View 49 RepliesI have "The Hangover" sitting on my computer. I converted it to .MP4 using handbrake, and it plays back just fine on my computer. However, when I put it on my phone, I hear the audio, and the player is playing (it shows the correct movie length and lets me jump from part to part of the video) but all I see is a BLACK SCREEN! Does anyone know what might cause this? I used the "Regular - Normal"" preset on the right side in Handbrake (my first time using it). Size is 672x272, Anamorphic is "Strict", Cropping is "Automatic", video filters are all OFF, Video Codec is H.264(x264), Framerate is same as source, and I chose constant quality 60.78% RF:20.Anyone have any idea what's going on? I just ordered an HDMI cable online so I really want to get this working.
View 19 Replies View RelatedI have searched for Video Format threads and Handbrake threads, read them, tried things out, but I'm still stuck. I just received my phone today, so I'm still a noob when it comes to all of this, so please forgive my ignorance.I just downloaded my digital copies of UP and WALL-E onto my Mac with the intention of putting them on my Evo to watch. I can watch them fine through itunes in .m4v format. Through research, I have found that m4v's are basically the same as mp4's and that the Evo should be able to playback m4v files. However, when I transfer to my SD card (I made a "Videos" folder in my SD card) the video shows up in the native Video player, but I get an error saying it's unable to play. Additionally, I have tried downloading Real Player and mVideoPlayer and those too can see the file, but can not play it back.So I decided to try to convert the m4v files to mp4 via Handbrake. Problem is, Handbrake crashes every single time I try to convert a video. I followed this step by step tutorial, but to no avail.
View 40 Replies View RelatedI was trying to go ahead and convert videos for my Evo so I installed Handbrake and was about to test settings but everytime I click start the command prompt comes up and it crashes. From what I read this seems to be a problem with Windows 7 (x64), which I am running, so my question is are there any alternatives to Handbrake?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have noticed this with HandBrake in the past, but why does it take so long to encode a video? I have an .AVI file of Edge of Darkness and it is going to take over 3 hours to encode. Why is that? I can take a movie DVD, rip and burn it in less than an hour.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have tried to put some .avi videos on my Desire but when I watch them it either plays for a few seconds then comes up with "This video cannot be played" or it doesn't play at all. Also it doesn't play full screen. So from searching thru the forums here, i have found that I need to have the videos in mp4 format and Any Video Converter seems to be the way to do it. Can anyone assist me with what convert settings to use to get optimum video playback on the HTC DEsire?

View 1 Replies View RelatedThis is the first phone I've owned with video capture available (LG Rumor, Instinct, Pre) and I notice there are a variety of settings available when it comes to video. One video I had recorded earlier today seemed more choppy with the exact same settings than another I took yesterday, the only difference I could really note was there was much more light in today's video. So is there a secret to beautiful video every time?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm having a bit of trouble getting videos to play on my HTC Evo with Android 2.1. I have several videos that I play on my PSP, and work just fine. However, when I transferred them over to my Evo's MicroSD card and tried to play them in any video player, they only played the audio stream, and no picture was shown. I never had trouble getting PSP-formatted videos to work on phones before; they worked n my G1 just fine. I assumed that because the Evo and PSP even had similar-sized screens, it would be even more compatible. It sounds somewhat foolish when I type it out, but one could expect it to work. I have tried playing it in the stock video player, the Meridian player, and the Video Player app from the android market, and they all had the same error. The file is an .mp4; and, as I said, gave me no problems when played in the PSP's video player.
Here's the specifications on the video file:
Type: MPEG4
Video Codec: AVC
Audio Codec: AAC
Size: 25 MB
Length: 00:23:41
Width: 480
Height: 272
Aspect Ratio: 16:9
Data Rate: 99kbps
Total Bitrate: 147 kbps
Frame Rate: 23 fps
After the OTA 2.2 I just did, the Camera/Video quality hasn't changed a bit...Any suggestions on settings?

View 8 Replies View RelatedCould someone post screenshots or very precise details of working "Configure" settings for the x264 codec in AVIDEMUX? I have not found a combination that works for myTouch (Android 1.5). Everything produces just a black screen, although they all play on my PC.Please do not waste our time with talk about MPEG-4 ASP (lavc) as all this can produce is choppy video that the Android's processor cannot handle or quality so awful it makes you want to go get a Windows Mobile phone. Please also do not post FFMPEG command lines you guess might work. It is too difficult for users to get a current version of FFMPEG that doesn't crash every 3 seconds, and whatever you thought worked likely will fail given other people's source files.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have tried both handbrake and xvidtopsp and with both programs I am just getting audio with a black screen. Can anyone help me figure out what I am doing wrong. I used the handbrake settings that someone had posted in a thread in here but that gave me the black screen as well.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI got the X10 2 or 3 weeks ago, previous phone was a Samsung Jet. I watch quite a few films but so far I can't get the quality. The files are mainly divx encoded but I have been converting to mpeg4 to play them in Mediascape. The video is skipping / jumping even though it is not at a super-high resolution, bitrate etc. Does anyone know what the best settings are to get video that's watchable? The Jet would play divx files no problem at all and I assumed the X10 would be at least as good...
View 3 Replies View RelatedTried doing a search but after sifting through many pages, decide to put in a new topic. I was recording a video using the HTC camcorder. Why does the video save as a .3gp format even though I selected mp4 and 720p in settings? Did I do something wrong? Is it really 720p? Did not know that 3gp had the ability to do HD video.

I use handbrake to rip my DVDs to my phone. I followed the instructions on from this linkHow to convert videos and transfer them to the Samsung Vibrant - Know Your Cell
Works fine but the file size is like 1.5GB, does anyone know if there is a way to make the file smaller? I'm not hugely concerned that the quality is the best, but hopefully not too pixally, I just want something to watch while I'm at the gym.

View 7 Replies View RelatedMy phone died in the middle of taking video. Came home a couple hours later, plugged my phone into the charger. I turned the phone on, after it was plugged in. My phone froze during the little HTC and Hero intro. After the freeze, it was back on, but my screens were all back to factory settings! It also asked me to calibrate my keyboard, and the little popup bubbles to guide the user with their "new phone" came up! All my apps were gone!! I lost ALL of my contacts! The only thing that stayed was my pictures and videos. It doesn't make any sense to me.

The devs for handbrake basically said they were sorry but it wont work on my system. Anyway, anyone know of a good program I can use to encode for the droid?
