When I turn the phone sideways to use the long keyboard my hand keeps touching the quick search button. Is there anyway to lock the bottom keys or make it so they are not as sensitive?

Is there any app/hack/widget to keep the backlights on the bottom buttons on just as long as the screen is backlit? So annoying how quickly they go off. Equally as annoying is how quickly the screen goes to sleep after you get a text. It literally stays on for 2 seconds, so I have to press the power button then slide/unlock to get to my text. Needs to be an option to keep it on for longer (10 seconds).

Is there a way to disable the bottom keys (Menu, Home, Back, Search, etc etc) from vibrating when touch? Even when I dial a number the keys are vibrating (haptic feedback) I've read the manual. View 13 Replies View RelatedSo I know this has been a recurring problem, the quick keys at the bottom of the screen being purple.But no one has ever figured out what to do about it?Is there a way to cover them up or something so they aren't visable at all?It may be my OCD acting up, but i feel disgusted at the prospect of having to look at a phone whose 4 buttons are different colors for the next two years.
View 16 Replies View RelatedA backlight used to turn on for the bottom hard press keys on my dx but ever since I downloaded and installed the live wallpaper panoplied, they don't turn on anymore. I don't know how or even why a live wallpaper would turn off backlight settings for the keys but its becoming a major inconvenience. I checked the settings but couldn't find where to tweak backlight settings. I also rebooted the phone and did a soft reset but that didn't work. Can anyone out there help a brother out?

First post here. First Android phone as well. Picked up the X yesterday and am enjoying it. One quick question though, can I not turn the phone to the right (bottom keys to the left) to change the orientation? Things only turn when I turn the phone left or straight up, not right or upside down.

I made a mp3 as my text message tone...its only 6 or 7 seconds long..but, the problem I am encountering is that when my phone is idle and my text message tone goes off upon receipt of a new text...I am finding myself using the unlock button to awaken the phone..swiping my finger on the screen to unlock the phone, and then going to the message icon to FINALLY disable the text message tone from continuing.
Is there a way for the phone to recognize that I am touching it, using the lock button on top of the phone or the volume keys..or SOMETHING other than having to actually wake, unlock, and enter the message area?
I have added a couple of soft keys through navigation_bar.xml in SystemUI.apk. The soft keys show great, but are also showing on the lockscreen, when the others "disappear".
The added ones are Menu and Search, the order is Home, Menu, Recent Apps, Back, Search. This is to be the same as my desire hard keys. I know, no point in it, but have just got used to the soft keys so much!
Anyway, here is my coding, I have removed the android:visibilty="invisble" attribute to no ill effects...I have also added the relevant strings and ids in their respective places..

Could it be to do with the ID's? (I know that when I made the center clock, I added the "@id/clock" and it made the clock "disappear" on the lockscreen, where taking it out the clock stayed in the status bar!)...
Is there anyway to not have new texts show up at the bottom of the lock screen? It pretty much defeats the purpose of having the phone locked doesn't it?

I am plan B and AVG security installed, both don't always work, I have pattern lock on the phone but even in pattern lock mode when i press and hold power button the phone gives me option to shutdown.
If someone steals my phone they will be able to shut it off without unlocking it since holding down power button still works. So is there a way to lock the power button from shutting off phone when the phone is in pattern unlock mode?

What I mean is that I need a phone lock for security reasons - however it is a pain to use it every time I turn the screen on. Is there a way to have it work only when you turn the phone on? Right now if yu don't have a phone/screen lock security set if someone steals your phone they take out the sim card and use the phone normally ... if you do have it, then you must use the password every time you want to use the phone (I hate it). I know the best thing is to have a secured access but I was just wandering if it was possible to do seomething different?

It seems she does not remember the lock pattern and we have not signed up yet for a gmail account. We have tried holding the left and center button then holding the right after a battery pull but when the progress bar comes up(grey) it goes a little over halfway then stops, it never finishes. I have done a search and came up with nothing else. She has 2.1 if that helps.

View 3 Replies View RelatedFor some reason a row of keys on my keyboard will not work properly. I have to sort of hit the "top" of the key, or it wont pick up anything at all. It's frustrating because every other row of keys works. It does this in both screen modes. It is mostly affecting keys towards the very bottom of my screen if I hold the eris from the bottom.
