I am a little confused about this as Ive added everybody as phone contacts, only cause i wanted to add a pic with whoever i add. it does not work when adding a contact to sim.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to add a contact just to my phone and not to my gmail account.Whenever I start to add a contact (phone, 208544.menu, +contact, create new contact,) the next thing it forces me to do is to choose an account to create the new contact under and it lists my 3 gmail accounts.I have no option to just put it on the phone.Any ideas here?We do the same thing on the Incredible but it gives us the gmail account and the phone to choose from but not on the Motorola.

When I try and sync my contacts from my phone to google the phone Say's and always has done:

I'm on a stock OS with the latest updated ROM.
I update the firmware with the latest rooted one for t-mobile? What benefit does rooting give me?

I spent ages getting all my contact details - Google contacts was only email addresses, I also had SIM numbers, phone numbers and proper address book in Palm Desktop. I finally managed to get it all into Google contacts and even merge all the doubles (lots and lots). Only to find out that the Google contacts being synced was not the one for my main Google mail account (under Google apps).
1) what account is being synced?
2) is there any other way to restore my windows contacts/phone numbers (HTC sync won't work :-(
3) does anyone actually understand exactly what my Hero is doing with the various sources of contacts?
Can any one help with the following problem. I'd really appreciate it. This phone, as promising as it is, keeps giving me head-aches.On my HTC Hero all my contacts (they are all "Google" contacts) are duplicate. I deleted all contacts from GMail (they were NOT duplicate on GMail), have seen my HTC resyncing my contacts various times since (while in the Settings->Data Sync->Google Menu), but all 2000+ contacts remain in my phone.Obviously, I'm just trying to delete duplicates (why they suddenly appeared I do not know), but at the moment my phone seem not to sync at all.Can any one tell me how to delete ALL Contacts from my phone and then resync (after I reimport my GMail contacts)? Is there no other way to select each of my almost 3000 contacts manually to delete?

I've never been one to keep a very neat & tidy Google contact book (though, I guess it's about time to start), so I'm noticing that now that I've synced my phone with my Google account, I have TONS upon TONS of contacts -- many of which I don't even want in my phone. Obviously, the phone has added my G mail contacts. So now, as I'm adding everyone's phone numbers (something I never kept in G mail), I'm added it to their Google Contacts listing. Is that the best way to do it? I've read a few posts about the topic and I see a lot from people who are previous smart phone users, but what about us newbies? So my question: Is there a way to make it so Google syncs everything *but* my Google Address Book, allowing me to only have my phone's contact list? What about hiding some contacts? If not, what are your suggestions for managing your Google contacts.

I just got my Hero. I used HTC sync to sync my calendar/contacts with outlook. Outlook has previously been synced with Gmail. Now I have a ton of duplicate contacts. Obviously I shouldn't have synced contacts from Outlook and just let them sync from Google. Is there any easy way to fix this and get rid of all the Outlook contacts?

I have used HTC to transfer my Outlook contacts to the phone as a one-off but even though I have "Sync Contacts" enabled (Home->Settings->Data Sync->Google->Contacts) on the phone I don't see these contact details when I log into Gmail on my Win PC and click contacts? Incidentally my calendar syncs from Hero to Gmail/calendar perfectly.

Firstly, why when I have set up my Gmail contacts on my computer into 8 groups do only 4 groups appear on my phone after synching? Secondly, is there anyway that the Google contacts can be rearranged so that the surname comes first - this can be done for phone contacts but does not appear possible for Google contacts?

View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter I updated my Hero to Android 2.1 I only find my sim contacts in my adressbook. I still has my contacts on the Gmail, but it wont sync.
When I look in my Google sync options the updated date is 25/09/1980 20.46.
The sync icon (white with some round arrows) is showing, but it has frozen. I have tried re-checked the sync button and restarted the phone, but nothing happens..
There are alot of Threads/Post on Contacts Sync etc. I haven't found the answer though to my question, so here it goes.
Can i sync my Contacts to my PC and not use Google or the Exchange Sync? Just make a separate folder for them in the event of a phone crash etc. Maybe make a folder to put on my SD Card?

When I add a google contact through the phone, it does not updates my contacts with google. Exactly the opposite when I add a contact to google. Is this whats supposed to happen?
