Still learning my Hero only had it a few days, it came with a 2gig SD card in it. When I hook the phone up via USB cable the SD card shows up in MY COMPUTER but I cannot open/browse it, I tried the card in my old Samsung E900 and its fine I added my music and other files that way.
I have HTC sync and added some apps I had on PC to the Hero withno problems at all but how to I add other files?

if i understand correctly the phone looks at the android-info.txt for version main and on that info it flashes the phone. Correct me if i'm wrong, now we can open those zip files but we can't add or change files in it. I know those files are signed. but there must be a way to mod those files and put them back on the phones. i tried a lot of zip,rar etc utils to modify but all say mode not implemented.
is there anyway to add a pic to a music file so that when it is played the pic appears next to the name of the song?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm used to using USB to transfer files from PC to phone so was a bit surprised when my Hero didn't come with one.
Obviously most things can be done wirelessly now, but I have lots of music files I want to transfer and my PC does not have bluetooth.
Am I missing a really obvious solution here? I use iTunes, so is there a way to just synch up the account with the Hero?
I followed all the instructions on the other really long thread. I am having one issue though. I installed SDK and the drivers, that all went perfect. The only issue I am having is with the actual bootanimation.zip. I am thoroughly stuck. After I download a bootanimation.zip it shows up in winrar with 4 files (loading, eye, android, and the desc.txt) I know it has to go in tools. I am just not sure how? Do I add each folder or is there a way to add them all? I also know the name has to be bootanimation.zip. I tried a few different ways and pushed it to my Inc. But I cant get it to boot with the animation.

Do I have to set up folders on the card such as Music, Photos, Videos etc., or do I just pile all my files on the card and the phone then sorts out what's what?

I am using Eclipse IDE for Java with Andrioid SDK 2.1 on Mac OS. Please help or please point me to someone who might know. View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got a little problem with my HTC Hero. I got it yesterday and plugged it in to PC at home and charging was fine. At work today when I took my phone out of a pocket I noticed that red light is flashing. I've connected it to my Mac at work and it doesn't seem to charge it what so ever. It has been connected to Mac's USB for about 30 minutes and red light is still flashing. Tried to turn it on but ON/OFF button doesn't work. How long it needs to be plugged in to start again? Is it a Mac issue?

I found a program that imports them to the phone, but it replaces everything and I didn't want all those bookmarks in my browser. I exported my Google bookmarks to a HTML file and stored it on my SD card in the download folder and named it bookmarks.htm. I then went into the Droid browser and typed the following URL: content://com.android.htmlfileprovider/sdcard/download/bookmarks.htm
I then created a bookmark of the link.
Now, I open my browser, click on the bookmark, and all my Google Bookmark sites are displayed as links in order listed under their categories.
I have a G2 touch UK and the USB cable that plugs into the phone end has not got a mini usb port but rather something shaped like it but not quite the same. Tried a usb to mini usb adapter on it and it wouldn't fit. What connection is it? It's not micro usb either.

In fact and I can't get to first base with it. The install fails on the laptop because I don't have usb 2.0 I'm guessing. Is there any other way to sync this with out a cable? This would be nice to get going as my HERO would be 100% then..

I recently lost the charger and cable that came with the phone, and bought another one, but the actual connector is slightly different. When I plug my phone into my computer, I don't get anything, either on the phone or on the computer, except that the phone does start charging. I get no "start USB service" or whatever option in the phone and the phone does not show up as a drive. Nothing, nada, zilch, zero. I'm guessing it's the cable, but I'd like to confirm before going out and buying another cable.

Is there anyway to directly push files from my OS file system to the storage system of android? Should use adb push.[update1]: I followed kgiannakakis's advice to create an sdcard for my avd. However, I got Permission denied error when I try to create new directory inside it.

I recently bought a hero and am disappointed that i can only add one custom group and am unable to delete or rename the ones that came with phone. Most group names that came with phone don't work for me. Anyone using an app to give more customization of groups and contacts that will sync up the same as stock app.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI want to add a contact just to my phone and not to my gmail account.Whenever I start to add a contact (phone, 208544.menu, +contact, create new contact,) the next thing it forces me to do is to choose an account to create the new contact under and it lists my 3 gmail accounts.I have no option to just put it on the phone.Any ideas here?We do the same thing on the Incredible but it gives us the gmail account and the phone to choose from but not on the Motorola.
