Does anyone know how can i revert from 1.6.2 to 1.5.76 or even the stock one, i've tried flashing it but it wont backup my current RImage, i've tried two different Recovery Flasher apps but none of them works?.... Please can you help me? i need to do this in order to unlock it.

When I try to place the recovery.img in the /tools folder, it tells me that there is already a file named 'recovery.img'. Should I go ahead and have it replaced by this new one?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI rooted my phone a while back and I am trying to update the recovery image. I think the recovery image I have downloaded (recovery-RA-hero-v1.6.2) has some extra options such as being able to flash the radio which is what I want to do. I have updated my rom to 2.1 by copying the image accross and naming it update.zip and booting into recovery and applying the update. That is fine and I am now running SenseHERO-2.1_signed-update. I have tried using flashrec but it fails with "cannot run command" and I think it is because I already have a patched recovery image. What is the best thing to do? Can I update my recovery image manually from the command line? Can I update the radio in the same way? Have I misunderstood the procedure?

Type (press and hold menu to get the keyboard up) in the following: su (press enter and wait for the "Super User Request Prompt". Choose "Allow" and make sure its ticked to Allow every time.) flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img it replies: flash_image: not found.... (and i did typing OK,I tried with renamed and un-renamed file). OK,then I tried with Flash rec from this tutorial BUT.... Flash custom recovery is missing. There is only: download recovery image button,but blanked. I just don't get it,img file is in /sd/recovery.img or longer version: /sd/recovery-RA-hero-v1.5.2.

View 2 Replies View RelatedTo use more features in the ROM Manager app I decided to flash the Clockwork recovery image from Rom Manager.I got the message the image had flashed so I tried to restart my phone to make sure it flashed and to make a nandroid with the new image.Phone would not boot into recovery for me.So I pulled the battery (phone was stuck on "HTC" screen), waited 10 seconds, replaced battery and tried starting the phone in regular mode instead of recovery.That worked.So I tried restarting in recovery mode again.Failed again. Figured the problem was in the Clockworkmod recovery image. So I pulled/waited/replaced the battery again and restarted the phone in regular mode.Used the USB to get to my SD card and went into the file for the Clockwork recovery image and deleted it.Then I pasted the 1.6.2 RA back onto my SD card and planned to flash it.
But I have not been able to flash the image because all my phone does now id get to the "HTC" screen and stays there.Nothing else to show it is booting up.Finally pulled my SD card and put it in my card reader on my computer.Pasted the Clockworkmod recovery image back into the correct folder, thinking I might be able to at least get the phone to boot up in regular mode. No luck.Just goes to the "HTC" screen I see every start-up and stays there.So the 1.6.2 RA is on the root of my SD but not flashed.The Clockworkmod image is back in it's folder but not re-flashed.
Installed Flash Rec after trying to root my hero (following the guide stickied to the top of this forum) and its not giving me the button/menu item to flash it. My options are to Download Recovery Image (Grayed out) or Restore Backup Image which once clicked gives information 'Backup Complete'. How do I proceed?

My question do I delete the RA 1.5.2 on my phone then push or do I just push 1.6.2 and is that it? Is there more steps after placing a new Recovery Image.

I've tried RUUing my phone but that won't work now. It dies on the HTC screen and when I pull the USB I get to a menu that has the option of RUU but it wont' do anything.

I can't load the flash_image to my system/bin file. My phone IS rooted and I've done it via various ways and none of them will give me permission to move the flash_image to the /system/bin folder
I can't flash a recovery image to flash_image because... flash image doesn't exist.
I'm at th end of my rope and I'm about to slip it around my neck. I know I need to step away from this and take a deep breath, but I'm determined.
Anyone able to give me some hints to as what I'm missing

ran into a little problem yesterday when i was going back and forth between roms. i usually wipe before restoring nandroid but this time i ran into the error nandroid adb thing. i was able to get into rom manager and flash clockwork recovery and then flash back RA_v1.6.2 to restore my nandroid but i was wondering whats the BEST and NEWEST recovery image out right now? i dont want to run into this problem again. i thought i broke my phone! lucky i searched on here and someone said to reinstall the recovery image which is what i did and it worked!

View 7 Replies View Relatedi have a samsung galaxy S3 with t-mobile. i recently updated to jelly bean 4.1.2 and disliked the new gallery and a couple of other new functions so i decided to downgrade. i dl odin v. 1.85 and jelly bean 4.1.1 and started the process. it failed and when i reboot my phone the triangle warning about putting it in kies emergency recovery mode pops up whenever i turn it on regularly. i can go into the downloading menu so i know its not bricked or completely ruined but i don't know what to do from here. i did follow the phone instructions and dl kies and try getting into emergency recovery mode but it wont recognize my phone. i tried another Samsung phone and it picked it up right away.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have already rooted my hero but I did not flash a recovery image or perform a nandroid back up mostly because I could not find clear instructions on how to do so, which caused me to have to completely wipe my phone and start over after I deleted some programs that caused my loop over and over. I know the commands I need to run in adb to flash the recovery image but I do not know where to download the recovery image or where I need to store it I also can't find anything on nandroid back could somone please explain these in detail with the steps I need to take so I don't need to start from square one again.

I have password protected the device to stop the phone being used while it is on, but it's really pointless when someone can turn the phone off and just reflash the device.
Granted, they could do that anyway even if i had an offical rom without the recovery image, but it would still be a nice feature if it's possible.

Today, I installed universal one-click root app onto my phone from this link : [APP] [ROOT] 1-click root for N1 (Latest ver: 1.6.2 beta 5) - xda-developers and I believe I got my phone rooted. Now, I am hoping to get custom recovery image installed on my phone so that I can nandroid back up my current stock 2.1 based image before installing CM6. I was hoping to try clockworkmod through ROM Manager app. Does this image work in HTC Hero ? If not, is there any other recovery image that I should try for my 2.1 hero ?

My question is, will I break anything If I switch back to Clockwork? Since that's the format of my backup I currently have, I want to go back.
I'm new to this whole thing but I do have experience flashing other mobile devices in the past. Before I get flamed for this post let me just say that I have been reading possible fixes for this phone for a week straight. I've probably clocked in about 30 hours and I really wanna throw this phone against a wall.So here's the story:I got my Ally a week ago and rooted it using androot and everything went fine. The phone was rooted could install apps using Astro and everything. The problem is that I also wanna overclock this phone because I've read some pretty cool results. So I know I need to load in Velocity (or at least it's the most recommended), so I used ROM manager to install clockwork, tried to boot into the recovery and the phone just stayed stuck on the LG screen.(yes I checked the box to wipe data, cache and make a backup) After doing more research I find out that there is another recovery made by drellisdee and that it is also in rom manager so I try flashing that recovery and the same thing happens I get stuck on the LG screen. (The only way I can get out of this screen is by battery pulling).
After this didn't work I wiped my SD card in hopes of starting over, but when my phone rebooted suddenly now I have no internet access through verizon(still have wifi). So now my so called smart phone has become nothing more than a phone with wifi. I really need some help here, I've genuinely tried fixing it myself but nothing seems to work.I really hope I didn't just ruin my phone. Update: Just tried to make a call with my phone and it forwards me to a verizon wireless thing asking me to put in my credit card to make a collect call. Did I just get banned?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a CDMA Sprint HTC Hero running 2.27.651.6 If I have read the FAQ/Stickies/Walkthroughs correctly the first step in rooting my phone is to downgrade it to 2.27.651.5.I downloaded and attempted to run "RUU_Hero_C_Sprint_2.27.651.5_R_signed_release " however it doesn't complete. The program is "Waiting for Bootloader" for about 80 seconds and then fails with "ERROR [171]: USB CONNECTION ERROR". I am able to hear the Win7 sound effect of my device being disconnected when the program says "Rebooting Device" and I hear another sound effect right after it, like it is trying to reconnect the phone to my PC but the sound is different. I think something may be wrong when the device attempts to reconnect to the PC. At this point my phone is connected to the PC via USB and the phone is now stalled on the black screen with white "HTC" logo. If I unplug the USB cord at this point I get the white screen with skateboarding Androids at the bottom (which I assume is the bootloader). The following text is at the top of the screen.

So it's widely known that soft resets of this phone causes problems with the icons as well as displayed program names.Has anyone noticed that soft resets also revert some of your programs back to earlier versions? The 2 I've noticed most often are Pandora and Mybackuppro. For example, the current version of Pandora is 1.1.1. When I upgraded from 1.1.0 in the marketplace, I installed over the old version and everything was working fine. After a soft reset, I noticed that the opening splash screen for Pandora listed 1.1.0, but the listing under my downloads in the app store didn't list an upgrade needed. I had to uninstall 1.1.0 and reinstall 1.1.1. I had that version on for about a week until I had another soft reset. Sure enough, I'm back to Pandora 1.1.0. The same thing happened with mybackuppro.This is far more irritating than screwing up the icons or displayed name, because this is actually changing what version of the software we're using.early adopters being the beta testers for mobile manufacturers and carriers.
