HTC Hero :: Clicking Noise From Camera When Focus Any Object
Nov 11, 2009
I am noticing a clicking noise whilst my camera is focusing on an object. It actually sounds like it's coming from the lens. It seems to have started since I did the software update but I did also drop the phone last night. The camera is working fine and I am not really that worried, I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if it was anything to start worrying about?

just wondering if this is normal or not, someone told me it is normal for the droid.for instance - when your on the home screen and you hold the camera button down, it'll make about 3-clicks when starting up. it also makes the clicking noise when it is focusing before taking the photo. the most noticable is when using an app like shopsavvy or barcode scanner are these apps supposed to be focusing back and forth non stop? and if so, is it 'normal' for that clicking noise to go non-stop while it is focusing back and forth?

Has any body noticed that when you switch into or out of camera mode there is a little clicking noise (sounds almost like static electricity)?

I've started noticing a weird clicking noise after using the camera. After I take a picture and press the 'Home' button to exit the application, it makes the noise, which sounds like there's something loose or something. I'm just wondering if anyone's had this problem, and if it's actually anything to worry about. Also, the slider part of the phone is loose at the bottom, so when I push the buttons I'm actually pushing the screen down onto the keyboard, which is annoying. Is there any way to fix it? Also, I'm thinking that may be the reason for the clicking noise.

I am thinking about switching to the evo from my epic I really like the epic but not liking the slider and earpiece on it. My question is I really like the little click noise it makes when you clicking on things when typing and in the menu does the Evo have this feature and I know it doesn't have swype is there anything comparable for the Evo seeing it doesnt have it?

Anyone run into this problem? My wife's phone camera was fine until after the recent update. Now the image appears very yellow and it will not focus. I've tinkered with the settings to no avail. Currently I have it set to the default settings. Any advice?

I got my HTC Hero today on Orange. I previously had an iPhone 3G but I do prefer my Hero!
I have a question though. Is there an app or a way to make the camera focus for longer? Or perhaps when it has focused enough, take the picture without it messing up?
The camera is good for me, I'm just wondering if there's a way to put the focus to better use!

on my droid x whenever the phone vibrates either when im clicking something, getting a text or a incoming call. the phone makes a buzz noise. also i noticed the phone does not vibrate as heavy as it should and is not as noticable when its in your pocket with the sound off. i used a droid 1 and a droid incredible in the past and both of those the vibration was quieter. so im wondering are everyones droid x like this or does mine just have a defective vibration mechanism or something?

First I'd like to say I don't know how I ever typed without Swype. Whoever thought of it is pure genius so I love that. However can someone tell me how to turn off the clicking noise when I press a letter? I like the vibrate to let me know that I touched it but could do without the Storm-esque click. There was one more but I forgot it at the moment.

If you have your droid closed, and you press the down firmly where the search button is located does your droid make a clicking noise like its hitting the top of the keyboard? when i push the right side of the phone firmly it makes the noise and feels looser. is this because i took the plastic off the back of the keyboard?
if i want to exchange at best buy should i use their insurance? if i do exchange should i just tell them it reboots in case they dont want to replace because of this noise? Or is this noise/touching normal?

I have had my eris for a week now and noticed that it has developed a clicking noise on the right side of the battery cover. Whenever i hold it in a vertical position, you can here it click. You can actually see the batt cover move just a little bit. Is anyone else having this issue. I know that it is a small thing to complain abt, but that clicking is annoying.

I want to get the current focus view in my Service to check the view is a EditText and append some texts in it (for all EditTexts, not only in my application).
I found some methods to do this, like Activity.getCurrentFocus() and Windows.getCurrentFocus(). But these methods are used in a Activity.
How can I use these methods in a Service? Or is there another way to do?

I see similar threads says this is normal for the Moto Droid. Anyone have this with their Dinc? Is it okay? It never did that until I had to remove my cover a handful of times during one day. It does it when it first turns on, if I change between taking a photo and viewing photos, etc. I want to be sure I didn't break it or something.

Just want to make sure this is normal. Does anyone else's camera make tons of noise while constantly refocusing in barcode scanning apps? I can't remember where I read it but I know I read something about all the clicking noises being a bad sign.

Just wondering what everyone is using for camera settings. I'm getting great pictures outdoors but my pictures taken inside have a lot of noise (don't know if that's the term I want but they look fuzzy). I literally know nothing about cameras so I'm pretty hopeless figuring out this problem. And maybe some other camera noobs can get some good ideas from this thread too

I have just recently noticed than when I use my desire there is a click/tick from the camera lens area. It happens about 5 seconds after I turn the camera on and when I move the camera around the room.
Does anyone know what this could be.

So when i turn the camera on, on the Droid it makes this sort of loud noise coming right from the lens it seems to only make it when it has to focus or when it turns on or even when coming back from previewing a picture. Does any one else seem to have that problem?

So I'm taking pictures with the EVO to post here and while I'm holding the phone watching the autofocus do its thing, and when it finally takes the pic, its settles on a focus that is not as sharp as it could be. While it is focusing, there are moments when the autofocus will have focused perfectly but it keeps focusing past that point.. I looked through ALL the settings and couldn't figure it out... Is there a way to manually focus the camera other than physically moving the camera forward or backwards?

My app is struggling to take focused shots. Is there a built in facility that sets an auto-focus property on the camera, so it automatically takes clear and focused images. I've noticed that feature in numerous well-known apps such as ShopSavvy, CompareEverywhere, etc. Could you advise on how to achieve that?

Thinking of sending it back to Orange as an insurance job but before I go through the hassle I wondered if anyone had these symptoms and what they did to fix it. The camera doesn't seem to focus which results in blurry images all the time. I have removed the battery cover and cleaned the lens and the inside of the lens protector but it still doesn't work. I use my camera quite a bit so it has become a source of frustration. I am using the stock camera app and the fault has only developed over the past week.

I have yet to get a decent picture with the camera. My Blackberry Tour took great shots without any fuss. I tap to set the focus to specific points in the shot, but it never gets sharp. They always look grainy or soft. Anyone else having this issue or do you have hints?
