I have a rooted 2.1 eris and adb is all set up. I get all the way down to the commands and the last one:
adb shell flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img
says file not found. What am I doing wrong

I've been trying to load amonRA's recovery for my nexus one. I've managed to unlock the bootloader, and gain SU permissions. But for the life of me,I cant seem to flash the new recovery image. I've used better terminal, and it says that theres no flash image found. But I have Put it on SD Card. I've copied the text correctly and I cant get it to flash. I've also tried to downgrade the radio to get better reception, and its saying that the update isn't signed. Is there something still locked up?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just rolled back using simple root, and before I started flashing custom roms I wanted to flash Amon RA's recovery-RA-evo-v1.8.0.img. I've tried flashing through terminal emulator, and that didn't work. I also tried flashing through adb. I have confirmed that I have root, but it's telling me that there is no image found. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

My options are to Download Recovery Image (Grayed out) or Restore Backup Image which once clicked gives information 'Backup Complete'. How do I proceed?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have already rooted my hero but I did not flash a recovery image or perform a nandroid back up mostly because I could not find clear instructions on how to do so, which caused me to have to completely wipe my phone and start over after I deleted some programs that caused my loop over and over. I know the commands I need to run in adb to flash the recovery image but I do not know where to download the recovery image or where I need to store it I also can't find anything on nandroid back could somone please explain these in detail with the steps I need to take so I don't need to start from square one again.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got the rooted 2.1, easy. I've got all the java and adk and what not I got the flash_image and recovery.img. The command prompts all work fine till the last command, (I've tried 2 different chain of commands both work until a certain point).
adb shell mount -o rw,remount /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
adb push recovery.img /sdcard
adb push flash_image /system/bin
adb shell chmod 755 /system/bin/flash_image
adb shell flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img
(After this one it says it cannot find flash recovery or image, cant exactly remember.)
- Open the Terminal and copy and paste the following commands with the phone connected to your computer.
- adb shell [hit enter]
- su [hit enter]
- flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-RA-eris-v1.6.2.img (once again not found but I believe I followed correctly) this the end of commands the first half worked fine.
I am running plainJane and want to change my font by flashing .zip on recovery. Can some one either point me to a list of fonts or post a list that I can download straight from my phone?

If you see a "$" (or "#" if you're already rooted) sign you're good. i can't figure that out. what is directory of the android sdk? i think i know but im now sure. i did everything on the android sdk tutorial but it seems i was just doing it on my computer and not my phone. how do i know if it went on my phone? and how do i put it on my phone if i didnt do it. am i suppose to sync it of just connect it.

However when im in the command and I type in adb push recovery-ra-eris.img /sdcard I get no such file or directory error... but i have the file in the tools folder of my androidsdk... any thoughts..

but when I get to adb shell flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-ra-eris.img, I get an error saying the flash_image not installed. Is there a better and/or easier way to get the flash_image and recovery-ra-eris.img install on my eris so I can get a nandroid backup? I really want to back everything up before I attempt to throw kaosfroyo on there.
i am going effing crazy. i am not good with the cmd prompt at all so i tried using grdlocks all in one package. i don't know where i am going wrong but i cannot for the life of me get the recovery image to install correctly. can someone hold my hand and walk me through it?

About a month ago installed the clockwork rom manager and installed the clockwork recovery to use the app. I could never get the recovery to show up so I deleted the app. I also deleted everything on my sdcard having to do with it. Since then I have used the RA recovery and have made and restored nandroid backups with know problem. Yesterday I went to make a nandroid backup and the clockwork recovery came up for the first time ever. when I went to restore a nandroid it said I didn't have any cause i never made any with clockwork and it must not look in the same folder. Im assuming there must still be a file somewhere to delete but I cant find out. And I can't restore any of my backups. Im using white widow 3.1 and haven't had this issue before with this rom.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just got my phone rooted and got the root image to load and did all that fun stuff but now im trying to get the recovery and flash image and i cant get it to work. i think SDK is the issue. i go to the command prompt and type in what the guide says and it saying "error device not found" i even did the all in one install on the guide page and it comes up with the same message.... does anyone have the slightest idea of how to get this worked out. im running windows xp with service pack three.

Earlier I downloaded ROM Manager which, after some searching gave me some problems other people have been having. I can't flash to the ClockworkMod recovery image as it gives me a "Error occurred while attempting to run privileged commands!" message. I tried reinstalling, fixing permissions etc. all with the same results. So now i'm trying to flash Amon's recovery image instead using Terminal Emulator and the command line: flash_image recovery /sdcard/file_name_here.img only to yield the message that the file could not be found or something. I'm on a mac and I saw another way on here that involves running commands from your computer to your phone using the skd. Just rooted yesterday, and everything was running great... untill I installed Simply Stunning v4.3. I went to make a back up and found that I cannot access my recovery, it was stuck at the M. Now Rom Manager says that if this happens, flash a different recovery then flash clockwork back. Here is the catch- When I try to flash a different recovery I get this, "An error occurred while flashing your recovery."

I can't see a recovery file on the SD card.
Well I decided to have a play and rooted my phone using the unrevoked method. All quite painless.
I flashed a version of DeFrost (2.2) and had a play, but encountered a couple of problems.
So I flashed 2.3 when is became available.
Then I haf problems with battery drain. Since then there have been a number of new releases of DeFrost - pretty much every day.
So I decided to restore my Nandroid backup and stick with the stock ROM until things settle down a bit.
Having done this, I can no longer get into recovery. The phone hangs on the Pink Circle screen and I have to pull the battery.
So has restoring the Nandroid backup which was made using the ClockWorkMod Recovery destroyed the recovery flash, and is that what you would expect or has something bizarre happened to me.
Just curious as I assumed that once the Recovery was on there it would stay there.
It's no big deal as I'm sure it will be just as easy to go through the rooting process again.
I'm using clockworkmod recovery and I was wonding if there was a simple way to flash the stock recovery back I wanted to do this because my updates not instaling.
