I have the 2.1 offical root of the eris and have setcpu apk on my phone but when I go to load it I choose my model I have which us Eris users have to select hero then it just force closes. Any ideas?

I know there have been other threads about the Youtube app no longer working (majority of the time), but it looks like it hasn't been commented on in awhile.SO, I really want to get this phone but won't until I know the bug is fixed.Can you Eris users let me know if your Youtube app is working or not working? (basically by not working I mean, almost every video you try to open you get a message saying: "Sorry, this video cannot be played")Also, does anyone have any logical ideas as to why not EVERY Eris user is affected by this bug?

It'll also start playing a song skip to another , then another then back to the original and then call my voicemail. Other times when I dont even have a music app open and try to send a text it'll start playing a song. Anyone have any clue what is going on?

Google Maps & Latitude, Youtube, the Market will not load properly and will either give error messages or won't load at all. Gmail, Voice, Gtalk and the web still work. I have did a couple reboots, pulled the battery, cleared the cache and nothing has helped. Any suggestions short of a factory restore or the Verizon store?

It says "obtaining address" and never goes anywhere after there. setting a static IP would fix it, but I'd like to get to the root (pun) of the problem.
View 3 Replies View RelatedProblem: Cannot receive SMS or MMS
Ever since flashing CyanogenTazz v5 ( Let me start by saying I DO NOT think this is related to the rom but rather to something that has happened in an effort to fix mms). Even flashing back to working White Widow ROM's as well as a full NAND restore to an older working WW4.6 still has the receive portion of SMS broken.
I had the same problems many had with mms..etc. I really don't use MMS, but I do use the normal sms text messaging quite a lot.
I can send texts(SMS) but get the same stuck "sending" on MMS.
This is where the problem is different, I have tried everything that i could find to try and fix this. The problem could have been caused by executing the 2 steps in the FAQ on the xda site under the Cyamogen Tazz thread ( Post 2).
What I have done to try and fix:
1) executed the step one fix on the FAQ post over on xda for CynanogenTazz regarding APN backup and restore. I even backed up the working APN from my daughters rooted 2.1 WW and tried to restore it, it failed. In doing so, I examined the xml files and noticed that the verizon stanza in her working one had APN="", vs what I had was APN=internet. I then made a copy of my file, edited the verizon stanza, saved it, deleted APN's and then restored the edited file. Same results.
2) I have wiped and flashed this thing so many times and in so many different orders in response to the 180+ threads have suggested to do. Like I stated above, I have also wiped and flashed back to WW as well as trying 3 other Froyo ROM's, all with the exact same results.
3) I also executed the 2nd option in the FAQ. This is where I thought I would have some luck as this actually replaces the apn-conf.xml and Mms.apk files in the system directory after mounted using adb.
This also did not work but has me thinking if there is something else that is sticking and perhaps needs to be replaced. I am hopefull that the CyanogenTazz v6 will fix my problem but since the problem is pervasive across all other roms, I am not optimistic.
I am just looking for some of you smart dev types out there that may know the inner workings of those apk modules or other modules ( radio?) that may need to be replaced/reflashed.
Sorry for the long post but I have tried to do my homework on this one and its driving me nuts, I would feel better if I had been able to flash back or NAND restore to something that works while waiting on v6 but now it doesnt seem to matter. ANY and ALL help is much appreciated. I also put my $$ where my mouth is and have donated to Tazz, Andrizoid and others on the forum for their help and progress and will continue to do so.
I just recently rooted my phone with the Plain jane rom and tried using the wifi tethering, but when i go on my ps3 or something to try and scan for a hotspot or SSID how come i can't find it?

Microsoft Gives Android the Free Barcode-Reading Tag App - Microsoft tag android - Gizmodo. I found it in the marketplace but it doesn't work on my Eris. I downloaded it and opened it but couldn't get it to scan any of the barcodes or QR codes I tried whereas my Barcode Scanner app picked them up easily. The is started freezing, doing nothing. I uninstalled and then reinstalled and all I got was force closes after that. Maybe it is not compatible with 1.5 although it was in the marketplace. Has anyone else tried it successfully? I guess I will stick with Barcode Scanner, not sure if Tag does anything different or better than that anyway although the article said it has an advanced way of reading.
I'm trying to debug apps with the new HTC Droid Eris and ADB doesn't seem to recognize the device. I have the latest SDK installed with "Usb Driver Package, Revsion 2" downloaded through the Android SDK and AVD Manager. When the device is connected, it recognizes new hardware and I point it to the USB_driver folder to install the drivers. Windows accepts and installs the drivers. However, "adb devices" from a command prompt never lists the phone. I've tried this on two different Windows XP systems. I have "Unknown Sources" and "USB Debugging" checked under Application Settings, Development.
View 6 Replies View RelatedTrying to get a2sd working and tried multiple times and can't seem to get it to work. Here are the steps I took. If anyone has the correct way or steps to get this working i'd love to get a2sd working on evil eris 3.0.
1. flash evil eris 3.0 to my phone (EvilEris3.0 zip)
2. flash kernel update (ee3kernel-signed zip)
3. after doing kernel update w/o rebooting; partitioned the sd card; then clicked select sd:ext2 to ext3
3. downloaded a2sd and placed it onto the sd card (dtapps2sd-2.7.5-pf4a signed zip folder)
4. flashed a2sd (dtapps2sd-2.7.5-pf4a-signed zip folder)
5. rebooted
6. waited for the phone to turn on but it just stays black. for 20+ minutes and nothing happens. Today, I recently flashed evil eris 3.0 rom back onto the phone and would like to start out from scratch and have someone post up a guide that works since the one on xda doesn't work and every other page i've found in google can not get a2sd working on my evil eris 3.0. Please help me find a solution to get a2sd working on evil eris 3.0.
Has anyone tried unprovoked with droid eris. I cant root it keeps giving me Communications with device were unexpectedly interrupted. i got the new 3.1 version updated the drivers, and I am on the OTA 2.1 with HBOOT 1.47 but nothing

I get sound fine through the ear buds, but my microphone isn't working, or at least, I can't find the options to turn it on. There is a CELB 1.9 rom (aka erislightning bolt froyo) that has WORKING cam...the gallery still goes funky when you try to view sideways but the cam DOES indeed have a working preview!

I went to do hers as well and when I get into the main menu the trackball doesn't scroll up or down. It works fine when the phone is in operating mode. She is running CELBfroyo. Any suggestions? View 37 Replies View RelatedI went to flash a zip in recovery tonight, (specifically the stock keyboard zip for xtrrom 4.6, but that's beside the point) booted into recovery successfully, and I noticed my trackball isn't working at all! It would let me select reboot now, but thats it. Trackball is working fine once it reboots into normal mode, but it is completely useless in Recovery. Is it permanently like this or is it just a minor glitch I can fix with a few things.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI finally rooted my Eris and installed KaosFroyo. All seems ok, had some issues to deal with, but got them figured out. Yesterday, I wanted to connect to my slingplayer, but my app doesn't work. It just starts, then disappears. I never get a screen up. Any ideas, or is there a log somewhere on why it might be crashing or whatever is actually happening.I also tried to move it to the SD card in Manage Applications and it says it is copy protected. Not sure if that has any bearing on this, but thought I'd mention it.I do like the KaosFroyo and really didn't want to start over with a different ROM.

However, I just realized that call history/caller ID doesn't really seem to be working. If I go to the call history page, everybody shows up as "unknown", even though they are all saved in my contacts (manually input). Also, it doesn't list the numbers - just "unknown" and the time the call was made/sent/etc. If I try to add the number to contacts from the call history page, it brings up a blank new contact sheet... the number isn't filled out in advance It also doesn't list numbers, names, etc if I am receiving a call... the phone just displays the (adorable) green guy - no name, no pic, even though these people are saved in my contacts. Does anybody else have this issue or know what might be causing it? I'm hopeful that I'm foolishly ignoring some setting..
