View 3 RepliesI noticed a few days ago Friday that my battery all of a sudden started draining faster; a lot faster. I did a FDR Tuesday night and through most of the day Thursday it was much better. Thursday evening i started reinstalling apps to test if it was actually better and noticed as soon as i did that the phone was never sleeping again. My up time and awake time were almost the same as soon as i reinstalled everything. So last night I uninstalled everything again except for swype. I'm going to watch it today but I'm not sure what to expect. Have you seen swype affect your battery life.

View 3 Replies View Relatedhow the Apps affect Battery usage. I'm using a Note 2 with the latest OS.
So, I wanted to know if the apps are still using battery power when I switch screens? When I press the center (home) button, it shows me thumbnail list of all the apps, areas I've been to or used. I can select and remove them from the list. I am wondering if they are still using battery power until I remove them from the list. If this does tend to use extra battery power, is there an app out there that will definitely turn off the app when I am not using it?
I just don't know how Android manages Memory/power. It just seems that I can watch my battery power decrease, even when it's not being used.
So I changed my DPI setting to 150 since in launcher pro I use 5 rows instead of 4 so it doesn't overlap etc. And wanted to ask if changing the DPI setting may affect the battery usage (recalculating screen) or CPU (making it slower) or the games will lag? etc.
Changed it back, I think was lagging and the text boxes were smaller not on the whole page. And the confirmations had green lines in the middle.
How I did it:
1. Root Explorer , mount R/W in system
2. Open in text editor.
3. Edit the build.prop line with ro.sf.lcd_density=150 and save the file
4. mount R/O and reboot
Still if someone knows something about the battery usage and cpu etc. So I know in future if I should play around with this one.
I'm trying to understand a few things about ROMs,the froyo upgrade from Verizon and battery charge speed. It's no secret the recent froyo update extended the time it takes to reach a full charge. Is this a function of the ROM they deployed, the kernel or something else?I hope I'm using the right terminology

View 4 Replies View RelatedDoes it affect the battery if I constantly keep my phone plugged into my USB while at work? It's kind of warm right now, but I'm not worried b/c it's not overly hot. I just want to make sure it's ok. I got this phone Friday for my wife and myself and we both love it. My wife says she can't hardly put it down. I'm sitting at work streaming pandora while I work.
View 4 Replies View RelatedThe EVO looks like a sweet phone, and if they ever bring it to Verizon with some LTE love, I'll probably buy one, but does anyone wish that they increased the resolution of the screen just a little to take advantage of that big 4.3" display? Maybe the next gen will. All in all, it looks like a great device, but I don't think it's going to save Sprint from still loosing customers.
View 5 Replies View RelatedJust got my D2 yesterday after spending way too long with the Eris... so far I'm loving it, but I have one question: do everyone's phones seem to randomly open 10-20 apps in background at all times? These aren't even apps I use, like a Sudoku game I haven't tried once yet. I'm not too worried about it, since performance seems to be fine, but I'm wondering if this will affect battery life.

I have an ANDROID tablet with screen resolution of 600*976 which is quite rare and is not supported by many ANDROID apps....here comes the question : is it possible to change the screen resolution of display? eg 800*480?

how can i accommodate bigger resolution images in android.
when i try to display bigger resolution image from Internet it give me null bitmap.
any one guide me whats the solution?
Is there a way to change the Display output resolution in Android?
I'm not talking about the screen density (DPI). I'm talking about the pixels.
The thing is I own an Acer Iconia A700 FullHD tablet but there is lag, especially on 3D games that forces the native screen resolution of 1920x1200.
So forcing the resolution from 1920x1200 down to 1280x800 would theoretically reduce those lags.
So it works with some games that comes with an option to change the resolution, but most games doesn't have an option, they simply run in 1920x1200 and lag really badly.
Is there a way to change the overall resolution down to 1280x800 ?
I know it MIGHT be possible but there could be a problem because the image has to get upscaled to the native display resolution.
And I don't know if the Tegra 3 comes with an hardware scaler. So if the resolution gets changed, it might get upscaled and filtered (or not) OR just centered in a smaller image in the middle of the screen.
But either way.. Is it possible? if yes, how?
I am a new android user, and got my Droid 2 the morning they came out at the Verizon store. Now the guy that was helping me at the store told me that the battery life would be bad because of the high resolution screen but I didn't expect it to be this bad. I have been having really bad battery issues and I don't even use it constantly. I have it on around 20% brightness during the day, and I really only send text messages, and some web browsing but not a huge amount. My battery will be drained after 6 hours or so, and will need a charge again. When checking on battery manager it does say that most of my energy is going to my screen, but like I said I don't even have it close to the full brightness. I have been using an app killer program to try to maintain that also, but I did read somewhere that it can actually hurt your battery more, from closing and opening apps. Just wanted to hear some feedback from other users since we a couple days after launch. Everything else has been great with this phone, and I am REALLY enjoying the android OS after switching from a Blackberry.
View 49 Replies View RelatedI have a program that should work on Android 1.5, but when it's run on newer devices with higher resolution screens, it should support the full resolution and not emulate a lower resolution screen. As far as I can tell from the documentation, this should be simple.
I just specify
code:.........
The problem is that if I tell Eclipse to compile for 1.5, it refuses to accept this. It reports an error (targetSdkVersion is an unknown tag) and refuses to compile or run. If I tell it to compile for 1.6 it works fine, of course. But if I then try to install on a 1.5 AVD, the program immediately crashes with a java.lang.VerifyError. I'm clearly missing something simple. How do I get it to compile an apk that works under 1.5, but still includes the targetSdkVersion tag?
How do I convert phone resolution Bootanimation to tablet resolution?
I have 4 boot animations that I want to convert to work on my Nexus 10 full screen.
Also, how to be able to edit [URL] to show 10 instead of 4 or completly remove the number so it works nicely on both my Nexus 4 and Nexus 10.
I used to mod battery display in the status bar by modifying some PNG.But, with android 4.4 things appear to have changed...We are facing a real issue attempting to understand the way the system operate to display battery in the kitkat version of android
In the previous versions of android, displaying battery icons used to require PNG and two XML files in the systemUI. It seems that it's different now under kitkat. We've seen, on some custom ROM, some battery variants, even on Google ROM. But so far, despite my searches, I've not seen any in deep explanation on the "how to" mod the battery display, just like we usually did for our modd before kitkat. According to our researches, commands are now located in smalis, but... we don't know how to modify them and make them work. However we don't know where to find images (ex PNG)... what miracle explains the battery images displaying.
i dont know where i saw it, but I've seen someone with their phone set up like this, instead of just the green battery icon at the top in the right hand corner, it actually displays the percent too. is this mething i can just flash right to my phone? or is this not possible. i also was wondering if anyone has heard anything about being able to change the entire font on your phone. i would love to be able to customize the font! i know i've asked before, can't hurt to check again!
View 19 Replies View RelatedI have a black background, I keep the display settings at the lowest brightness settings, and I keep the screen off when I'm not using it, but my phone is dying after 8-10 hours if I don't use it very much and 4-5 hours if I use it regularly. Every time it indicates that it needs to be recharged, 65-80% of the power is going to the display. I...don't see how that can be.I'm using a Samsung Vibrant that I bought on July 30th.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have done everything that I can think of in order to increase my battery life. I even took the old jeep to the shop to get the AC port fixed so I can charge in my car. I don't know if I have a genuine problem here or if I am just being picky. I know I have been using my phone more the past 3 days because it is a new toy and I can't keep my hands off of it, but I have noticed that the battery does not last more than 8 hour of normal use before it is completely depleted. I rooted it, removed the bloat, turned of GPS and Wireless assist, don't use WIFI, installed a task manager, and turned screen brightness to the minimum.
With all that being said the phone still does not last near what I think it should be. I have had it for 3 days now, so I am guessing what I am hearing from other people is that my battery should be broken in by now. I don't know what else to try. I noticed that when I check the battery use, the display is usually 70+ percent. Is there some day to decrease the brightness beyond the stock settings or something to increase life?Does it sound like I may need to do a battery swap. I know I have been playing with the phone more, but I feel like I haven't been using it so much that it should die that quickly.
I have downloaded several games and have noticed that when playing, I can't see the time or the battery icon. These are two things that are fairly vital when gaming on a mobile, as I am usually killing time and don't want to kill the battery. Anyone know how I can get them back on to the display?
View 1 Replies View Relatedhey guys i just bought and installed WidgetLocker and must say that it rocks. But there is one thing i can't get to work. I'm trying to display my battery life on the lockscreen but the widget i have (BatteryLife by CurveFish) does not work. It just shows a depleted battery icon and says "loading" while it never does load. It works fine on my regular home screen but I'd like to have one that is compatible with WL too. Also... i have limited space on my current lockscreen, so my ideal battery widget would only take up 1x1 space. Is there such a thing?
Thanks all in advance.
how come none of the roms for the droid don't display the battery remaining in 1% increments. I just put a new ron on my girlfriends eris and it has this ability, just wondering why we don't have that, it would be nice.
View 7 Replies View RelatedSince installing Froyo, and also doing a factory reset, my battery life seems much worse.
Also when I check what has been using the battery there are not as many apps displayed, typically just 'Display' and 'Cell Standby' even though I have used the web browser, wifi and Angry Birds.
Maybe the battery needs recalibrating with the new firmware?
The stock Android lock screen will display your battery status while your phone is charging; does anyone know how to have it display your current battery status while it is not charging?
This doesn't seems like a super difficult task to accomplish, I'm just unsure where I need to start to get things going. It would be so awesome if someone would actually help me.
i have 3 home launchers sony ericsson home , adw launcher and helix launcher so lets say if im using helix launcher as home default does other 2 launcher uses display memory also to drain battery? do they run at background? is it good to have 3 homes? im on fw 026 and rooted and i wana get most out of my battery.
View 2 Replies View RelatedFirst off, I read these forums like every day for 2 months (nearly drove my wife insane!) leading up to the release of the X. Stood in line and bought one in the store on the 15th. Had nothing but iPhones until now - loving my DroidX!
BUT
As of right now my battery is down to 60% after having been unplugged (when I unplugged I was at 100%) for 1hr 46m 9s!
It shows display at 93% and cell standby at 7%.
I'm running smart battery mode, auto screen brightness, not that many widgets, and I rooted it and have autokiller running on Aggressive.
Do I just have a bad battery? And if so will Verizon (or Moto) give me a new one?
