HTC Desire :: My Phone Still Branded To Virgin Mobile
Nov 5, 2010I successfully rooted my phone, its still branded to Virgin Mobile but I want Froyo, can I just use the stock Froyo or does it have to be a custom ROM for me to get 2.2, 2.1 is out dated now and I want the new version and waiting for Virgin is a joke.

Dec 5, 2013I froze some Google apps and did a factory reset without unfreezing them. I now get stuck in a boot loop every time I try to start the device. flashing system.img, boot.img, and recovery.img for this phone? I can't do it through the system recovery (power + vol down) because of signature verification. I can't do it through FTM (power + vol up) either. My Supreme is pretty much a brick right now. I only resort to this because I'm unable to rename the .bak to .apk through adb because of a read-only file system. The phone has no fastboot mode, either.

Sep 11, 2010Use this procedure at your own risk. It's based on information i've collected from various sources. If you brick your phone, invalidate your warranty or something else goes wrong then it's down to you. I've provided this procedure for information only. I've been asked by a couple of people for step by step instructions on how I debranded my Virgin Mobile branded HTC Desire and upgraded it to 2.2. From what I can remember I carried out these steps. I've used information collected form various threads on here and elsewhere. Use at your own risk!
It was essentially done in three steps: set up HTC Sync on my PC (Windows 7 64-bit), create the gold card and then update the firmware. You need to do a bit of preparation first - save any photos, etc that are currently on your phone onto your PC using the USB cable and the phone connected in disk drive mode. Make sure your phone is fully charged. Note down the serial number of your HTC Desire (remove battery and it's on the label or select Settings>About Phone>Phone Indentity). You'll need your serial number to download HTC Sync. Also enable USB Debugging in your HTC Desire by ticking the option under Settings > Application > Development (do this on your HTC Desire)...................

I think I've screwed up my phone. I performed a format with SP Flash tools and flashed a new rom. Stupidly I didn't take a backup of my IMEI number or a proper backup of my rom! . Luckily I found a CWM backup of my MP0B_001 file in my NVRAM folder and have managed to get my IMEI number back!
I have a problem though, I cannot get a mobile network signal but I CAN detect the sim card. It detects the network name and my mobile number but not a signal. Please see the attached image.

Jun 7, 2010After using Fresh's 2.0d for the last month, I decided to try DC 2.08. I did a Titanium Backup, copied 2.08 to the SD, wiped the phone and the dalvik and installed from the SD card. After the installation, the phone boots up but is stuck on the HTC logo screen (the white background that says "quietly brilliant"). It looks like it is looping as it shows the sprint screen every few minutes before going back to the HTC screen. I've tried wiping and reinstalling, but I am getting the same result.
FWIW, I root using Fresh Kitchen's auto-root if that matters.
Any suggestions? Should I try to flash Fresh's 2.1.2?

Jun 11, 2014I used the recovery mode first time - it worked, second time playing with NoBloat - it gets stuck in boot screen.I can go to the recovery mode menu, both chinese and english, can do a full clear cache, data, format, but phone still won't boot.
I can use ADB shell, but Smart phone flash tool does not recognize phone, MTK droid tool recognizes it, but I can't backup it.
