HTC Eris :: Downgrade To 1.5 Recovery.img
May 3, 2010When I try to place the recovery.img in the /tools folder, it tells me that there is already a file named 'recovery.img'. Should I go ahead and have it replaced by this new one?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI followed all of these instructions to downgrade my wife's rooted 2.1 and it seems to have worked fine. I've got it back to 1.5. She wanted the OTA upgrade because the 2.1 rooted version was giving her the silent call issue. Again, I went back to 1.5 because I wanted the OTA update. After doing this, she got the OTA update notification, it downloaded, processed and then failed. I've also tried to install the OTA manually and it won't work. The hboot is version 1.47. Has anybody had success downgrading their 2.1 rooted install to 1.5 and then getting the OTA update to work? I'm back at 1.5. What should I do next to get the OTA update working?

View 16 Replies View RelatedI have been Googling/Youtubing/ everything to try and find a way to downgrade to version 1.5 so i can root my droid eris. I just found that they only way to downgrade is to have a rooted phone? so in order for me to root my phone...i need to have an already rooted phone?! my question is, is there a way to downgrade from 2.1 to 1.5? or is there seriously not a way?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI received the 2.1 OTA and ran the update. My phone is much more sluggish and I would like to revert back to the 1.5 software. Is this possible???
View 1 Replies View RelatedI found this on Android Central (thanks to IzelTokatl) and someone there did verify it worked for OTA 2.1 phones. I tried it on my leak version 3 phone and I got the Hboot error again. I'm thinking this does not bode well for phones with the leak as once Verizon releases the upgrade for download from PCD or HTC we still won't be able to use it until the Hboot problem is fixed. The following instructions for doing the downgrade to 1.5 are cut and pasted from the Android Central forum and I edited them for PC's: Download the MR2 Upgrade Eris ROM from verizon partner: personal Communications Devices
1. Unzip the file
2. Plug your phone into your PC.
3. Navigate to folder ADR6200_MR2_Upgrade
4. Run .exe file in the folder (RUU_Desire_C_Verizon_WWE_1.17.605.1_release_signe d_with_driver.exe)
5. follow on screen instructions.
I recently flashed tenzos2.1, or whatever the name is, anyways... it waas super tweaky with too many FC's so I decided I would try another sense rom instead of going back to KaosFroyo. I then wanted to put xtrsense on my phone but while running tenzos my computer would not read my phone.. so I flashed the 1.5rom to get back to stock be cause it was the only rom existing on my phone. After that I put xtrsense on my sd card unmounted it and attempted to go into recovery... doing that I get a picture of my phone and an exclamation point, what in the world happened?
View 10 Replies View RelatedYou can test to make sure everything is working by going to a command prompt, go to the tools directory of the Android SDK, and type: "adb shell". If you see a "$" (or "#" if you're already rooted) sign you're good. i can't figure that out. what is directory of the android sdk? i think i know but im now sure. i did everything on the android sdk tutorial but it seems i was just doing it on my computer and not my phone. how do i know if it went on my phone? and how do i put it on my phone if i didnt do it. am i suppose to sync it of just connect it.

My phone works fine. Aside from rooting troubles, it boots up perfectly. Im on hboot 1.47 and want to root so I've been experimenting with it. ANyways, I boot into recovery mode, and all that came up was a picture of an eris with a red exclamation mark on it. What does this mean?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI went to flash a zip in recovery tonight, (specifically the stock keyboard zip for xtrrom 4.6, but that's beside the point) booted into recovery successfully, and I noticed my trackball isn't working at all! It would let me select reboot now, but thats it. Trackball is working fine once it reboots into normal mode, but it is completely useless in Recovery. Is it permanently like this or is it just a minor glitch I can fix with a few things.
View 15 Replies View Relatedso im on my second eris root. all is well thus far, accept now i am trying to boot from recovery to put vanilladroid on it, and i cant get into recovery mode. i didnt have this problem with the last phone i did this to, and i dont know what im doing wrong at this point. i have reloaded amon's recovery image, and done all of that process over again. nothing works, when i boot power/volume up, all i get is the skateboard guys, then the exclamation point inside a triangle, with a phone laying down. "button mashing" on the end and send buttons then leads the phone to reboot back to normal mode. i even tried to reboot recovery from adb, and still got this end result. i am out of ideas (as im no programmer...)also, i have tried to get on irc, but keep getting booted, even when switching sn's.so ive given up on that as well

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am pretty sure I have root, as if I open emulator and SU It goes $ to #. I am running build "2.19.605.1 CL123435 test_keys" and everything seems stable. It's funny that I'm running 2.1 because I never flashed the ROM, I couldn't get past recovery partition set-up.
When I try to press power+up volume all I get is the yellow triangle exclamation point with the android cartoon. This is where I stopped on my first attempt. When I powered the phone back up, it's running 2.1.
Can I re-download the recovery partition .zips and re-flash the root ROM to start all over? I'm thinking my DL's of some of the recovery images may have been corrupted. I'm thinking since I have root, re-flashing the root ROM shouldn't hurt anything right?
Kinda green here, it took me a long time to realize why there a bunch of different files with the same name, but not the same contents (pmb). I'm assuming that's the only filename that the boot loader will recognize.
I feel like such a moron for not knowing this. I used the one click method for rooting a week or so ago, and im currently running kaos froyo v30. I'm looking at running xtrROM4.0.6.1 and it says in the installation instructions that "YOU MUST HAVE A ROOTED PHONE WITH THE AMON_RA RECOVERY PARTITION"

View 32 Replies View RelatedI was running aloysius v12, tried flashing purehero 2.1, and got stuck on the white skateboarder boot screen. Pulled battery, tried recovering my nandroid backups, (use clockwork mod), and whenever I try recovering my backups, i get a "Error while flashing boot image!" message, and it stops.
I've tried flashing just the regular Aloysius2.0v12 file, not a backup, and i get:
Copying files...
E:Can't symlink /system/xbin/[
E:Failure at line 10:
symlink busybox SYSTEM:xbin/[
Installation aborted.
The only thing I can do from here is try to flash something else, or reboot. I can't get past the recovery screen.
I'm not sure where to go from here. Someone told me to install amon ra instead of clockwork, and to flash a new rom from there, but I don't know if that'll be the right way to go about it or even how to do that. Sorry for being such a noob, and i'm sure this problem is in a thread somewhere else but i looked all over and couldn't find it.
Does anyone know where I can find the instruction manual for ClockworkMod Recovery? I want to know what each one of the options does, and when it should be used. If I use app2sd should I be wiping something extra when I install a new ROM? What does it do when it wipes the cache partition and dalvik?
View 5 Replies View RelatedAlright im already rooted and i flashed clockwork recovery image and I want it gone. I'm trying to go back to Amons recovery image. However when im in the command and I type in adb push recovery-ra-eris.img /sdcard I get no such file or directory error... but i have the file in the tools folder of my androidsdk... any thoughts..
cd
cd c:AndroidSDK ools
adb devices
adb shell mount -o rw,remount /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
adb push recovery-ra-eris.img /sdcard
adb push flash_image /system/bin
adb shell chmod 755 /system/bin/flash_image
adb shell flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-ra-eris.img
After i do the recovery-ra-eris.img i get an error
I've got the rooted 2.1, easy. I've got all the java and adk and what not I got the flash_image and recovery.img. The command prompts all work fine till the last command, (I've tried 2 different chain of commands both work until a certain point).
adb shell mount -o rw,remount /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
adb push recovery.img /sdcard
adb push flash_image /system/bin
adb shell chmod 755 /system/bin/flash_image
adb shell flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img
(After this one it says it cannot find flash recovery or image, cant exactly remember.)
- Open the Terminal and copy and paste the following commands with the phone connected to your computer.
- adb shell [hit enter]
- su [hit enter]
- flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-RA-eris-v1.6.2.img (once again not found but I believe I followed correctly) this the end of commands the first half worked fine.
I spent some time rolling back my Eris this evening, putting it completely back to stock, including installing the 1.47.0000 S-ON (locked) bootloader. This post is mostly for documentation purposes, but I did discover the answers to some long-standing questions of mine - look for these trivial nuggets highlighted in green down the post a little bit.
