View 2 RepliesI recently rooted my phone and flashed the latest version of the Fresh ROM and my Wireless Tether app won't work. I did a search on here and on Google and didn't find anything that addressed the issue for the current version of the ROM. Is there a way to do it without having to install a kernel?

I had wireless tether working before going to 2.2. Now it appears to be working on the phone, but on the computer it shows "Local Only". I tried uninstalling, rebooting then reinstalling... no luck with that.
Also, I am part of the Swype Beta. I had Swype resend the email when I updated to 2.2 and reinstalled. It works until I reboot my phone, then it goes into "tap only" mode. Is anyone else experiencing this?
I am rooted but still running 2.1. I have been using Barnacle for my WiFi tethering, but lately it has just stopped working altogether. Is this problem happening for anyone else? Can you guys recommend to me a different app for free WiFi tethering?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Rezound and already tried asking there. I figure since it's Android OS related, i'll try here.
and again... " WIFI " tether, not USB tether.
I have droid on latest froyo and i can't get access control in the wifi tether for root users to work, at all. if i turn it on no matter whether my pc is checked or unchecked on the list i can connect but it says no internet access on my pc.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am having issues getting the 2 wifi tethering programs to work correctly. I just rooted for the firstt time today. Both programs start up correctly and allow me to enable to wifi tethering but I can't get any device to see the wifi connection they are creating. I have tried both scanning for the network and trying to manually connect to it by typing in the SSID but I can't get any device to see the network. I am using a Droid X with the official 2.2 update rooted.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI flashed to Fresh Toast 2.1 and have tried to run wireless tether. The wireless tether starts however when i stop the wireless tether, the phone freezes. I have to take the battery out to start the phone again. I did a reinstall on binaries and my wireless tether is version 1.6.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been reading myself in circles & am a bit confused on which way to go. I am enjoying the Evo but I would like the wireless tether. I guess there are other rooted things in the future I could install but the big draw for me is replacing my wmwifirouter on my WM device on my Evo.
I just don't know what the downsides are for one over other other. I think that Fresh has tethering already built in but I don't know if there are issues with the SD card or other items. Or should I just get the stock ROM that is rooted over at XDA?
When connecting my Evo to a computer, there is an "Internet Sharing" option. I am curious to know, does this cost extra monthly? I know the wifi tether is the extra $30 a month, but will this charge me the same?
I only have interest in rooting my phone if it's the only way to share internet with my Netbook. Wifi isn't all that important to me, and seeing as I've completely and utterly failed at doing the Unrevoked method for rooting... I'm hoping I won't actually have to root my phone after all.
Tried running wireless tether 1.6 that comes with Fresh 2.3.3. No luck.Uninstalled Wireless Tether and reinstalled it from the developer's site. My laptop connects to the phone's WiFi network, but cannot access the internet. I've tried turning the phone's mobile network off/on while tether was running and also prior to turning on tether.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI did the simple root while having sw version 1.32. Flashed over fresh 0.5.3. Everything works except receiving MMS. I can send them as much as I want, theres just an issue with sending. I get an error stating that the message failed to download. I am guessing I may need to reflash.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to use the wireless tether and it's not working at all.
I changed the ssid so that it's something that I can remember and be unique... I turn on wifi and mobile network... is that right?
Go back into the wireless tether program and push the tether button. It then takes me to the SU request screen and does nothing...
Normally when something needs root it pops up to allow access but it does nothing.. . Just wondering what am I doing wrong and why is this then turning off my wifi when I go back to check the widget it shows that the wifi is turned off?
I downloaded and flashed Fresh 2.0d last night, and all looks good until I try to use Google Voice. I get an error message of - We have a problem, Your phone number could not be verified.
I tried it several times and no go. I then downloaded and older version of Google Voice and got it to recognize my phone, but it won't take messages for missed calls. I called my number, let it go to voicemail, and just get dead air.
Also, received an email from this morning from the Android Team at Google welcoming me and my new Nexus One. I have a Sprint Hero. What's that all about?
I had A online radio working last week. I just tried it now and it doesn't stream anything. Anyone have problems with this or anything like that? I uninstalled and reinstalled the program and same affect, starts to buffer then just says "stopped". Pandora is working fine for me.
View 17 Replies View RelatedSo for some reason my phone has the audio problem from the early 2.1 roms with fresh 2.1.1, is anyone else experiencing this problem, and is their any fix yet?
View 13 Replies View RelatedI've noticed after I have rooted and installed the newest Fresh rom I have problems getting my alarm to shut off in the morning. It's not a huge problem, just an annoyance. I have not installed vanilla lock screen, I did search the forums which states if you use that you have to use vanilla clock. I literally have to shut off the alarm every morning by shutting down the phone. Sometimes I do get lucky and it shuts off (after about 1-2 minutes) and then I have to disable the alarm and re-enable it or it will snooze.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have Fresh 2.1.2 loaded on my Hero. When trying to launch MetaMorph it tells me to make sure i have enough space in /system. I have wiped and reinstalled the rom and have almost 90 mb free on the phone. I also can't get root explorer to work but am more interested in getting MetaMorph working. Does anyone else have this problem? Does anyone know of anyway to fix this?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI have an evo4g and rooted it. I run 2.2 and a month old version of fresh or so.Anyway, just got a usb dongle at newegg for $7. I plugged it in and it connected my phone flawlessly for audio. Basically for audio all I do is toggle bluetooth on on the phone, then.. hit play and music is coming thru my computer speakers. That said - I can't seem to connect for bluetooth wifi. Is there a different driver for the phone that I need to d/l somewhere? Going to the windows 7 (I run win 7 ultimate) it says about my phone under the services tab:
BRCM Advanced Audio
Handsfree Telephony Gateway
Object Push (Obex)
This leads me to believe I need a different driver perhaps? When I go to "Join a Personal Area Network" there are no devices listed. I try to add device but it doesn't find my phone.I know this is kinda complicated so if you dont understand my problem please ask for a clarification.
I'm switching from iPhone to the EVO. Someone mentioned that free tethering can be enabled after rooting.
View 49 Replies View RelatedI am using WiFi tether on my myTouch 3g. Randomly my computer will just disconnect from the WiFi even with 99% signal strength. It doesn't do this with any other WiFi connections just the one from my phone. About the phone, its the original myTouch 3g, running Cyanogen 5.0.7-DS-test5. I tried to do some searching online about this problem but couldn't find any thing for recent versions of WiFi Tether.
View 17 Replies View RelatedLooks like a very neat (and free!) app. Requires root access, but that's not a huge deal. Barnacle Wifi Tether - Easiest Tethering for Motorola Droid. Barnacle Wifi Tether - Android app on AppBrain. Might be a good thing to try out.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've read a lot of posts about getting WiFi tether for a rooted phone, BUT not many talk about the newest version of a rooted froyo 2.2. The android-wifi-tether site shows only a "wireless_tether_2_0_5-pre9.apk" for the HTC Evo 4G Android 2.1 (Eclair) version. Some posts say it works for 2.2, but it clearly says *** EXPERIMENTAL ***, and that is for 2.1. SO given that many of us will now have a rooted 2.2, who is using what to get WiFi tether on our rooted 2.2 EVO?
