HTC Eris :: Stock ROM - SetCPU And Tethering
Aug 11, 2010I'm looking for a "stock" rom with basically everything the same but I want setCPU and tethering with everything else functional. Any tips?

HTC Eris :: SetCPU At 768
Sep 7, 2010My phone is allowing me to run at 768mhz. If the phone is allowing this is it okay to run at this speed or should I scale it down to something lower? The phone has been stable and I've had no issues since doing it about a week or so ago.

Aug 30, 2010I'm rooted via the 'rooting for dummies' for two days now. I've had my eris since this spring and was happy until recently my OTA2.1 dialer lag was infuriating. Rooted, started with PlainJaneT2. SO MUCH BETTER! Now using latest xtrROM. EVEN BETTER (imo)! Tempted to try KaosFroyo but there's no browser flash yet? I'll play with xtrROM for awhile longer. do you use setcpu w/ xtrROM. I know it's OC'ed from the get-go (235-710 or something) but I heard 528-604 is the sweet spot for the eris.

Aug 26, 2010I know that kaos is OC'd to 710 by default, but has anyone tried setting their main SetCPU profile to a lower frequency? Tonight I lowered mine to 245/528 to see what it'd be like, and I honestly haven't noticed much of a difference. Maybe some of my LauncherPro animations aren't as smooth, but that might just be in my head.
Haven't tested this beyond a few hours or with heavy multitasking, but I think I might run with it for a while and see what happens.
UPDATE: Getting Linpack scores around 3.5, which isn't as high as the 4.5+ I was getting before, but is just as high as or higher than the scores I've gotten on most other ROMs (including xtr).

Also, any idea how to set a CA/user certificates in: Settings>Wireless & Networks>VPN Settings>Add VPN>Add OpenVPN VPN (when I select either of those, the only option I have is "Cancel")
HTC Eris : SetCPU Widget On My Homescreen?
Jul 22, 2010So I had the setCPU widget on my homescreen, and was noticing that when I wake my phone up, the screen comes on but it would take about 4 or 5 seconds for it to respond to any scrolling or touch input. At first I suspected it was my screen off profile being too low (480/245). But I then removed the widget and the problem seems to be solved for the most part. Can someone confirm that this is an issue or is it just a placebo? Oh, running PlainJaneT2 Stock 2.1 with OC and A2SD.

Jul 27, 2010Just rooted, was much easier than I thought. Having issues with SetCPU. I've paid and installed the app but it's read only. There's a button to run disable perflock, which was recommended for HTC users, though the things runsa dn comes back that I don't need to disable perflock.

Jun 24, 2010I just rooted my phone. First, what is the Unrevoked reflash for? I though it was a custom ROM, but it seems to be something to back up your phone?
Is the wifi-tethering that installed with the root free, or does it still add that extra $30/month Verizon has on their stock-tether?
Is it possible to underclock the Incredible? My phone never has speed problems, but the battery never lasts the day. It'd be nice to have some trade-off.
Lastly, how do I get a custom ROM onto my phone? Are there any stable ones available yet?

Aug 20, 2010I'm running a rooted Eris on nonsensikal 3.9. I just rooted last night and I'm very new to all this. When I first ran setcpu it gave me another root access error. So I went onto super controls and gave I access. Now whenever I run setcpu I'm. Able to move the slider only one time then it freezes everything so bad I have to pull battery.

Aug 16, 2010I have tried several different Froyo Roms over the past very weeks. I still can't get any good battery life out of them compaired to running EE3.0. Yet everyone tells me they get better battery life while running Froyo. My phone has currently been unplugged for 9hrs 13 mins. It has a total of 50 mins talk time and I have sent 30+ text messages. My battery level is @ %73 running EE3.0
I can't get a total of 11hrs out of my phone when running any of the Froyo Roms. Ive tried running several different settings on SetCPU but nothing noticable. Only thing I notice is that when running Froyo the largest use of my battery is my Display. Yet when running EE3.0 the largest use is Cell Standby and Display is the lowest. But I have tried turning the brightness almost all the way down on the Froyo ROM but it doesn't make any difference.

HTC Eris :: Rooting Eris For Wireless Tethering
Oct 14, 2010I tried wireless Tethering via Bluetooth with the PDANet App and it was an utter failure...i'd get a connection but it was up and down every 5-10 minutes...I can get a solid connection when tethering over USB with PDAnet...But that sucks as it only seems to work with the Charging cable that came with the Eris and not the HUNDREDS of other usb cables i have laying around....
So everyone said...'ROOT!' Its easy to wirelessly Tether when you 'Root!'
you can even use your phone as a hotspot...
So i thought 'Cool, i'd really like to be able to use it as a hotspot!'

Jul 28, 2010Before the update from 1.5, I had no issues tethering my MacBook through my Droid Eris with PDANet. The phone function of the handset was the only operation that would interrupt the signal.
Since the update, my Eris interrupts my internet frequently, without apparent reason. It begins the annoying cycle of kicking me off the web, alerting me that the phone was not ejected properly, mounting, launching iPhoto (which I cannot prevent from happening), and then I have to exit PDANet and relaunch so I can reconnect. It's a juggling act! Sometimes this cycle will repeat five or six times before the phone and computer settle down.
