tmobile, i have the data plan ($10), and have my email connected via gmail. however, it seems like i have to do manual refresh in order to get email update. Is this normal or is there automatic feature that i must enable to have it alert me once an email is received?
Secondly, is it possible to set-up a third party email account, ex: Yahoo? I went through the notion of manually enter email account, but was unsucessful. It give me a msg that mailbox access is not supported for some tpes of yahoo mail accounts. Could this be an interference with gmail email, thus causing the problem? Even, using the manually setup option, it still fails to connect to my yahoo account.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to make (yet another) news widget. Initially I thought it was enough to: 1. Download all the news articles 2. Update the widget every 5 seconds to change the currently displayed article using Alarm Manager (Alarm Manager.RTC) 3. Update the widget every 30-60 minutes to get new articles. This worked great on the first try but battery was quickly drained. I checked the logs and it turned out that the widget did the 5 second updates even if the screen was off. This was a surprise to me since the docs states: "..set an alarm with an Intent that your AppWidgetProvider receives, using the Alarm Manager. Set the alarm type to either ELAPSED_REAL TIME or RTC, which will only deliver the alarm when the device is awake. " I guess the device is considered "awake" even if screen is off? I found the same issue here: http://groups.google.com/group/android-developers/browse_thread/threa. I then checked the standard news widget and the other news widgets most popular on the Android Market and I see that they have services running all the time. Maybe because they want to handle the broadcast event when the screen is turned off? So is this really the best solution to have a service running in the background? So if someone downloads 10 different news widgets from different companies they end up with a list of 10 services in the "Running services" list?

Every so often I will receive email on my Droid from a POP3 account where the subject line does not match the body of the e-mail. For example I will receive on my Droid an e-mail from Amazon confirming order shipment but the body of the e-mail will be an advertisement from Hertz, HP, etc. The Amazon e-mail body is not shown. If I look in Gmail online it is fine so this so this is only on the Droid.
