HTC Droid Eris :: Is USB Tethering An Option With A Rooted Phone?
Aug 21, 2010Used PdaNet in the past under the free trial without much problem, was told not to upgrade to avoid the blocking of https and to do backup with astro to save that feature.. switched to a different phone for awhile and just came back to the eris still had pdanet installed but had removed from pc and had to reinstall there.. I can log into alot of site with user/pass but not yahoo or ebay (the two I need most) When I re-installed on pc it also reinstalled on phone. Did this mess things up? WHen I go into astro the only options now are to uninstall or browse file.. Is there any way to get back to where I was? Is USB tethering an option with a rooted phone?

Oct 10, 2010My first droid died recently (RIP), and thankfully the insurance did have droid 1's to replace it (refurb). My original had the raised keyboard, this one doesn't. Otherwise seems the same--except: under Settings-->Wifi and Networks is a tab called "Tethering." So I plugged it into my computer, turned on USB Tether, and yet I couldn't seem to get internet from the phone's data service. Is this a weird, non-working foyo feature?

May 24, 20131. I don't have the bluetooth tethering option? It used to be there with my old S3 (now I have S4 and Rogers Note II) - see screenshot attached.
2. How can I have more space of preview of conversation? Is there any ROM that actually reduces the vertical space needed to type in the message (to 1 line)? The light grey border and 2 line of typing area is just waste of space (iPhone has this right!)

Apr 6, 2010I am looking for a good tethering app so my wife can get her iTouch on line when we're on the road. I thought i had found a good one, but realized it only works on windows. I guess I have to download a program on the windows PC for it to work. So I'm hoping for one that will just work on anything. Does anyone know of an app? Or do I have to root my phone first?

Jul 28, 2010Before the update from 1.5, I had no issues tethering my MacBook through my Droid Eris with PDANet. The phone function of the handset was the only operation that would interrupt the signal.
Since the update, my Eris interrupts my internet frequently, without apparent reason. It begins the annoying cycle of kicking me off the web, alerting me that the phone was not ejected properly, mounting, launching iPhoto (which I cannot prevent from happening), and then I have to exit PDANet and relaunch so I can reconnect. It's a juggling act! Sometimes this cycle will repeat five or six times before the phone and computer settle down.

Oct 21, 2010Why is it that Andoird apps don't have a close or exit. Having to hit the escape key a bunch of thime to exit an application.
In that regard the RIM OS works much better. I knew exactly what was running and what I wanted to close.
It is particularly annoying with the internet app. One has to navigate backwards through as many sites visited for the stupid thing to finally close.
HTC Droid Eris :: No Option To Add Multiple Recipients
May 8, 2010Gmail itself receives email perfectly. The problem is when I compose an email, there is no option to add multiple recipients. The HTC mail app has an icon of a "person" next to the recipient (or "to" block). There is no such icon on the gmail app. There is a "to" block but no way to add multiple recipients. I have to manual type in a name (though it does recognize and try and auto finish the name). Am I missing something? Typing each name in for a mass email is a huge pain.

Aug 23, 2010I know that this is sort of stupid thing not to know, but how do you actually set up the link between the Eris and the desktop when using Wireless Tether? I went through the Wireless network Setup and I even went through Network Setup Wizard and Network Connections and still haven't been able to figure out how to actually initiate wireless tetherthing through wi-fi. I'm sure that it's something bonehead that I haven't considered. The only time I've set up networks is with the help of ISP tech support or the ISP setup CD.

May 6, 2010I have a rooted 2.1, it's been working perfectly since I rooted and updated and all.I love how fast and responsive everything is now.BUT one of the main reasons I rooted was so that I could take advantage of the wifi tethering.It works sometimes.sometimes great.BUT if I try to go to facebook.it'll work well sometimes, then others it won't even load the page.then eventually just kills my connection. gmail seems to have the same reaction.works sometimes, other times, nothing. i dont seem to have much of a problem surfing other sites.HOWEVER if i try to download anything over like 4MB big...my connection just gets killed all together, and nothing works. a friend of mine sent me his bands new demos...the zip file is like 35MB.it only gets a little ways before just dropping down to 0.0kbs and then it just sits there, not loading crap. I can re start the connection, and it will start downloading again, but after about 30 or 40 seconds.the connection gets killed again. Same goes for a torrent...if I try to download a torrent, it'll work and get pretty fast, up to 190kbs.but after just under a minute, connection killed. why is this? does verizon kill data connections that come in to fast or something? i have a friend who tethers with at&t with his iphone, he got the demos downloaded in like 12 min on his iphone tethering app. do i need to do some tweaking to my phone so I can download? im not trying to go crazy, but I'd like to atleast be able to get large attachments and such.

I don't get the little favorite option. My favorites home screen works, but on the call>menu I have People and Call History, but no Favorites button? When the Verizon upgrade came up, the first time I did not use the option to clear data. Big mistake. Make sure you clear data when upgrading to 2.1.
