HTC Eris :: Wireless Tethering
Sep 5, 2010I'm running kaosfroyo v32 and i'm trying to figure out how to do wireless tethering. I see an option built in for tethering via usb but how would I go about getting the wireless version?

Jul 25, 2010I just recently rooted my phone with the Plain jane rom and tried using the wifi tethering, but when i go on my ps3 or something to try and scan for a hotspot or SSID how come i can't find it?

Oct 14, 2010I tried wireless Tethering via Bluetooth with the PDANet App and it was an utter failure...i'd get a connection but it was up and down every 5-10 minutes...I can get a solid connection when tethering over USB with PDAnet...But that sucks as it only seems to work with the Charging cable that came with the Eris and not the HUNDREDS of other usb cables i have laying around....
So everyone said...'ROOT!' Its easy to wirelessly Tether when you 'Root!'
you can even use your phone as a hotspot...
So i thought 'Cool, i'd really like to be able to use it as a hotspot!'

Noted i now have a new app called 'SuperUser Permission'
Downloaded 'Wireless Tether' from the App store...Set all Permissions on the phone
my Netbook detects NOTHING!
WTF am i doing wrong? It still works under pdanet...ALL i care about is using my phone as a Wireless/wifi hotspot, thats it!
HTC Droid Eris :: Setting Up Desktop Computer For Wireless Tethering
Aug 23, 2010I know that this is sort of stupid thing not to know, but how do you actually set up the link between the Eris and the desktop when using Wireless Tether? I went through the Wireless network Setup and I even went through Network Setup Wizard and Network Connections and still haven't been able to figure out how to actually initiate wireless tetherthing through wi-fi. I'm sure that it's something bonehead that I haven't considered. The only time I've set up networks is with the help of ISP tech support or the ISP setup CD.

Nov 2, 2010my htc evo is rooted, i have titanium backup and you need root for that application to work so my phone is rooted. i downloaded the wireless tethering app. succesfully but when i turn on tethering it the down speed stays at 0.4kB, 0.0kbps and the up speed stays at 0.1kB, 0.0kbps. it also used to pop up as a wireless connection but it wouldnt connect. now i just re-downloaded the app and it does the same exact thing but the wireless network doesnt show up.

Nov 12, 2010Just rooted my Evo 2.2 with Unrevoked...installed Wireless Tether APK...when I click the app it comes up and I gave it superuser permissions...it will start tethering...when I try to connect to it with a laptop it can't identify network...and won't let me get on the internet...is there something or some settings I need to change on the evo the laptops can connect? I see AndroidTether but it just keeps spinning and won't connect...

Sep 2, 2010I just got my EVO and so far, I love it. I have a question about Tethering. It says that Sprint will charge $30/month for using this feature, yet I see it available in the system settings. HTC Incredible :: Wifi Hotspot Vs Wireless Tethering
Sep 19, 2010I recently rooted my Incredible and installed Cyanogen 6.00 RC3. I liked some things about it but missed some of the stock HTC widgets and apps. The Cyanogen rom had wifi hot spot, and it worked great. I could connect more than one computer to it, as it acted like a Hotspot.
Today i reflashed to Virtuous 2.7 Rom, which is alot like the stock 2.2. I got back the things I missed in Cyanogen but no wifi hotspot. Instead, there is "Wireless Tethering" which doesn't seem to work. The latest version is installed, version 2.0.5-pre9. Neither of my computers can "see" the connection.
Is there any way I can get the wifi hot spot app that was in Cyanogen and install it on my phone with the Virtuous 2.7 Rom? wireless tethering really doesn't do what I want it to.

I changed the ssid so that it's something that I can remember and be unique... I turn on wifi and mobile network... is that right?
Go back into the wireless tether program and push the tether button. It then takes me to the SU request screen and does nothing...
Normally when something needs root it pops up to allow access but it does nothing.. . Just wondering what am I doing wrong and why is this then turning off my wifi when I go back to check the widget it shows that the wifi is turned off?

HTC Eris :: Wireless Tether - Ad Hoc Connections For Wireless Mouse
May 27, 2010The main reason i wanted a rooted phone was so i could connect to my laptops ad hoc network and use a program for wireless keyboard and mouse. i cant really afford the real thing at the moment and with my laptop hooked up to my flat screen its kind of necessary to have..

I always run into the same problem though. wired or wireless, i cant get it to connect right. wired never works in any way but i dont really care about that. wireless however shows some signs of working. it shows some data has been sent, not received though. and my computer will detect and connect to it, but seems to lose the signal after a few moments. when i bring up a browser it doesnt even look like something might load. it just says im offline. could someone help me with this?
The other part of this problem is i really just want to connect to my computers ad hoc network and use a wireless keyboard and mouse program. none of them seem that great unfortunately.. recommendations are appreciated. but my biggest issue is that i cant seem to connect to an ad hoc network. i believe my phone detected it only once while i was on the "white widow" rom, but could never quite connect..
