HTC EVO 4G :: Handcent Freezes And Closes When Erase SMS

I around 4,000 texts between me and my girlfriend over a while now and every time I try to erase them all because it almost seems like it slows down the application at times and when I do this handcent freezes and closes and then it almost crashes my phone as well the screen goes black and I am forced to take the battery out and reset it and uninstall handcent and reinstall it and then it works fine but the messages are all still there.

Every time I try to delete my message history the app freezes and force closes. Anyone find a way to get around this?

I have a rooted Fascinate. After a second re-root my SF has been very buggy. My first root was successful. I messed something up trying to install voodoo and had to flash back to stock. Now, after a second buggy root I am faced with many freezes and FC's. (primarily in com.android.settings, but will float to various apps). Battery pulls don't seem to help. After a certain amount of using my phone, hopping WiFi, maps, email, just normal use, something will need to FC.
Within the next few days I plan on un-lagfixing my phone & un-rooting it. Ultimately I'd like to take it back stock and not root. This leads to my question: what is the best way to flash stock. I don't want anything left. I can tell there was something left from my first root because ads still do not show up. I had an ad block program installed on my first root.

I used Handcent for a while and I really liked it, however you can't send MMS using it for whatever reason which is a big deal breaker for me.I uninstalled it and went back to the original messaging application, but now it just closes randomly.Like I'll open it and it will close instantly. Then I open it again and it works fine.Other times it will open fine, but then I'll try to open up an conversation and it closes automatically, then when I open it again everything works fine.It is very annoying. It just closes out to the home screen. I've deleted all my existing messages and I've tried resetting my phone, nothing seems to help.

My phone is moving extra slow, Handcent is giving me a lot of force closes, or not opening at all. I can't delete messages...can't download out the market, it will say starting download but will never actually start...I want to throw it against the wall

Some days ago I created a thread asking about random freezes/restarts.Well, Google Play is now freezing every time I try to check for an app, I've also realized the cache thingy only works for a while, I went on a trip, now that Im back the tablet freezes again and all.Should I just cache wipe everytime this happens, or just once? Is it safe to cache wipe really often?

when the stock Messaging app wasn't cutting it, I installed Handcent.But it started flaking out on me, so I dumped it and went to the more-reliable chompSMS.I liked it a lot.But to be completely honest, I missed some of the features of Handcent. But reliability is Job 1, so I kept chompSMS for a few weeks.Then I heard that Handcent received a major update a few days ago, so I replaced chompSMS with Handcent. So far so good. I got all the features back, and I haven't had one single issue in days of texting. So if you're like me and you left Handcent for chompSMS, you may want to give the new version a spin.

Can I completely erase all the contents on my SD card? If so, will my Eris still run properly? I have installed so many apps in the past and each one leaves its own feces on my sd card and Im not quite sure what I need and what I don't need. Program feces sucks, and I'm ready for a clean SD.

when I run the command adb logcat while running the android emulator, all of the old logs blow past and so I figure they are stored in a file somewhere. Is there a command I can run to clear the logs and start fresh? If not, is there some other way to do this?

Everything was fine (since 4/28) until yesterday....all of a sudden, there is a notification in the status bar for 2 new voice mails- I am, and have always used google voice for my voicemail - the notificaiton says to call my gv number, which is unusual, because it usually says that one of my contacts left a voicemail - anyhow, I have no new gv messages - went online and deleted all of them, also powered on and off the phone, even removed the check mark in settings to notify in the status bar......can't get rid of this this notification....there is no "clear" option, as you usually get when checking notifications from the menu button
Even calling my gv number manually, entering my pin, and hearing "you have no new messages" doesn't remove the notification from the status bar....this is very weird. Anyone else exp something like this from gv ?

I can't completely erase data. Yes I've wiped in cwm installed different ROMs cleared everything restored from RUU but using the app Diskdigger I can always find files & everything that I've already deleted. I have tried force running the TRIM action which was successful but I'm always able to recover deleted files.

So I was browsing the web about this "Setting up lock and erase" procedure available via google play.
"Tried a lock device and it works. Makes me feel a bit better if some scrote gets hold of my device"
My question is: What is preventing this "scrote" from accessing the phone via recovery mode and do a factory reset?
If there's no secondary in depth protection what's the use of this "security" procedure?

I finally found a way to erase the market search history and I thought I'd share with you all. Just download the free app "History Eraser". Install, select "google apps" then clear market search histories. All nice and clean after!

It sucks that you can't delete words that are in the Dictionary. I get so annoyed when I am typing out a word and it puts a totally different word in place. You ever type out one of the days of the week? It ALWAYS puts a (s) at the end! For example I want to say I am having a Super bowl party on Sunday and it will put Sundays. Another thing that drives me crazy I could say "Maybe I will come over later" and it says "Maybe I Will come over later" Why does WILL have to be spelled like a name in this instance? I add lower case "will" to my dictionary but it still reverts back to the other one when I am typing.

I want to root my EVO just to uninstall sprint apps and get free wifi tethering. I don�t want to flash any roms. My phone is updated to the 1.47 software version. I have a few questions regarding this process�
1.)Will my phone be completely erased after this root? Because I installed a lot of apps and don�t wanna go through that process again..

I went to t-mobile and had then down load my contacts from old phone to sim, but left out most of my numbers and all my email addresses . what i want to do is erase all my numbers on my new phone . Then down load my numbers to gmail and then to my phone . I cant figure out how to wipe out all my numbers on my new behold 2 without doing it one by one.

I installed the OTA update 2.2 when it was delivered to my unrooted phone. I want to go back to 2.1, but when I go to settings>SD & phone storage>Factory data reset it gives the warning that it will NOT erase: Current system software and bundled applications. Does this mean that the update 2.2 will still be on the phone, or does it goes back to 2.1?

I wanted to create a new account on a game but the game keep remembering me so I can't create a new account.
Basically I been playing Valkyrie Crusade and I want to start all over. When I install/reinstall the game, it auto logs in with my account. Even when I did factory reset(erase data on SD card also) on my phone, it still auto logs in with my account so I can't create a new account. I factory reset, download game from app store, install app and game still recognize this phone's account.
So yeah, just wondering if there's a way to completely resets it.
