It stopped working about two weeks ago. I've been using this ROM and JIT for several months. I can't connect to my or any other wireless network. It says "obtaining address" and never goes anywhere after there. setting a static IP would fix it, but I'd like to get to the root (pun) of the problem.

This is news to me and I figured i would share it with my fellow Droiders. I just switched from the Eris to the Moto Droid. I figured switching would render my Eris usless because when starting up the Moto Droid, I had to go through an update orientation and had to connect the phone to a number before getting a chance to view the hoem screen. However, my Eris still works. I can not make phone calls, but I can still use it with the Wifi in my house and can play the music that is stored on the memory card. It is like an Eris Touch. I can also still get apps from the Market and update existing apps.
View 29 Replies View RelatedMy Mobile Network isn't working. Period. No it's not location, I get 5 bars of 3g in my room all the time. I'm able to go on WiFi. My 3g just all of a sudden stopped connecting.It says: "Stand by for connecting to mobile network". Not to mention the incorrect grammar, but what the hell? This is the reason I bought a smart phone. It happened 10 hours after the update.In New York City, was working fine at work earlier. I can still get text's/calls.Anyone else have a similar problem?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy wi fi isn't working it has found our connection ever since I turned it on now it doesn't. I am sitting right next to the computer but it cannot find it. I uninstalled 360 camera because that is the last app I installed. It was working fine untill I did the update. Than it did a force close a couple of times. That was yesterday than when I turned my phone on this morning it can not find the connection and the letter icon that shows you have mail is not up in the left hand corner of the phone. I really don't want to do a factory reset if I can help it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI decided to try the WiFi hotspot available through 2.2. GREAT! Actually worked quite a bit better than I thought it would. Only trouble is, ... now I'm back at home, it fails to connect to the home network.
+ Restarting phone
+ Re-entering password
+ Forgetting network + refinding
WiFi sees the network, says "Connecting", comes up "Failed to connect", "Scanning" and loops on that sequence. I know the router's working because this laptop is using it right now
It's done this twice now (before and after factory reset). 2.1 OTA, not rooted.
Whenever I turn on the wifi, or I become in range of my WPA2 network, it doesn't always connect. I say "always" because it seems to be random. If I toggle wifi on or off, it doesn't always connect. Sometimes it connects after 30+ seconds. Every other device connects just fine.
The only sure way to get it to connect is to force it to rescan, usually by going to Settings and displaying all SSIDs in range. THEN it connects, always and immediately.
The even sillier thing is, it will alert me of open networks, but never connect to my own saved network.
I know there have been other threads about the Youtube app no longer working (majority of the time), but it looks like it hasn't been commented on in awhile.SO, I really want to get this phone but won't until I know the bug is fixed.Can you Eris users let me know if your Youtube app is working or not working? (basically by not working I mean, almost every video you try to open you get a message saying: "Sorry, this video cannot be played")Also, does anyone have any logical ideas as to why not EVERY Eris user is affected by this bug?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI got my HTC magic yesterday when i was away from home, I home earlier today and thought i would get the phone setup on my wireless, the phone detects every other network in my area except mine. I am currently writing this on my laptop via the wireless connection and it is detected by another pc wirelessly and my old N95 8Gb, its not out of signal as i have tried it almost sat on the router. I have checked through the routers setup and cannot see any settings that are wrong or would effect this.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI recently activated my old Blackberry Curve because of my frustration with certain features on my Eris. I thought that I would still be able to browse the Internet on my Eris using wifi only but it's not really working. The reason I say "not really" is because I can do a Google search and look at Google News, etc, but I can't really go anywhere else. If I click on a link, or select one of my bookmarks, it just sits there and eventually times out. Does anyone understand why this won't work? When my Eris was activated, I could use wifi in areas where I had no cell coverage. I may reactivate my Eris soon.... I do miss the fun of it. Also the call quality is somewhat better than my Curve - although the Curve gets better reception in marginal signal areas. Love my Curve for push email and the real keyboard. When it's time for an upgrade, I am going to have a hard time deciding whether to go with the latest Blackberry or Android phone. If they come out with a top of the line android phone with a good physical keyboard (not like the Droid's) I will be very tempted.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI searched but didn't find anything like this. Wifi on my Evo just doesn't work anymore. I've restarted, cycled all the radios (3G, 4G, BT, etc) on and off thinking something might be hung somewhere, but nothing seems to work. I told it to "forget" my router and then re-entered the password, but it still will not connect to my router either at work or at home. The service will start, but it will not connect to any networks. I'm sure it's some setting or perhaps some app I installed, but I figured while I dig deeper into the issue, it couldn't hurt to start a thread here and perhaps get some suggestions. this is nuts, but I hit the sunken "reset" button on the router and now everything works great again. I'm pleased to know there was nothing wrong with the phone, but perplexed about the router. I guess I'll have to dig into the router settings and see if I can figure out what went wrong.

When I re enable Wifi, it works for a bit and then does it again. I'm on a 24MB/s Internet connection, and everything else wireless in the home works fine(my iPhone 4 works flawlessly).

View 1 Replies View Relatedmy WiFi on my Evo has been acting up, so I went and restarted modem and router, turned off WiFi on Evo, battery pull Evo, then as a last resort, I updated my router's firmware (since its been over a year since update =/) so I figured maybe that would solve something. Nope, can't even update Twitter, Facebook, get on internet. I did update on 6/28 and everything went smooth and my WiFi was working then. I have done nothing since and then all of a sudden, last night and today WiFi wont work.
I guess to explain this better, I can connect to my router, Evo shows that I'm connected with Good/Excellent connection and 55 mbps, but its like no internet connectivity, Facebook, Twitter, Internet, nothing. Like I've said up until last night everything was working until now. Did the update on 6/28 just slowly kill my WiFi?
Does you Droid need to be connected to the VZW network?>

View 1 Replies View RelatedWoke up this morning and my wifi has stopped working, I'm on orange, was on 1.5 this morning, day before yesterday I tried getting the 2.1 update by debranding, installing generic 1.5 and getting the ota updates, got to 2.1 but then the phone decided not to let me use my orange sim card in it, sim network lock. Went back to orange 1.5. Wifi worked yesterday, then this morning stopped working. Also decided to root this evening now on villainrom 12.0.

When wifi is off, I press the toggle widget and the small bar goes up showing that wifi is connected. But at the top bar, it still says 3G and doesn't show the wifi bars symbol. Only when I go into the settings menu does it connect to wifi. Anyone else having this problem? And keep in mind, this is the wifi widget that is already on the phone, not from the marketplace.
