I also installed setCPU but not sure where to go next with it. How do you run it?

Rooted Eris users, if you're a member of XDA, you can go grab your free copy of the newest version of SetCPU, version 2.0c, over here:
SetCPU for Root Users [2.0.0c] This *actually* changes everything. 06/28/2010 - xda-developers
As has always been his policy, coolbho3000 is releasing it free of charge to all XDA members. If you're a member, log in and you'll be able to download it from the attachments. If you're not a member, you can buy the app for $1.99 on the Android Market.
You still cannot include it in a ROM or otherwise re-distribute it.
My phone is allowing me to run at 768mhz. If the phone is allowing this is it okay to run at this speed or should I scale it down to something lower? The phone has been stable and I've had no issues since doing it about a week or so ago.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm learning a bunch of new things about different ROMs, and overclock, and JIT, thanks to all the great people here. I'm curious what current ROM everyone is using - and what your SetCPU profiles are set to for Max/Min.
View 18 Replies View RelatedI just installed the setCPU app. What is the max yours will reach? Mine will only do 710 on the sensable 3.1 rom. Is there something I'm missing?
View 49 Replies View RelatedI'm rooted via the 'rooting for dummies' for two days now. I've had my eris since this spring and was happy until recently my OTA2.1 dialer lag was infuriating. Rooted, started with PlainJaneT2. SO MUCH BETTER! Now using latest xtrROM. EVEN BETTER (imo)! Tempted to try KaosFroyo but there's no browser flash yet? I'll play with xtrROM for awhile longer. do you use setcpu w/ xtrROM. I know it's OC'ed from the get-go (235-710 or something) but I heard 528-604 is the sweet spot for the eris.
View 15 Replies View RelatedI know that kaos is OC'd to 710 by default, but has anyone tried setting their main SetCPU profile to a lower frequency? Tonight I lowered mine to 245/528 to see what it'd be like, and I honestly haven't noticed much of a difference. Maybe some of my LauncherPro animations aren't as smooth, but that might just be in my head.
Haven't tested this beyond a few hours or with heavy multitasking, but I think I might run with it for a while and see what happens.
UPDATE: Getting Linpack scores around 3.5, which isn't as high as the 4.5+ I was getting before, but is just as high as or higher than the scores I've gotten on most other ROMs (including xtr).
I'm looking for a "stock" rom with basically everything the same but I want setCPU and tethering with everything else functional. Any tips?
View 2 Replies View RelatedDoes KaosFroyo v34 have SetCPU built in? Or is it even compatible with this kernel? If yes, where do I find it? I really want to tweak things to see if I can get this battery to last longer.
Also, any idea how to set a CA/user certificates in: Settings>Wireless & Networks>VPN Settings>Add VPN>Add OpenVPN VPN (when I select either of those, the only option I have is "Cancel")
So I had the setCPU widget on my homescreen, and was noticing that when I wake my phone up, the screen comes on but it would take about 4 or 5 seconds for it to respond to any scrolling or touch input. At first I suspected it was my screen off profile being too low (480/245). But I then removed the widget and the problem seems to be solved for the most part. Can someone confirm that this is an issue or is it just a placebo? Oh, running PlainJaneT2 Stock 2.1 with OC and A2SD.
View 9 Replies View RelatedJust rooted, was much easier than I thought. Having issues with SetCPU. I've paid and installed the app but it's read only. There's a button to run disable perflock, which was recommended for HTC users, though the things runsa dn comes back that I don't need to disable perflock.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI'm running a rooted Eris on nonsensikal 3.9. I just rooted last night and I'm very new to all this. When I first ran setcpu it gave me another root access error. So I went onto super controls and gave I access. Now whenever I run setcpu I'm. Able to move the slider only one time then it freezes everything so bad I have to pull battery.
View 32 Replies View RelatedI have tried several different Froyo Roms over the past very weeks. I still can't get any good battery life out of them compaired to running EE3.0. Yet everyone tells me they get better battery life while running Froyo. My phone has currently been unplugged for 9hrs 13 mins. It has a total of 50 mins talk time and I have sent 30+ text messages. My battery level is @ %73 running EE3.0
I can't get a total of 11hrs out of my phone when running any of the Froyo Roms. Ive tried running several different settings on SetCPU but nothing noticable. Only thing I notice is that when running Froyo the largest use of my battery is my Display. Yet when running EE3.0 the largest use is Cell Standby and Display is the lowest. But I have tried turning the brightness almost all the way down on the Froyo ROM but it doesn't make any difference.
What is the best way to set up SetCPU for optimal performance and battery preservation. A balance between the two, I suppose. What profiles do I need to enable and how should I modify them?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to maximize the battery life of my phone. I keep coming across an app refereed to as AUTOKILLER?
Just what is this app, and what are the benefits? If I am running SetCPU, do I need to run both? Do I need Advanced Task Killer too?
(FYI, I am running Cyanogen Tazz 1.0, and besided not having the trackball light up, I am loving it. I just want to get optimized battery life)
Using Droid with Droidmod 1.0. I just updated to the newest version and for some reason when i have my profiles on.It sets it to max of 384 and min of 250. The lowest max i have set in my profiles is 600 so how can it show max is 384.
I know this is something real easy.
Of course using auto-detect
set on boot checked
on-demand (main screen)
on-demand (profiles)
max on all profiles is set to 600 min 250.
Anyone foresee any issues on OC'ing on the standard rooted ESE81? Does the kernel support overclocking?

View 5 Replies View Relatedjust as the title says, i set the max MHz at 1100 and as soon as it goes into sleep mode or i reboot it it resets at 900 I'm rooted and have p3droids standard voltage 1.1 kernel. whats up with this?
edit - yes i searched, very broad results. maybe could have found an answer after an hour of sifting through old threads.
I am using Nexbeast 1.0 and I have installed setcpu and advanced task manager. I hear that it messes up somehow but I haven't noticed any problems. In fact before I installed setcpu my phone kept on restarting due to overheating. Am i messing my phone up in a way I can't detect? Any clarification on this issue would be great.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI just rooted my droid to Liquid froyo 1.6. Everything is smooth except for SetCPU, it doesn't want to do anything for me. I made a widget, and whenever I try to change my speed, overclock or underclock it force closes, it won't let me do anything.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just rooted my phone today, and tried using "SetCPU". I can't get the max slider to go over 550mhz. Any idea on whats going on?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI downloaded and installed Bekit's 1GHz kernel and by default on SetCPU it shows it running at 1000MHz and such. But when I open SetCPU, it shows the bar maxed out at 528MHz with the Min at 245Mhz. And if I try and change it, it reverts the cpu back to 528MHz.I'm going to try another kernel (I checked to make sure I was in fact running Bekit's 1GHz kernel in the about phone), but can anyone explain this?long bench was 762ms, so I'm apt to think it's something with the display and that I am in fact overclocking correctly, yes? UPDATE: Sorry all I just uninstalled and reinstalled SetCPU and this corrected the discrepancy.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI finally rooted my phone, and put froyo on with flash. works great. Now i want to overclock as well. What do you use for overclocking the cpu speed?? I've seen setcpu referenced...are there any alternatives???

View 18 Replies View RelatedI know there was a discussion of using a temp monitor app back when Taz had kernels that could access it, but now that BB 1.0 uses BeKit is there an app that can monitor cpu temp again?
I think setCPU monitors battery temp which I guess is ok, but it's not perfect. Is there another program that monitors battery temp (if CPU temp not available) without using setCPU?
I am pretty happy with the stock 2.1 OTA.. But I would like to overclock the phone, and use a temp monitor to keep it safe.
I have looked around in the "all things root" and most post seem to be about putting on a different ROM.
Is there an easy way to just get Root access, and then put on SetCPU..
New to rooting and just got myself setCPU. I was wondering what some standard profiles that people use to maximize performance and battery life. So far I have it set to underclock when the screen is off and when less than a certain battery percentage. What temperature should I be looking at as "dangerous" to set my cpu to underclock then as well? Any other recommended profiles?
