I have logged in at the Market with my gmail user account. However, i normally use google apps when emailing. Can I change the user in the gmail application in my Hero to the Google apps user?

All my google applications like Gmail, Maps, Play,Google Plus are working fine in WIFI.But when i try to refresh or update these application thro Airtel 3g,i am getting No Connection Error.
All my 3rd party apps like Facebook,Whatsapp are working fine in 3G.
This is driving me insane. When I setup my Hero I had to setup a gmail account, even though I have a Google Account. I setup a gmail account to get the phone setup. I now want to make my gmail account something that makes a little more sense to me. I am not using my gmail account but apparently it shows on Google Latitude to my friends, etc. My question is how does one unlink a gmail account and add a new one? When I go to my Google Accounts to delete gmail it says it will take about 2 days. I wait 2 days and nothing happens. If I attempt to add Gmail back to my Google Account is hows my old address and will not allow me to create a new one. Is it not possible to change the linked gmail address to your google account??

This setting is reset between sessions, I didn't use it frequently and eventually forgot how to go about making the change. Recently I had a need to access these hidden browser settings again and it took quite a long and frustrating search effort to finally locate this information which does not seem to be widely publicized. So, in an effort to save anyone else this trouble, I figured I would post the information on how to do this on a couple Android boards that I frequent and also include a few words that might be picked up as search terms for anyone else trying to find this info. The procedure is very simple. I currently have an HTC Sprint Hero running Android 1.5, so I'm not sure what other devices or builds this will work on..

Is anyone aware of a listing of apps that require Android 2.1 to run (e.g. apps like Google Goggles, etc.)? I've searched the threads here at Android Forums and elsewhere and haven't been able to find such a list or site.
Now that I upgraded to 2.1, I'd like to "see what I've been missing" and take advantage of the new OS.
I haven't been able to figure out how to change the google account I originally activated my hero with. The reason i want to change it is because my gmail app only opens email from that account, and I used a new gmail account to register my phone with that was specifically for my contacts, and now i cant check my other gmail accounts email. anyone know a good solution without having to format?

Firstly, why when I have set up my Gmail contacts on my computer into 8 groups do only 4 groups appear on my phone after synching? Secondly, is there anyway that the Google contacts can be rearranged so that the surname comes first - this can be done for phone contacts but does not appear possible for Google contacts?

I spent ages getting all my contact details - Google contacts was only email addresses, I also had SIM numbers, phone numbers and proper address book in Palm Desktop. I finally managed to get it all into Google contacts and even merge all the doubles (lots and lots). Only to find out that the Google contacts being synced was not the one for my main Google mail account (under Google apps).
1) what account is being synced?
2) is there any other way to restore my windows contacts/phone numbers (HTC sync won't work :-(
3) does anyone actually understand exactly what my Hero is doing with the various sources of contacts?
I had to change the password for my Gmail account. I can't seem to figure out how to change the password on the phone. The only option I see is to reset the phone. I can't delete and reinstall the gmail account because it is the default account for the phone. I really hope I don't have to reset this thing.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just created a gmail account/profile and i wanted to use this new account in my existing Samsung S4 which i have login with another gmail account.I manage to remove the old account ID and login with the new ID, all sync was done. BUT i found that some of my existing contact is without name but having the phone number and i am not sure if there is any missing contacts?
Then I retry to login with the old ID and the contacts details came back to normal with one or two without the names.
How do you change contacts from a "phone" contact to a "google" contact ?I know this must be easy to do, but even on editing the contact I cant find how to do it Also is there anyway to change your google account to another google account?? Can't find this either..
View 20 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to change this in the android SDK?It looks like some of the .bat files in the ools folder sets some environment variables but cant tell exactly what they are doing.I set my windows system profile settings in the registry to point to d:users and everything else is pointing there but the android sdk keeps wanting to put things in c:users.My reasoning for this is I have a much faster drive as my d drive(5 disk raid0) and my system drive is a 5400 spin ide drive.

View 15 Replies View RelatedI have my original gmail account "slaved" to my google apps account, so when I log in to user@gmail.com it displays my google apps user@domain.com as being logged in. For most things this is great, but now with the android phone there are some gotchya's First was the Market. I had to create yet another gmail account to buy anything off the market, because when I sign in to my 'gmail' account on my phone it signs me in as an apps user.
Second, is my google voice (attached to gmail) has its own set of contacts associated with my gmail account, and they are not synced with my google apps account. I was hoping the phone would sort of mesh them together, however I'm not seeing that. On my iPhone I was using soocial, however they recently stopped allowing unlimited contacts and their new free limit is below my number of contacts. Is there a way for the phone to keep these to contact lists "connected" and synced together?
I was looking for this info all over and still haven't found an answer. Is there a way to get the Google account or the Gmail address (no password) which have been signed to the device. the closest thing I saw is using AccountManager and Account but this is only for Android class 5 or higher and I'm developing for class 3. from my understanding this is for online services which I do not need - I'm only want the Gmail address.
