I was trying to go ahead and convert videos for my Evo so I installed Handbrake and was about to test settings but everytime I click start the command prompt comes up and it crashes. From what I read this seems to be a problem with Windows 7 (x64), which I am running, so my question is are there any alternatives to Handbrake?

What program should I use to convert video so that I can play it on the Droid? I have avi and mpg videos but nothing will play. And it tells me my movies are too big for fat32.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have just started playing around with the video on my new x. I uploaded some files onto my mac and they opened with Quicktime. Im not sure what format the files were copied in, but I tried to import them into imovie so I could edit them and it doesnt seem to recognized the files I uploaded from the x. Can someone tell me what format the x video is in and how I might convert this to a mac friendly file (preferably for free).

I used this guide exactly to convert them .How to convert videos and transfer them to the Motorola DROID X - Know Your Cell.The quality of the videos is great and so is the sound, its just in high "action" areas of the video its pretty choppy and laggy. One thing I should point out is that the videos original files are smaller than the droids highest resolution, but they still look great on the screen.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have "The Hangover" sitting on my computer. I converted it to .MP4 using handbrake, and it plays back just fine on my computer. However, when I put it on my phone, I hear the audio, and the player is playing (it shows the correct movie length and lets me jump from part to part of the video) but all I see is a BLACK SCREEN! Does anyone know what might cause this? I used the "Regular - Normal"" preset on the right side in Handbrake (my first time using it). Size is 672x272, Anamorphic is "Strict", Cropping is "Automatic", video filters are all OFF, Video Codec is H.264(x264), Framerate is same as source, and I chose constant quality 60.78% RF:20.Anyone have any idea what's going on? I just ordered an HDMI cable online so I really want to get this working.

I just received my phone today, so I'm still a noob when it comes to all of this, so please forgive my ignorance.I just downloaded my digital copies of UP and WALL-E onto my Mac with the intention of putting them on my Evo to watch. I can watch them fine through itunes in .m4v format. Through research, I have found that m4v's are basically the same as mp4's and that the Evo should be able to playback m4v files.However, when I transfer to my SD card (I made a "Videos" folder in my SD card) the video shows up in the native Video player, but I get an error saying it's unable to play. Additionally, I have tried downloading Real Player and mVideoPlayer and those too can see the file, but can not play it back.So I decided to try to convert the m4v files to mp4 via Handbrake. Problem is, Handbrake crashes every single time I try to convert a video. I followed this step by step tutorial, but to no avail.

Works fine but the file size is like 1.5GB, does anyone know if there is a way to make the file smaller? I'm not hugely concerned that the quality is the best, but hopefully not too pixally, I just want something to watch while I'm at the gym.

The devs for handbrake basically said they were sorry but it wont work on my system. Anyway, anyone know of a good program I can use to encode for the droid?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using myPlayer to download videos to watch during my commute. Even though the myPlayer app recommends arcMedia to play the downloaded videos, I've found that the default Videos app works just fine, and is a bit better thanks to the Dolby Mobile sound.
However... after downloading the video to the phone, the video takes an age to show up in the Videos app's list. I can usually prod the app into re-scanning the SD card for videos my unmounting and remounting the card, but that's a bit of a pain. Does anyone know of a way of just getting the Videos app to have another look for new files?
(I know, it's not a major hassle to remount the SD card, but I'm an ex-iPhone guy and used to the 'it just works' way of doing things...

I usually home movies through my western digital tv box with all my movies loaded on portable hard drives. So today i decide to take some movies from my phone to the hard drive and i realized that the phone records in 3gp. Why 3gp? That may be an old cell phone format but its not what todays 720p movies really record in. Does anyone have any recommendations for a conversion software or file type to convert these movies. It seems kind of useless to record movies that can only be watched back on a computer. And i know its not a canon hidef camcorder that cost over 1k. Its a cell phone.
